In 2015, young Eli Cholita and Amy Johnson met and fell in love in sunny Johansburg. Like many young couples, they dreamed of a family, children, and a happy future together. 3 years later, their dreams began to come true when Natada Jane was born. a little angel who was supposed to become the center of their universe. The early years were filled with pure joy.

Amy devoted herself entirely to her daughter, teaching her kindness toward all living creatures. They would spend hours fishing together, but Nada Jane always insisted on releasing every fish back to the water. They want to go home to their families, too, she would say with the wisdom that only children possess.

In their garden, the little girl would carefully pick strawberries, eating half and saving the other half for her mother. Every walk to the park ended with Nata Jane asking for a flower. A simple request that Amy always fulfilled, watching her daughter’s face light up with each rose or daisy.  or o. But even the strongest families can shatter under pressure.

By 2021, financial strain and daily stress began tearing at the fabric of a lie and Amy’s relationship. When Amy lost her job, she spiraled into a depression so severe that she could barely function. The woman who had once been Nata Jane’s whole world suddenly couldn’t provide the care and stability her daughter desperately needed.

The decision to leave Nata Jane with her father while Amy moved to Cape Town to recover was heartbreaking but necessary. Amy knew that Eli, despite being overwhelmed, was stable and loving. She believed he could give their daughter the security she couldn’t provide. What Amy couldn’t foresee was that this decision would inadvertently open the door to the most unimaginable horror.

Suddenly responsible for a three-year-old child alone, Ali Cholita faced challenges he never anticipated. Work, cooking, cleaning, bedtime stories, comforting tears for mommy. Everything became his responsibility. Neighbor Marlene Grath later described him as a wonderful man who had everyone in the neighborhood support.

But even the best father needs help sometimes. When it came time to enroll Nata Jane in daycare at the end of 2021, Eli chose Sunshine Kids in Bedford View. He hoped that being around other children would help his daughter adjust to life without her mother’s daily presence. The bright, cheerful facility seemed perfect for a little girl who needed stability and care.

It was here that their lives would change forever, but not in the way a lie hoped. Amber Lee Hughes seemed like everything a worried father could want for his daughter. At 23 years old, she was energetic, attractive, and possessed what appeared to be a natural gift with children. According to court documents, Hughes and Eli met when he enrolled Nata Jane at the preschool where she worked, and they began dating in 2021.

For Nata Jane, still grieving her mother’s absence. Miss Amber represented hope. Here was a caring woman who paid special attention to her, who knew exactly how to comfort her when she was sad, who seemed to understand her needs perfectly. Hughes would send handwritten notes home with the child decorated with hearts, telling Eli to look in the diary. There’s something for you.

Eli later told friends he couldn’t have found a better woman to date. She was his daughter’s teacher. Who better to understand what Nada Jane needed? The relationship progressed quickly with Hughes positioning herself as the missing piece their little family desperately needed. But Hughes was playing a calculated game.

She understood that the fastest way to a single father’s heart was through his child. She studied Nata Jane’s preferences, memorized her routines, and presented herself as the perfect maternal figure. What Eli saw as genuine care was actually manipulation by someone who viewed their family not as people to protect, but as targets to control.

In March 2022, Hughes made her move. She quit her job at the daycare and moved into the Chelita family home in Malbartan, explaining that she wanted to fully dedicate herself to caring for Natada Jane. For the 4-year-old, this seemed like a dream come true. Finally, she had a constant female presence in her life again.

According to court testimony, the first months appeared perfect. Howard Hughes, Amber’s father, later testified that his daughter often babysat Nada Jane and seemed to have genuine affection for the family. The house filled with the sounds of domestic life again. Cooking, laughter, and what seemed like happiness.

But beneath the surface, something darker was taking root. During their cohabitation, witness testimony revealed that their relationship was marked by frequent arguments. More disturbing was the evidence that Hughes began threatening to harm the child during their disputes. The mask of the caring stepmother was already beginning to slip.

By summer 2022, the facade was crumbling. Court documents show that Hughes and Eli’s relationship became increasingly volatile, marked by constant fighting and sometimes violence. The dysfunction was so severe that Eli filed a domestic violence complaint against Hughes. They separated and reconciled multiple times over 14 months, breaking up at least 10 times.

