Victim Gr*ped With A Knife In Worst Case Police Had Seen
I just opened up the back door and there’s blood everywhere. So, I’m I’m too afraid to go in. I’m sorry. No, I don’t want you to go in. I just want you to stay outside and wait for officers. Okay. If you do hear anything suspicious, I will leave. Are you anyone else in danger right now? No, not that I know of.
I mean, I don’t I don’t know. Sean Patrick French was born August 5th, 1993 in Wyoming. By his mid20s, he had relocated to the Salt Lake City area where he worked at various locations throughout 2017. And to those who casually knew Sha, he seemed like any other man, you know, trying to make his way in the world.
But beneath the surface, his life was beginning to unravel. And yes, he looks like Beetlejuice. Sorry, Michael Keaton, that’s doing you a disservice. Now, in November 2017, Sha stopped showing up to one of his jobs. He then abandoned another position. Essentially, he was unemployed. And by February 20th, 2018, Sha had stopped living at his registered apartment.
He had effectively became transient living off the grid. His whereabouts unknown to landlords or employers. And during this period of instability, Beetlejuice, I mean Sha was harboring a dirty, dirty, dark secret. He had cultivated a relationship with a 15-year-old named Bailey Bagshaw. Here is Cody, Sha’s brother, to explain Sha’s behavior.
He was having a relationship with a girl named Bailey. Yeah. Right. Yeah. So, did he give you details back then as far as how they were involved and uh how they got to know each other and stuff like that? I don’t know if this is true. I don’t know. Bailey has a brother, but he said he met the brother or something and then moved into the house.
Mom was helping. Did he actually tell you, hey, I’m having sex with this girl? I mean, did he get any details about their relationship or anything like that? No. Previous one, my brother’s family don’t want to know his sexual life. Now, Sha was not a stranger to Bailey. He had developed a connection with the young girl, and it crossed every boundary of decency.
See, what began as a relationship had become something far more sinister. Sha was essaying Bailey. He was exploiting her youth and vulnerability for his own gratification. Beetlejuice, you sick bastard. The nature of this abuse was closely guarded secret. It was maintained through manipulation and terror. See, Sha had made explicit threats to Bailey.
This kept her silent and trapped. He told her if she ever tried to end the relationship, he would unaliv her. And he didn’t stop there. He said, “I’ll take your life and then I’ll take your entire family as well.” By the way, the body cam footage you’ll see throughout this video, yes, I know it was recorded through a toaster.
So, please don’t be mad at me. Now, on May 7th, 2018, Bailey was on the phone to her mother. Now, the mother, she heard like a disturbance on the other end of the line. The phone disconnected. The line went dead. She called her daughter back. No answer. She called again, no answer. She then reached out to a neighbor who lived near her daughter’s residence and asked them to check on Bailey.
She also contacted a bishop from their religious community. Now, this neighbor arrived at the Bagshaw home and approached cautiously. Near the side of the door on the east side of the house, there was blood. The neighbor didn’t actually go in. Once they saw the blood, they called 911. Okay. I don’t know. Um, my bishop just called me, asked me to go across the street and and see if there the daughter was okay.
I just opened up the back door and there’s blood everywhere. Can you see anybody? I I can’t I I’m too afraid to go in. I don’t know. Okay. No, that’s totally fine. I just opened up the back door. Her mother is calling from And around the same time, Bailey’s bishop also noticed blood at the back door.
So, Officer Christopher Potteri was dispatched to the residence for a welfare check at 3:11 p.m. As he approached the property, he immediately observed evidence of violence. There were bloody boot prints leading away from the side door on the east side of the house. The prints were distinct and clear, tracking away from the home towards the backyard.
Christopher then approached the side door and looked inside. There was a large pool of blood in the entryway and kitchen area. The amount of blood indicated severe trauma. And as he entered the house, he looked around and he found Bailey. She was lying on her back on the kitchen floor. She was surrounded by blood.
