Mom Holds Her Newborn Triplets For The First Time, She Doesn’t Know She’ll Never See Them Again!
When this mother successfully delivered her triplets and held them in her arms, it was a very happy moment. She firmly believed without the slightest doubt that she would have countless more chances to keep her children with her, but that would not be because of a traumatic event. Cassia was not yet prepared for her photo to be taken. She moaned and informed Joe, her husband, that she looked shabby after giving birth.
After taking a good shower and getting out of her hospital gown, she requested if he may snap a photo. “Now is the best time,” he said with a light-hearted shake of his head. He said that capturing pictures in the moment to document something authentic was the purpose of creating memories. She was obviously exhausted. After all, she had just given birth to their three children. He wanted her to remember that she was joyful and lovely, even if she had every right to be.
“If you wait until you’re perfect for the camera, wouldn’t it feel too doctored? Relax, I’ll make you look good,” he said.
Cassia didn’t believe him and she squinted at him. In the kitchen, when strolling outside, while grocery shopping, and during family dinners, he enjoyed snapping images of her without her knowledge. He had always promised to put his phone away when Cassia asked him to, but then he would suddenly pull it out and take a humiliating shot. He would insist she looked gorgeous, even if she claimed it was unattractive and he should remove it.
Cassia eventually agreed when she saw that Joe was adamant about getting a picture, but only after she changed out of her hospital gown. She did at least agree with him that it was fair enough. He then requested her to grin and led her into a few positions around the hospital room. He showed her the images he had taken. “He could remove the rest,” she continued, pointing out a couple of her favorites.
He said with excitement, “How about a photo with the triplets?” Cassia flashed her pearly teeth in a smile. She was as happy as he was, and requested him to bring them over with great anticipation. She had yet to hold them. After asking her to sit up straight against the bed’s headboard, Joe put the triplets in Cassia’s arms with the help of a nurse. She appeared on the verge of bursting with happiness.
He inquired about her initial impressions of holding her infants. “It felt like heaven,” she said, letting out a blissful sigh. Joe’s eyes were wet with pride and excitement as he clicked away and took many pictures of his wife and kids.
The nurse returned the triplets to their cot after they had completed their photo shoot and told Cassia to get more sleep because she had just woken up from her anesthesia-induced slumber. Even though Cassia was really uncomfortable from the C-section she had a few hours prior, she greatly wanted to remain awake and observe her babies, rather than to sleep. In any case, Joe could see how exhausted she was and begged her to go to bed. He held her hand and gave her a forehead kiss till she fell asleep.
Joe didn’t go right away. He spent some time watching Cassia from a chair next to her bed. While sleeping, Cassia appeared serene and lovely. Joe enjoyed shooting pictures of her because he believed she was the most beautiful lady in the world. He kissed the back of her hand while still holding it, and tears of gratitude welled up in his eyes. The triplets had finally arrived, and he was glad it was done.
When Cassia found out she was pregnant, she was in her mid-30s. Joe was overjoyed when she informed him. There had been setbacks in the couple’s journey toward realizing their lifelong desire of having a big brood. Two girls, ages two and six, were previously born to the parents. They didn’t plan on the daughters being apart for four years, but that’s how things worked out, and they thought it was best.
The couple had fallen on hard times following the birth of their first child. Cassia had seen a wage reduction at her job, and Joe had been laid off. They had thought about applying for assistance since their financial situation had grown so poor that they could not purchase necessities. They had considered themselves lucky to be concerned about only one child. They had been struggling to make ends meet for years.
During those years, Cassia had become pregnant once, but she had miscarried in the first trimester. The couple had grieved the loss and turned to one another for comfort. They had prioritized spending time as a family and being present parents to their girls in the interim.
Cassia was an excellent housewife. She frequently used colored draperies, cross-stitched centerpieces, and beaded flower vases to adorn the house with vibrant hues. At home, food was constantly there and typically smelled of delicious sweets and cookies. Whenever the family got together for supper, they enjoyed talking to each other and learning about one another’s activities. Despite their lack of wealth, they were happy.
It was fortunate that the family situation had improved. After being laid off, Joe had begun a farm, which had progressively expanded to a sizable size. To help him, he even had to employ farmhands. His love was farming, and he had enjoyed caring for animals and growing crops. Cassia also secured a better career, and soon the family’s financial situation improved. Soon later, a second daughter was born.
When they learned they were pregnant again two years later, their hearts did not shudder in terror. Rather, they were filled with happiness as they had hoped for this. After undergoing an ultrasound at the hospital, they learned they were expecting triplets. When they heard the news, their happiness seemed to have tripled.
They had spoken about what it would be like to raise three kids at once and lived on cloud nine for weeks. They had speculated about the triplets’ names, whether or not they would rhyme, whether or not they would be identical, and how noisy their home would be with five kids. Most of them were excited and eager to get going, but they had feigned a fear of what lay ahead.
However, unpleasant news had arrived. In addition to experiencing frequent pains and lightheadedness, Cassia had discovered minimal bleeding around 10 weeks into her pregnancy. She thought that because she was carrying several babies, she was experiencing this feeling even though she hadn’t experienced it with her previous two pregnancies. Despite her best efforts to conceal it from him, Joe had seen her intense uneasiness and discomfort.
Joe wasn’t having it. Even though she hadn’t intended to cause him any anxiety, and even though it was over an hour away from their home, he had canceled everything on his daily plan to drive her to the hospital for a checkup. Following the hospital stay, Cassia was closely checked by the doctor, who also asked her questions and felt various body regions with gentle pressure to see how she responded to discomfort.
