friends. 2-year-old Meline Rose Stokes was left in excruciating pain with severe burns after being held under scolding water by her father as punishment for soiling her diaper. This took place on May the 20th, 2017. And in today’s video, it includes two stories where parents did something so heinous. So, I’m going to start with the case of Meline, which took place in Australia.
The little girl died from horrific burns after being plunged into a boiling hot bath, but she could have been saved. However, her cruel parents let her suffer due to fears over intervention from the Department of Child Safety. You see, the court was told that the toddler would have screamed in agony during the horrific ordeal.
The water scalded her back and between her legs with only the heels of her feet escaping the steaming water. Now Meline’s parents, you had Shane, who was 33, and you had Nicole who was 26. They hid their daughter’s horrific injuries for 5 days. This was all after Meline had already been treated for severe malnutrition as a baby.
Had the couple sought immediate medical intervention, the toddler had a 100% chance of making a full recovery. Let me reiterate, they didn’t take her to the hospital in fear of being caught by the child’s services. Cowards. Shane and Nicole pleaded guilty to the 2-year-old’s torture and manslaughter after failing to seek medical attention.
Shane admitted causing the injuries that left untreated developed into thirdderee full thickness burns. Refusing to seek medical help, the couple instead researched burns online and treated their daughter at home with aloe vera gel and bandages. See, this is a case where Web MD is not always good. Meline died in hospital on May the 25th after being found unconscious by paramedics at their family home in Brisbane.
Authorities found scattered blood soaked bandages, toilet paper, and mattresses throughout the home. Police inferred that the girl would have been in misery and pain and unable to walk. She would have been dehydrated and weak before becoming delirious and fallen unconscious before going into cardiac arrest.
A blood analysis showed the toddler had been given anti-depressants. Anti-depressants? The This was given to her by her father to quieten or tranquilize the girl before she died. The couple who sat in the dock during the trial remained unmoved as their daughter’s catastrophic injuries were outlined in court throughout the hearing.
A defense barrista, he said that the child’s death was not an act of deliberation, but a case of parents doing their incompetent best. Incompetent best? That’s a nice way to put it. How about they were being a bunch of wankers? Lawyers for the couple said they did not cause the child’s injuries. They wanted to call the ambulance and had been under the delusion she would get better.
No, that’s not delusion. Delusion is me thinking I can get Angelina Jolie Muppets. They claimed it was not done by malice or lack of caring. They were scared the child would be taken away from them. During the sentencing, the judge said that the toddler’s death was dreadful and beyond tragic. He felt the parents were concerned for themselves at their daughter’s expense.
and it cost them their daughter’s life. The judge said that the greatest tragedy is that if they had taken her to hospital, her life would have been saved and she would have received proper pain relief. After all, the girl had to endure almost 5 days of this boiling burnt pain. Shane himself was jailed for 11 years and Nicole for 9 years.
So between the two of them, they essentially got 20 years combined. What? But what’s also sad in this wider story is that Meline’s life, you see, she died without her neighbors even knowing her name. No one in the public housing complex where they lived seemed to have seen anything that raised their concerns about the child’s welfare.
No one seemed to have seen much of Meline. The two-story townhouse in which they live, it had a tiny backyard and faces paving that covers a courtyard and runs up to the road. One of the longestterm residents in the block did not even know the names of anyone in the family until after the girl’s death made the news.
The local residents told police they only ever saw the parents and the elder child that used to go to daycare. There was one resident, her name was Mrs. Jones, who had been in her home for about a dozen years. She believed the family had been living behind her for about 2 years. According to her, they seemed like normal people. They were very quiet.
They did not speak to anyone. She told the police neither parent was working. They did not own a car. They just kept themselves to themselves. Well, unfortunately, you know who they are now. She said occasionally you could hear a child crying from the house, but she considered it normal cuz well, kids always cry.