Christopher immediately recognized, “Oh no, she’s dead.” He had seen she’d been stabbed. So then, Officer Drot arrived shortly after to assist. Together, the officers needed to ensure the suspect was not in the house and that there were no other victims. So, they went upstairs to have a look.
See, the Bagshore home was a multi-level residence with the basement, main floor, and upstairs. Now, officers began clearing the building. They encountered multiple dogs and there were kennels throughout the house. There was one in the basement and more upstairs. However, no suspect was found in the residence. Whoever took the life of Bailey had fled.
Beetlejuice, you cheeky boy. So then, Officer Scott, he began following the bloody boot prince, and the prince led him to the side door where Bailey had been attacked. This was through the entryway out into the backyard. Now, this trail continued toward the Jordan River Parkway, which ran adjacent to the Backshore property, and lying directly in the path of these prints was a folding knife.
The knife was covered in blood and given its position in the direct line of the suspect’s path and the blood covering it, this was the murder weapon. Now, Detective Nathan Gunderson, he was assigned to interview Bailey’s mother. They developed a suspect profile. I asked for that interview, I couldn’t get it. Forgive me.
And during this interview, it was around 2 hours. Bailey’s mother gave critical information about Sha and she explained the essay that took place between Sha and her daughter. She detailed the threats that Sha had made. You know, that he would take Bailey’s life and then take her family’s life if she ever tried to end the relationship.
And the mother had only recently discovered that the essay was going on. Now, her worst fears were realized. She provided details about his appearance, his habits, and any information where police could find him. So, Nathan took this and he began running background searches on Sha. So, then detective Tiffany Papas arrived at the scene to coordinate the homicide investigation.
See, in Tiffany’s head, Bailey was at home. Sha entered and attacked her. There were pools of blood in the entryway and kitchen where Bailey had fallen. The bootprints tracked through the house documenting the killer’s movements as he fled. The side door on the east side of the house appeared to be the point of entry and exit.
And again, the folding knife discovery when it was analyzed, the blood was Bailey’s and the DNA was linked to Sha. And the scene suggests this was not just a random attack. This was targeted. Sha had come to the house likely knowing Bailey was going to be there. And he used a knife. And when Sha was identified as the primary suspect, a search began.
Police knew they were looking for a dangerous individual. I’m not going to lie, if I saw this guy walking down the street, I wouldn’t think he’s dangerous. I think he’s a dung beetle. See, to police, the fact that he was homeless made him harder to find. He had no fixed address, no employment, and he already demonstrated he’s okay living off the grid.
And then May 23, 2018, 16 days after Bailey’s murder, Sha was arrested in Colorado. So, I just want to kind of get a quick rundown of first like how did you get into the house? That’s what I want to know. That’s that’s a big question I have. Through a window, bottom window, what side of the house? Backyard. Okay, so that brings me to my next question.
Did you kill Bailey? I’m not going to answer that question yet. Okay. Did you rape her? Did you perform any type of sex act on her during this time? No. Sha was charged with the murder and after 2 years he plead guilty. He said, “I took her life because I was trying to cover up the SA.” His plea comes as part of a deal with prosecutors who with the approval of the victim’s family dropped other charges such as the death penalty in exchange for his admission of guilt.
He was sentenced to life in prison. Now, I’m going to play more of Cody’s police interview for you in a second, but a quick word on Sha, men and women. Now, of course, if you are a human dung beetle, then having a purpose in life is going to be quite difficult. And I think when he met Bailey and this woman that accepted him, cuz I don’t think many people accepted the aforementioned dung beetle, he felt power and he wanted to control her.
And in the end, in his mind, well, if I can’t have you, nobody else can. This is what you call a weak, pathetic Pardon my French, but it must be said. As I mentioned, my daughter has a very rare genetic condition. So now, when I look at young girls specifically, I kind of see him in a more in a different light, in a more precious light, and this sick, demented decided to take hers.