The root of the problem became clear during testimony. Hughes was jealous of a 4-year-old child. She resented the attention Eli gave his daughter and the money he spent on her. As Eli testified in court, she was jealous about me giving Natada Jane more attention and spending more money on her. An adult woman saw a small child as her romantic rival.

August 2022 marked the first serious escalation. Hughes destroyed the house in a rage, breaking furniture and dishes while 4-year-old Nada Jane cowered in her room. But worse than the property damage was Hugh’s self harm. She intentionally injured herself, leaving blood on the walls and floors of what should have been a child’s safe space.

Months later came an even more terrifying incident when a lie had to wrestle a circular meat cutter, a dangerous sharp tool. Out of Hugh’s hands, she was willing to use deadly weapons in the presence of a small child. Then in November 2022, Hughes crossed a line that should have ended everything. During an argument, she made a chilling promise to a lie.

I’ll show you how I’m going to kill you and your [ __ ] child. This wasn’t anger speaking. It was a cold, calculated threat delivered with deadly intent. That threat should have been the end of Natada Jane’s contact with Hughes. Any reasonable adult should have understood that a child was in mortal danger. Hughes had already demonstrated violent behavior, destroyed property, threatened with weapons, and now openly promised to murder an innocent 4-year-old.

Eli did file a domestic violence complaint. They separated again. He knew Hughes was dangerous. Yet somehow, incredibly, he continued to leave his daughter alone with a woman who had explicitly promised to kill her. Perhaps he didn’t believe she would actually follow through. Perhaps his need for help with child care clouded his judgment.

Perhaps he simply couldn’t imagine that another human being could be so cruel to an innocent child. Whatever the reason, the result was catastrophic. Every level of protection failed. not a Jane. Her father, social services, law enforcement. The little girl who should have been safeguarded by multiple systems was left defenseless against a predator living in her own home.

The morning of January 23rd, 2023 began like any other. Eli had an important trip planned, a journey to Polyquain to look at houses. After months of unemployment, he’d finally received a job offer and was excited about the prospect of a fresh start for him and his daughter. It was supposed to be a day of hope and new beginnings.

Instead, it became the day his world ended. Eli left Nada Jane at home with Hughes, trusting that the woman who had threatened to kill his child would keep her safe. It was the most tragic miscalculation of his life. If this story has touched you as much as it has touched me, please share this video with your friends on social media.

Every one of your thumbs up will help the algorithms show this video to those who might need it. While Eli drove toward what he hoped was their future, Hughes was building toward explosion. She discovered WhatsApp messages between Eli and other women. Innocent conversations that she twisted into evidence of betrayal. Her rage already simmering from months of resentment toward his daughter finally boiled over.

The text messages that followed painted a picture of escalating fury. At 1:16 p.m., Hughes sent a message that revealed her twisted mindset. Do you even care that I’m sitting here not knowing what to do? And Natada is wiping my tears with the sheet we slept on last night. Even in her anger, Hughes was using a 4-year-old child as an emotional weapon.

She was forcing little Natada Jane to comfort her, dragging an innocent child into adult conflicts. The image of a confused four-year-old trying to wipe away the tears of the woman who would soon kill her is heartbreaking beyond words. At 4:35 p.m. came the message that sealed Nada Jane’s fate. You broke my heart. I’m going to burn yours.

How could you do that to me? This wasn’t metaphor. It was a promise. Miles away in his car, Eli felt his world collapse as he read those words. He immediately understood that something terrible was about to happen. His frantic attempts to call Hughes went unanswered. He left desperate voicemails. Don’t hurt the baby. Kill me instead. The baby is innocent.

But Hughes had already made her decision. Understanding that he was too far away to help, Eli called his friend and begged him to check on Hughes and not a Jane immediately. That friend, whose name has been kept private, agreed to help. He had no idea he was racing to prevent the murder of a child. Meanwhile, in the house in Malbartan, the unthinkable was already beginning.

What happened in the Chelita family home between 4:35 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. represents one of the most savage crimes against a child in South African history. The details are so disturbing that they challenge our understanding of human cruelty. Hughes took 4-year-old Natada Jane into the bathroom. The little girl trusted her completely.