Kids fall over and hurt themselves. But it wasn’t like a major scream or a pain. It wasn’t anything unusual. She did go on to say, however, that the residents in that entire complex barely spoke to anyone anyway. Some of them don’t see each other for weeks. They just keep themselves to themselves. But she did say if there was some excessive screaming, then of course they would call the police, which you would think they would.
Unfortunately for Meline, the only time the residents realized something was wrong was when the police and ambulance arrived. And even after she was taken away in the ambulance, Mrs. Jones still didn’t know the name of her or the parents. Also, Shane, the father, his brother, told police he’d actually never met Meline. Him and Shane had problems years ago and haven’t spoken in about 5 years.
The two brothers had been brought up by their father’s parents after a very bad start to life. His brother said, “I still can’t put into words how I feel about it. I’m just so angry and I get really upset every time I think about it.” He said he would have been happy to have taken Meline into his own home.
He said, “I don’t know how to tell my kids that they will never have the chance to meet their cousin. And I think it is even harder when I look at my own daughter who is only a little bit younger because I can imagine what she as in Meline is like.” Now, following Meline’s death, Operation Papa Belvadier was formed with the officials from the Child Protection Unit.
This included the Child Trauma Task Force and the Homicide Squad. One of the detectives, Tim, he said that the girl’s parents blamed their daughter’s death on a tragic accident. According to them, initially their version is that it’s a terrible accident and that it’s a moment’s inattention that led to this incident.
However, due to the very serious nature of these burns and the fact that they were so serious that they’ve quite literally caused her death, the police have a very open mind in relation to other possibilities. As in, will a con been an accident? obviously. But what’s even more bizarre is that 2 days after she died, you had Shannon Fentimon.
She was with the Department of Child Safety. She said, check this out. We are not currently investigating or are involved with this family at the time of this tragic incident. She goes on to say, “My heart breaks for the family and the friends of the little girl. There are so many people grieving today.” She continued, “I’m sorry, but isn’t it your job to know? How many times have you heard this before? child safety organizations letting the child down.
Now, to go into more details of the incident, the ambulance themselves had been called to the home around 3:30 p.m. In the preceding days, the girl had suffered thirdderee burns to her back, her backside, and her lower extremities, the back of her legs, down to her feet. Those wounds had become infected. Meline was unconscious.
She could not be revived and died in the Lady Sento Children’s Hospital. She suffered a cardiac arrest. Today, Meline would have been three. She actually had an older sister who was regularly picked up from her home in a van and taken to a childhood center. This means that the older sister was treated okay. She was fed. She was taken out and about.
But why wasn’t Meline Why did Meline have to suffer this fate? Now, it’s been reported that Charity Act for Kids had provided the family with support over the past year. Police even revealed that Shane told them his daughter had been unable to walk because of her injuries, but he did not seek medical help. Instead, he turned to Google, as in WebMD.
Shane told police his daughter had been burned during a bath, but medical experts believe her injuries were suffered from running hot water. He himself has given different versions of what happened. The day after his daughter’s death, he told detectives he had left Meline and her sister in a bath. He later ran his youngest daughter a cold bath before he and Nicole put antiseptic cream on her burns and bandaged them.
But also in another interview, he said he had washed Meline under a tap after she soiled her diaper. When the police arrested the parents, they said, “We are able to report today that as a result of the tireless efforts of the detectives involved in the case, two people have been taken into custody.” Now, quick word on this. Tireless efforts.
I’m sorry, this might be harsh. It’s your job to have been there in the first place. When they were arrested, Shane and Nicole had each been charged with one count of murder and one count of torture. The police said the investigation has been particularly difficult and emotionally challenging due to the nature of the victim being a 2-year-old girl.
Obviously, any allegations of child cruelty get treated very seriously by police and the perpetrators of that cruelty will be brought before the courts. So, Stokes and Nicole went to the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court. And as I mentioned, Shane was sentenced to 11 years. Nicole was sentenced to nine. And I know you’ve heard me say this before, but I’ve slept longer than 11 years.