What a piece of dung. Anyway, let’s take a look at Cody. So, why don’t you fill us in? Tell tell us what you know. Well, my brother called me today at work and uh said he did the crime that he was accused of committing killing that girl. He said he cut his throat. Were those his exact words? Yes. you compared it to. I know it’s hard and I think this is you’re doing the right thing by giving us this information compared to killing a deer.
My buddy shot last year. He said he was in Colorado. He wouldn’t tell me where. He said he’s going to turn himself in later tonight or something. Okay. He’s going to confess to it. Did he tell you if he was alone? He didn’t tell him if he was alone. He didn’t tell me if he was with somebody. Okay. That’s all he told me.
I answered his phone. He said hello. And I was like, did you do it? You said yes. And he did. And he I asked him how and he said, “Remember the deer my buddy shot?” My buddy had to cut his throat. That deer’s throat. Then he said, “You cut her throat.” Then I was like, “Where are you?” You first wouldn’t tell me.
I was like, “Well, tell me the state you’re in.” He said, “Colorado, that’s all he told me about that.” And he said he wanted the death penalty. What did he do? Then he said he call me later. Well, he told me I told him I was like, I have to call Detective Blue about this detective that called me. He said, “Go ahead and call him.
” So, he I mean, from what you said, he actually told you I cut this girl’s spell. Yes, sir. Those were his exact words. Exact words. And he didn’t say mention any names. Didn’t mention no names. Okay. Did he say which girl it was or anything like that? We knew who it was. Okay. He said he was ready to turn himself in.
Yeah. He did say he was going to get charged for rape. Same with minor. Okay. So, tell me about that. What did he say about that? How did that come out? I up, man. You know, like, what do you mean? He’s like, I’m going to get charged with single minor. It’s a felony. I don’t know what to say, man.
You know, I don’t know what to tell him, right? You know, I’m not his I’m not his life guru, you know, right? But, uh, so he basically just came out and said, “I’m probably going to get charged for this for sleeping with a minor.” How did that end? I mean, did he say, you know, I have plans of doing this or no anything like that? I mean, how did how did that end? Well, I was like, what do they how are they going to find you? He said, they’ll extradite me back to Utah.
I mean, he didn’t say anything about what he was going to do, though. Okay. Did he say who the minor was? No. I had a feeling that it was a girl that he was with previous before going to Cleveland, though. Uh, never gave me a name or an age, but he said she was a younger girl, right? My dad met her.
Apparently your mother too. Your dad being Daryl. Daryl. Okay. When did they meet her? I don’t know. Four or five months ago. That’s what my dad told me the other day. Okay. So, believe it’s that same girl that uh Sean was talking about then. Yeah. Okay. I believe it was. And they were going through some stuff.
So, he moved back here. They moved back down there for her because he moved back up here and they got him a job where I worked and uh decided to believe he quit. Move back down to Utah for a girl. And honestly, you know, two two together, same girl. Okay. See, so I take it just based on what you’re telling me.
I mean, to see see a person that carries knives or weapons on him. Um, is that some is that fill me in? How No, tell me a little bit more about your brother. I mean, he sold all those guns when he was in Utah. He was struggling financially when he first moved to Utah. So, he sold us 270 and he’s 22 and he was 14. That’s pretty from what he told me, right? So that’s pretty much how he’s been surviving is getting money for these guns that he’s been pinging him.
Yeah. Okay. Do you know if he had any jobs? He said he had a job at Midas up in Cleveland, Ohio. No. No. We’re going to back up just a little bit here. He said that he wanted to kill him. Did he tell you why? I mean, what what was what was the problem back then? Said his life’s a piece of uh he lost his son.
He looks at he always compares me to him. He said, “Look at your life. You have everything. You have a wife. You have kids. You have good job.” And then he’s like, “Look at my life. I don’t have any of that. I lost my kid. Don’t have a job. Can’t keep a job.” I think he’s just really depressed about his life. He always compares mean to him always.