Why wouldn’t she? Hughes had been living in their home for almost a year, caring for her, reading her bedtime stories, tucking her in at night. That trust became Nata Jane’s death sentence. According to the prosecution’s case, based on forensic evidence, Hughes first sexually assaulted the child. She inserted unknown objects into Nata Jane’s most private areas, causing severe injuries to both her front and back intimate parts.

The four-year-old would have been in excruciating pain, confused and terrified, calling out for her daddy, who was hours away. But Hughes wasn’t finished. In an act of unspeakable cruelty, she then took a sharp object and deliberately cut both of Nata Jane’s wrists, the tiny wrists of a 4-year-old child. This wasn’t accidental injury during a struggle.

This was deliberate mutilation of a helpless victim. Finally, Hughes filled the bathtub and held Nada Jane’s head underwater. The forensic pathologist, Dr. Hastel Vanstaden, found bruises on the child’s forehead consistent with an adult hand forcibly holding her face down. Nada Jane fought for her life, struggling against the person she had trusted.

But a 4-year-old has no strength against a determined adult killer. Dr. Van Staten’s testimony was clear. This was no accident. The cause of death was esphyxiation combined with sexual assault. The child had drowned, but only after enduring rape and deliberate mutilation. Not a Jane Cholita died in terror, pain, and unimaginable suffering at the hands of someone who was supposed to protect her.

When Eli’s friend arrived at the house, Hughes refused to let him enter. He was forced to break down the locked gate to get inside. What he found was a scene from a nightmare. Hughes sat in the living room soaking wet and without pants, bleeding from self-inflicted cuts on her own wrist. When he asked where Natada Jane was, Hughes simply pointed toward the bathroom with chilling casualness.

There, floating face down in the bathtub with the tap still running was the body of 4-year-old Natada Jane Chilita. The friend immediately pulled her from the water and began CPR while calling emergency services. At exactly 5:10 p.m., Hughes called her father, Howard Hughes. He later testified that he received a frantic call from his daughter while driving home from work with a friend named Miguel.

He struggled to understand her words, but caught accident and please help. Racing to the scene with Miguel, they found the gate locked and had to use a tow truck to pull it open. Howard Hughes helped perform CPR on the dying child until paramedics arrived 45 minutes later. Despite their efforts, 4-year-old Natada Jane was pronounced dead at Netcare Malbartan Hospital.

From the moment of discovery, Hughes began weaving lies to escape responsibility. She told the first responders that Nada Jane had drowned herself, an impossibility that no one believed. She was immediately placed in psychiatric care and arrested that same night. For months, Hughes maintained her innocence, eventually crafting an elaborate fiction for the court.

Her version claimed she was bathing not a Jane when she left the bathroom to argue with a lie on the phone. She allegedly tripped over the family dog, cut her wrist on broken glass, and ran around the house trying to stop the bleeding. According to her story, when she returned to the bathroom, she found Nata Jane face down in the water.

She claimed the 4-year-old was too heavy for her to lift, a laughable assertion about a small child. Instead, she said she climbed into the tub herself and tried to revive the girl with cold water. Every element of this story was contradicted by evidence. There was no blood in the bathwater from Hugh’s alleged injury. The friend who discovered the scene found Nada Jane still floating face down, proving Hughes had made no real rescue attempt.

The forensic evidence showed clear signs of sexual assault, deliberate injury, and forcible drowning. Most telling of all, Hughes never called emergency services. Instead, she called her father and continued her text argument with a lie, even after allegedly discovering the unconscious child. This is not the behavior of someone trying to save a life.

Hugh’s trial began in April 2025 at the Johansburg High Court, where she faced two counts of rape and two counts of murder. She pleaded not guilty to all charges, maintaining her fiction of innocence. The proceedings were repeatedly delayed by Hugh’s claims of medical unfitness. She alleged dental problems and medication issues that left her unable to speak.

When Nada was with me and before Nada left, there was no bruising on her face. I didn’t notice any bruises on Nada. Please use I want to put it to you that you drowned the deceased. No. No. No. Never. He didn’t trust her. No. I never heard Nada. Convenient excuses that frustrated the court and devastated Natada Jane’s family.