I mean, look, this is going to sound messed up. Just look at their face. Look at their face. This bastard Shane, how dare you. And Nicole, you call yourself a mother? Disgraceful. Now, I’m going to move on to a story that happened in England. Here you have a mother who assaulted her three-year-old son with a bamboo cane, claiming it was in line with her Bible teaching.
This was weeks before she eventually murdered him. She received 25 years. Christina Robinson, the suspect, exposed her son, Dealania, to cruelty and excruciating pain. By the way, if I butchered his name, forgive me. This was all over several weeks before she shook him to death at her family home in November 2022.
The judge said she was guilty of gross abuse of trust at the victim’s mother. During the trial, it was revealed that Christina deliberately immersed him in scalding water causing severe burns that left him in agony. She did not seek medical help because the danger to the child would have been obvious were a health worker to see him.
Christina herself was a member of the Black Hebrew Israelite religious movement. She was originally from South England and she admitted to harming the boy with the cane, but claimed she was following a Bible text that advised the use of the rod for the correction of children. And I’m going to say this quickly because I know what the comments are going to say.
I’m quite a religious person. I’m wellversed in other religions. This is not Christianity or even Judaism. Nothing sanctions this kind of behavior. So Christina, shut the up. She was convicted of murder and four counts of child cruelty charges after the trial. The offenses took place at the family home. After his death, investigators found a broken cane in her house that had traces of his skin and blood on it.
The jury found that Christina caused a fatal brain injury to her son while she was the only adult in the house, but it was more than 20 minutes before she called for an ambulance. She first spoke to her husband on the phone, but he was miles away serving with the RAF. She then used Google to look at how to resuscitate a child.
When the emergency services arrived, Christina appeared calm as she explained her false version of events to a police while the medics worked on the child. Despite the efforts at the scene, he could not be saved and probably died at the house. Though further attempts to resuscitate him were made at the hospital.
A postmortm revealed he suffered a series of assaults. The prosecutor revealed somebody had been deliberately hurting the boy and had been doing so over a period of time. That person was his mother, Christina Robinson. In his closing speech, the prosecutor told the court that the boy was subjected to a campaign of violence and cruelty by his mother for petty wrongs.
She was convicted in March 2024, but the judge delayed the sentencing. He allowed her time to seek legal representation after she parted with her team just before the end of the trial. She was also convicted of child neglect because she kept leaving her child at home alone for hours on end. This is because she had an affair behind her husband’s back.
The medical examiners also found evidence of a second head injury, which they believed he suffered a few days before his death. But the head trauma was just one of the many injuries he sustained. He was also covered in burn marks, more than 60 across his body, including particularly serious ones on the lower half of his body, which officials say he sustained up to 3 weeks before his murder.
Authorities believed he sustained the burns by being submerged in a bath of boiling water and that Christina never attempted to get the boy medical treatment. She just put a few bandages on him and left the boy to cope with his burns. Some neighbors even reported they heard a whimpering sound from the home as the boy was subjected to her abuse.
In fact, when Christina actually called the ambulance, she first said that the boy choked on a sandwich and was not breathing. But of course, there was no evidence of this. Police also believed that prior to his death, the boy ate some tablets that Christina kept in her kitchen and he puked them out.
During this incident, she texted someone on her phone saying the boy got what he deserved. In the trial, Christina reportedly told the jurors, “I did not take my child’s life. However, the prosecution chooses to say I did. Whichever way anyone wants to imagine it, I did not take his life. I stand by that and will forever stand by that.
I pray for the day justice will be served. Well, it was, you Finally, the police detective, Simon Turner, he said, “The boy was a defenseless little boy who had his life ahead of him, but was cruy taken away by his mother. His mother was someone he should have been able to trust, someone who should have cared for him.
We may never know why or what caused Christina to do what she did. Her actions are unforgivable and sadly nothing will bring him back. But at least now she’s facing the consequences of what she has done. I mean, in the case of Christina, I just think she was a crackpot. How other way can you put it? Shane, Nicole, Christina, may you live the rest of your life in that small little box.
Thank you for watching.