Given Cassia’s age and the fact that she would be giving birth to triplets, the doctor ultimately told the couple that she was experiencing a high-risk pregnancy. After she had finished speaking, Joe had asked her what they could do, and the pair had listened intently. Cassia had been told by the doctor to take labor-inducing medicine in order to give birth to her children earlier than planned. She was warned that carrying them over 30 weeks might endanger her health.
“How about my babies, though? Will it not harm them to have them early?” Cassia’s voice had sounded a little shaky with worry.
With a sigh, the doctor put her hands together. She had told the couple the plain facts. Pre-term kids often didn’t grow or develop as quickly as babies brought to term and were always at risk for a variety of issues. However, since medical technology was sophisticated and would take care of them, they would probably be all right. However, it was impossible to predict what kind of complications might occur if Cassie carried the infants to term. No matter what happened to her, Cassie had never wanted to endanger her children.
Joe had been clearly worried, frowns smearing his brow as she had confided in him in the seclusion of their bedroom. After smoothing them away and kissing him, Cassie urged him to trust that she would be well. Not only was she a powerful lady, but she had never lied to him before, so he had trusted her. She was not to be questioned. After determining that an early birth was not possible, the couple modified their original intentions in case she required emergency treatment.
Cassie had relocated from their farmhouse in the country to a new home near the hospital when she was about 30 weeks pregnant. Joe had moved in with her and remained nearby in case she needed him. He had been so kind, pouring her chocolate beverages and rubbing her feet and back. She had had trouble falling asleep one night since she was unable to find a comfortable posture. He remained up with her, grabbing midnight nibbles and watching repeats of her favorite films.
Cassie was 34 weeks along when she went into labor. After weeks of ignoring it, Joe had gone out to check on some business and wasn’t at home at the time, because she didn’t want him confined to the house. Cassie had been adamant that he go. Cassie had begun to have contractions a few hours after he had departed. In order to prevent herself from screaming out, she had clenched her mouth tight. Her brow was drenched with sweat. She had grabbed her phone and dialed the emergency room at the hospital.
The drive had taken 15 minutes. Thankfully, an ambulance was dispatched by the hospital in a timely manner. They had called Joe and told him. He was panting as he ran into the labor ward in 30 minutes. The sight of him had filled Cassie with relief. She had been optimistic at the sight of him. She had given him a grin. Before starting the procedure, the physicians had sedated Cassie and politely asked Joe to wait outside.
When Cassie’s triplets were delivered, they were pink with health. The shrill shouts of the two boys and one girl had sounded like a contest to see who could be the most memorable of the day. This was a positive indication, and the physicians had joked about it. The physicians arrived to check on Cassie when she woke up from her snooze.
Cassie said that she was feeling better and was eager to get home.
“I understand how she must be feeling,” the doctor said with a gentle grin. But that wasn’t possible yet.
Cassie hesitated at this response, wondering if something was amiss. Given that she had just experienced a high-risk pregnancy, the physicians reassured her that it was standard practice and begged her not to worry. The date of this incident was January 29th, 2016. The physicians did not find anything wrong, so they released Cassie a few days later. In order for the triplets to gain weight and complete their development, they would need to spend a few weeks in the neonatal critical care unit.
Joe organized a lavish surprise welcome home for his two lovely daughters. A cake and balloons were present, and her room was beautifully decorated. Cassie started experiencing a strong ache in her chest and a racing heartbeat two days after she got home. She begged Joe to take her to the hospital right away because she sensed something was wrong. For her girls, who were terrified and wanted to know whether their mother was all right, she put up a strong front. She gave them a firm embrace, kissed every girl on the face, and met their eyes, promising to return immediately.
But as soon as she was in the car with Joe by herself, her mask came off, and she gritted her teeth and sobbed. Cassie abruptly sat up halfway to the hospital and begged Joe to park the car. She begged him to give her a hug while crying. She pleaded with him to listen to her and follow her instructions, but he didn’t understand and wanted to get straight to the hospital. Joe noticed that Cassie was breathing heavily as he pulled away from her after the embrace.
“Love, I don’t think I can make it.” Her cheeks were wet with tears.
Puzzled, Joe shook his head violently. They had a full life ahead of them. So he encouraged her to fight. He brought to mind their children who would pick out their clothes, do their hair, and bake cakes on their graduation days. How about after they get married? For all that, Cassie had to be present. He had to assure her that he would look after their children.
“All of them,” Cassie said, softly cupping his face in her palms. Tears poured forth and he closed his eyes in agony. He requested that she remain with them and take care of that on her own. After squeezing his shirt, Cassie gradually collapsed into his chest and passed out. She didn’t move as he attempted to shake her awake.
The date of this incident was February 8th. While driving her to the hospital in silence, Joe felt numb and tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate her. Joe sobbed into his hands while his shoulders trembled. He was told by the physicians that she died from a blood clot that formed in her lungs after giving birth and having to undergo a C-section.
After that day, Joe had no idea how to live on. He characterized Cassie as wonderful whenever someone inquired about her. She was the kind of lady who put others at ease and made them feel appreciated. She gave food to the women, prepared clothing for them, and visited several while they were ill. She volunteered for charities all the time.
Her girls were always discussing Cassie. According to them, their mother went to heaven, which is a place where angels like her reside. In addition to the burden of being a mother and father to five children, particularly the triplets who needed round-the-clock care, Joe found mourning difficult.
But there were unexpected sources of assistance. In response, neighbors, friends, and well-wishers came over to help with the kids. Regarding the money, friends contributed almost $152,000 to a Cassie Ross memorial fund that they established online for $10,000. Joe was so grateful that he and his elder children were crying uncontrollably.
Joe didn’t have to worry about money or going back to work anytime soon. At least it had been difficult and full of challenges to move on. A person is never put through a challenge by fate that they cannot overcome. Joe has posted photos of himself and the kids online throughout the years and it appears that he is headed in the right direction.