Eli expressed his growing anger outside the courtroom. It’s horrible. It’s like the third time it’s happening. It’s not moving. We get stuck in the same place. This shows that the criminal has more rights than the victim. It’s horrible, brother. That’s like the third time it happens as you can see or if you I don’t know if you know.

It’s horrible. It’s it’s not moving. We’re getting stuck in the same place. We’re doing the same things we were doing in in the magistrate court before the matter comes to the high court. It’s it it doesn’t feel good. It doesn’t sit well. And this is when you see that this is when it shows you that the the system the the criminals got more rights than the victims in the system.

It’s in this part that proves it. During the trial, tensions erupted between the families. In June 2025, Nada Jane’s mother confronted Hughes in court, shouting, “Count your days. Your days are numbered.” Howard Hughes responded by making shocking accusations about the grieving parents, showing the same callous disregard for the victim’s family that his daughter had shown for their child.

Last year count days are number. You must be shy to open your masks. So this is what this is what child rapers and and killers looks like. Those two are what child rapers and killers looks like. You should be ashamed of yourself to walk with him. You should be ashamed of yourself to walk with him. You have children.

You have children. Think about what happened. You go put that where the sun doesn’t shine. Now, now I’m going to put you in jail. You shut your mouth because now I’m going to jail. My child. Now I’m going to put you in jail. You want some truth? Now I’m going to put you in jail. arrest.

Now I’m going to put you in jail. Me? Yeah. There you go. Thank you. You gave it to me. Thank you. You gave it to me. No one threatened you. No one threatened Arrested, buddy. Thank you. You’ve been arrested. There you go. On June 19th, 2025, Judge Richard M. Cabella was expected to deliver his verdict. The evidence against Hughes was overwhelming.

forensic testimony, witness accounts, her own contradictory statements, and the timeline that proved her guilt beyond any reasonable doubt. But for Nata Jane’s family, no verdict could bring back their little girl or undo the trauma of her final moments. The system that should have protected her had failed at every level.

And now they could only hope that justice would finally be served. This horror could have been avoided. The warning signs were impossible to miss. Open threats to kill the child, a documented history of domestic violence, destruction of property, jealousy toward a 4-year-old, and multiple violent incidents. Each sign was a cry for help that went unheated.

The failure wasn’t just personal, it was systemic. Social services ignored domestic violence reports involving a child. Law enforcement didn’t take threats against a 4-year-old seriously enough to remove the danger. The judicial system moved too slowly to protect an innocent victim. Most tragically, the people closest to Nata Jane failed her when she needed them most.

Her father, despite knowing Hughes was dangerous, continued to leave his daughter alone with a woman who had promised to kill her. If you see signs of child abuse, don’t remain silent. Adult jealousy toward a child is never normal. Threats against children must be taken seriously, no matter the context.

Domestic violence in the presence of children requires immediate intervention. Unstable behavior by a caregiver demands action. Call child protective services. Contact police. Don’t wait for someone else to act. Don’t assume that things will get better on their own. Every day of delay could cost a child their life. Nada Jane Chelita couldn’t protect herself.

She was just a 4-year-old who trusted the adults in her life. That trust was betrayed in the most horrific way imaginable. But we can honor her memory by protecting other children, by being vigilant, by speaking up when we see danger. Since Nata Jane’s death, her parents have reunited in their shared grief.

Amy Johnson speaks of their daughter with love and pain. Natada Jane and I always went fishing together. We always released the fish after we caught them. We also worked in the garden, loved to swim and play together. I still remember how she loved picking strawberries. She remembers how her daughter always asked for a flower during their walks to the park.

A simple request that Amy treasured and never refused. These memories are all that remain of a little girl who deserved to grow up, to laugh, to love, to live. Natada Jane Cholita lived only four years, but in that brief time, she brought joy to everyone who knew her. She loved animals, trusted people, and saw goodness in the world around her.

She deserved protection, care, and the chance to become whoever she might have been. Instead, she became the victim of evil that defies comprehension. If you’ve watched this far, I ask you to do several important things. Hit the subscribe button and turn on notifications. This story needs to be heard so similar tragedies don’t repeat.

