BREAKING NEWS: Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Reveal Emotional Story Behind Son Michael’s Birth As He Turns 29!
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos began the Tuesday, June 2, episode of Live With Kelly and Mark with a very personal celebration — their eldest son Michael’s 29th birthday.
At the start of the show, Consuelos marked the special day by telling viewers, “Good morning! Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Today is our eldest son Michael’s birthday.”

Ripa quickly joined in with an excited birthday message, saying, “Happy Birthday, Michael!” while Consuelos added warmly, “Happy Birthday, Mikey!”
The sweet family moment soon turned into a trip down memory lane, as the couple looked back on the day Michael was born.
Ripa revealed the playful message she had sent her son earlier that morning, reminding him that he technically had not yet made his arrival at the exact time of day.

“I said, ‘Remember, you weren’t born until 7:17 p.m., so technically, it’s not your birthday yet. You haven’t made your grand entrance yet,’” she shared.
Consuelos then joked that Ripa gives their children the same kind of speech every year on their birthdays, always reminding them of the exact time they entered the world.
Michael is the eldest of Ripa and Consuelos’ three children. The couple also share daughter Lola and younger son Joaquin.
“He’s 29! You have a 29-year-old!” Consuelos remarked during the broadcast.
Ripa immediately fired back with her trademark humor, telling him, “So do you!”
The hosts then began recalling what happened on the day Michael was born. Ripa joked that she had been watching Entertainment Tonight when it became clear it was time to have the baby.
“I remember, I was watching Entertainment Tonight when they were like, ‘Ready to have a baby?’ And I was like, ‘OK, can we wait ‘til this episode’s over?’” she said.
Consuelos remembered that Ripa had a very long labor and that the couple had to spend the night at the hospital before Michael arrived.
Although they did not share many more details about Ripa’s own labor, they did remember another dramatic moment happening nearby inside the hospital.
Consuelos said he could recall hearing another woman giving birth on the same floor.
Ripa remembered the frightening scene as well, explaining that the woman had arrived too late to receive an epidural and ended up giving birth in the hallway while already in active labor.
“The woman in the hallway, [she] gave birth in the hallway, [she] got to the hospital too late for an epidural and was in active labor,” Ripa said.
The moment clearly left a lasting impression on the couple.
Ripa admitted that before hearing what was happening, she had wondered whether she had arrived at the hospital too early. But the experience quickly changed her mind.
“I remember thinking I had gotten to the hospital too early, but then, I heard that, and I was like, ‘Just in time! I got here in the nick of time!’” she recalled.
She added that the sound woke both her and Consuelos, even though she was already under the effects of an epidural.
“We both woke up. It woke us both up, and I was fully under the haze of an epidural. I was feeling nothing, but I felt that,” Ripa said.
Over the years, Ripa and Consuelos’ children have appeared several times on Live, and the proud parents often speak about their family on the show.
Earlier this year, Michael made a surprise appearance during Ripa’s 25th anniversary special episode of Live, creating another emotional on-air moment for the family.
During the episode, Michael was asked to share some of his favorite memories from growing up around the show.
He told his mother there were many to choose from, but some moments stood out more than others.
“There’s so many, but if I had to narrow it down to just a handful, I’d say the swamp tour in Louisiana where I threw the snake on you. That was pretty good. That was pretty awesome,” Michael said.
He also remembered Ripa nearly jumping out of the boat, along with the cooking segments, family holiday specials, and what he called “the cherry on top” — winning the golden wiener.
Ripa was clearly touched by her son’s surprise appearance and admitted she could hardly believe he was there with her.
“I’m just looking at you, and I’m like, ‘I can’t believe you’re here,’” she said. “It’s such a nice surprise.”
The birthday tribute gave viewers another glimpse into the close bond between Ripa, Consuelos, and their children — mixing humor, nostalgia, and family warmth on a milestone day for Michael.