Uh like I’m my dad’s favorite, not him. I’m my mom’s favorite. Not him. Like you always black sheep. Just give me a little bit more of a background on your brother, what he’s all about. Yeah, lies a lot. I mean, like when he’s at jobs, he talks himself up. He knows everything. You know, it came to a point that me and my dad didn’t know what was true, especially him living in Utah.
It was easy to decipher a lie when he lived in the same town. But we lived in Utah. Uh dropped out of school, bad teachers, you know, stole my parents car when I was younger. Went on higheed pursuit, smashed in a semi truck. Uh you said he was uh buying uh drugs, spending money on drugs. What was what was he using? What time? I mean he’s used them all.
I guess from what he says. Not really. Weed up took heroin meth. I don’t know if he does it anymore. But so he had a lady here and a kid as well, right? I mean just that just didn’t work out then. What happened to that? Was that were they actually married or just living together? They were living in my parents house and uh from her story and his story like two different things happened, right? I guess she was holding her son and grabbed her.
She dropped her son. That’s what she says. And then he says something else. I remember what he said. I don’t remember her story. That was her story. Uh, I don’t know. I can’t believe either one of them. I don’t know what really happened. Uh, it didn’t work out. That was the reason she said. Uh, so she took this took her son and brother just didn’t give a you know.
I’m sorry. How did the How did the son pass away? No, my son’s still alive. Still alive? Yeah, he just dropped him. Okay. He’s still alive. He’s still alive. All right. I was just wondering because there was some rumors that he may have passed away from an accidental fall. So that’s I’m wondering if these are rumors that he was passing around out there.
No, his son’s fine. Okay. Lose with his mother. Okay. So maybe that explains a little bit more why we’re getting all this information. It’s just not turning out to be that. What do you think about what he told you this morning? I think it’s true. Think it was true. He’s being real straight up with you. Serious moment.
Serious conversation. I’m 100% serious. Can you think of anything else that uh you may have forgotten that you may want to bring up or you know everything you said is pretty much um you’ve been relaying to the officers or that you’ve made contact and I do appreciate that. So um just to let you know we just uh got word that your brother is in custody.
So, kind of just want to make sure that you know that that he’s okay and and um hopefully we can go from there and try to find out the real reasons behind all this and you feel that uh maybe he’ll just come out and say it the way it is. Um I’ll be honest with you. I know.
I know. And and that’s something I won’t be able to do. Okay, your your statement will be included. I’m not going to jerk you around and tell you that I am I I’ll think about it or I’ll try to keep your name. That’s not going to happen. It’s your information is very important to this case and it will be part of the case file. Okay? So, be aware of that.
But I also just wanted to give you the heads up that your brother’s in custody so you know that at least he’s going to be okay. He’s, you know, about my parents. Why were you worried about your parents? Someone dies. Someone dies. My mother’s on the news this close. My dad and him have fallen out, you know. Okay. So, I call my dad.
He didn’t answer. So, it freaked me out. So, I ran over to the house. Okay. You felt that your brother may even be capable of uh hurting your dad? Yeah. I mean, he’s hit my dad before. Really? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Well, you can rest. He’s He’s in custody, so that’s not going to happen. And you can also tell your dad about it.
So, you guys can rest and at least uh that’s out of the way on your end. Um other than that, I think if there’s anything else that pops up, um I’m going to give you my direct uh contact number. And from here on out, you call me and we can whatever information you may have. That would be great.
But here’s my business card right here. And that’s going to be my desk number there. If this goes to court, will I have to testify in court? You know what? We we we’re so a ways from that right now that we don’t we don’t know what’s going to happen. Okay. But if it does come down to maybe going to court, there’s a possibility that that may happen.
But I don’t want to give you any of that information right now because he may just decide to be a man about it and tell us what really happened and and be honest about the whole thing and maybe court won’t even be necessary. But again, Don’t quote me on that because I just don’t know right now.
I mean, we’re looking at months way before we even go any further on this case. Okay. As far as court goes,