Your thoughts could change someone’s life. Thank you for staying with me until the end of this difficult but important story. On June 19th, 2025, a judge will decide Amber Lee Hugh’s fate.

But no punishment can undo what was done to an innocent child. The only justice we can truly serve is to ensure that Nata Jane’s death makes other children safer. Justice for Nata Jane. Protection for all children. Never again. Missy was found unresponsive in her home on Kipling Court by Tallahassee police.

Detectives say much of her body was covered in bruises. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Investigators say they found injuries on the child which indicate abuse including bruises all over her body, binding on her wrists, and cuts on her face. Investigators also reviewed video from home cameras which they say showed the stepfather abusing the girl.

There’s days that I’ll see pictures of her and I’ll just start crying. It’s still really hard to talk about her. Over the years of investigations, I’ve seen many horrors, but the video recordings from 5-year-old Melissa Mogle’s bedroom made me stop several times while preparing this material. Hours of sadistic torture, systematic beatings, sexual abuse, starvation.

All of this recorded on camera by the child’s own parents. a girl who loved butterflies and said, “What a sunny day.” Every morning spent the last months of her life in real hell. And the most terrifying part, the system betrayed this child four times in a row. A child who was crying for help. This is a story about how a mother and stepfather methodically killed a 5-year-old girl.

How courts, police, and social services turned their backs on a child. and how the real monsters weren’t under the bed, but inside the house itself. I’m warning you, this story is not for the faint of heart. But it must be told because silence kills children. Friends, while you’re watching this story about Missy Mogle, please write in the comments what time you’re watching and your city.

This will help me understand when it’s better to publish such heavy material and where my audience is from. And please subscribe to the channel. Missy’s story needs to be heard and there are many more cases ahead that the system tries to cover up. Hi City, I love you. I miss you. Good night. Good night. I love you. On December 31st, 2019, while the world prepared to greet the new decade with fireworks and champagne, a far more important event was taking place in the small town of Wakla County, Florida.

17-year-old Khloe Mogle was giving birth to a daughter she would name Melissa, but to everyone she would simply be Missy. It seemed like such a symbolic moment, new life on the threshold of a new era. But fate had allotted this child only 5 years and a few months on this earth. And most of them would be filled with pain that no human being should experience, especially not a child.

Missy was a special girl from birth. Her hair shone like gold in the sunlight and her eyes sparkled with curiosity about the world. She adored everything Disney related. Minnie Mouse was her absolute idol. Pink and purple became her favorite colors which she wanted to wear everyday. But most of all, Missy loved butterflies. She could spend hours watching them in the garden, marveling at how they fluttered from flower to flower.

Every morning she would wake up and say, “What a sunny day.” even if there were clouds outside. Before breakfast, she would always ask her grandfather to make her maple oatmeal. This became their little tradition. But 17-year-old Chloe was not ready for motherhood. When Missy cried at night, as all babies do, the young mother would not approach the crib.

As the girl’s godmother, Jasmine Hartsfield, later recalled, Khloe wouldn’t go to her when she cried at night. So her grandfather and grandmother raised her practically from birth until she was four years old. This was salvation for little Missy. Her grandparents Pepper and Andy Mogle from Crawfordville became her real family.

The four years with her grandparents were the happiest in Missy’s short life. Grandfather Andy made her favorite maple oatmeal every morning. They played in the pool, caught butterflies in the garden. Grandmother Pepper read her princess stories before bed. and the girl would fall asleep dreaming of magical castles and kind fairies.

Missy flourished under their care. She was a bright, curious girl who saw beauty in everything around her. Neighbors remembered her as a child who always smiled and greeted everyone. One pastor would later say, “Missy was a bright, sweet soul. She was full of character and was the mother hen of the family. Missy loved babies, loved caring for them, watching over them, making sure they were safe, and giving them all her love.

But happiness could not last forever. In 2021, when Khloe turned 19, she married Daniel Alan Spencer, a man 12 years older. Jasmine Hartzfield, who had known Kloe since Waca High School, remembered her as a normal, sweet person. We never thought anything like this would happen. She was a sweet person in her youth. She only changed after she got involved with Daniel.

Daniel didn’t hide his aggressive nature. He would yell at Khloe, who became quiet and submissive around him. Soon after the wedding, Khloe stopped answering calls from the Mogle family, isolating herself from support. Khloe and Daniel already had three small children aged 1 to three when Florida courts made a fateful decision in January 2024.

They ruled to return 4-year-old Missy to her mother, declaring 23-year-old Khloe suitable for child rearing. This was the first system failure, as the family would bitterly note later, this would have been the perfect time for the courts to see that she was better off with her grandparents, but they failed her. When Missy ended up in the house on Kipling Court in the Southwood area of Tallahassee, her life changed dramatically.

The house belonged to Robert Frabel and now Chloe, Daniel, Missy, and three other small children of Khloe’s lived there. Almost immediately, the girl developed unexplained injuries. In February 2024, Daniel was caught in operation spring cleaning, an anti-popile operation conducted by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. For 5 hours, he corresponded with a 15-year-old girl who turned out to be an undercover police officer.

When the girl mentioned her age, Daniel cynically replied, “Age is just a number.” On April 15th, 2025, he was found guilty of attempting to meet a minor for sex. Prosecutors begged the judge to keep the convicted pedophile in prison until sentencing, understanding the danger to the children in the house. But Judge Tiffany Baker Carper released Daniel on bail straight back to the house with 5-year-old Missy and three other small children.

This was the second system failure. State Attorney Jack Campbell would later say bitterly, “If he had been in jail, he wouldn’t have had access to children.” In July 2024, the third system failure occurred. An anonymous call came to the DCF Child Protection Service reporting that Daniel was abusing 5-year-old Missy. According to DCF documents, the girl said that her stepfather put his hand around her throat and touched her inappropriately when he was angry.

The 5-year-old child found the courage to ask for help, but the system failed her again. DCF began an investigation but hastily closed the case after Khloe’s promise that Missy would live with her aunt without contact with Daniel. The Tallahassee police also investigated the allegations but claimed there were insufficient grounds.

As prosecutor Campbell later explained, at 5 years old, her ability to testify was questionable at best and we had no independent witnesses or physical evidence. Generally, children under seven are considered incompetent because they cannot understand the concept of perjury. Temporarily, Missy was indeed sent to live with her aunt where she was safe.

But in October 2024, the fourth and final system failure occurred. DCF returned the girl to Khloe and Daniel despite all previous allegations. This was a death sentence for the 5-year-old child. From October 2024 to May 2025, Missy lived in real hell. Daniel, understanding his impunity, launched a campaign of terror against the defenseless child.

He installed surveillance cameras in the girl’s bedroom, not for safety, but to record his abuse. Hours of video recordings captured inhuman torment that later shocked even experienced detectives. The recordings show Daniel brutally beating the 5-year-old girl, twisting her arms with such force that the cracking of bones could be heard.

He pushed her face into the bed until she lost consciousness, tied her hands and feet with ropes for hours, suffocated her with pillows and blankets. Particularly sadistic was that he burned her fingers with hot objects, possibly a lighter or cigarettes. The video showed Daniel drenched in sweat from his efforts. His shirt was wet.

He constantly wiped his face. Torturing the child was real physical labor for him. Khloe didn’t just observe what was happening. She actively participated in the abuse. Cameras captured the mother standing over her daughter who was curled up in a fetal position with a shoe in her hand, ready to strike. Later, Khloe would cynically confess to police, “I hit her with the shoe.

” The mother, who should have protected her child, became an accomplice to torture. Daniel also regularly committed sexual abuse against the girl. Medical examination later revealed signs of sexual abuse, and traces of biological fluids on Missy’s underwear confirmed the worst fears. During these acts of violence, Daniel often strangled the girl with his hands, leaving marks on her neck.

Khloe would later confess to police that Daniel became addicted to drugs and hit Melissa with a belt twice a day for the last 3 weeks before her death. But even this confession didn’t reflect the full scale of the horror. There was food in the house, but the child was starved as part of the torture. The autopsy showed severe malnutrition.

At 5 years old, Missy weighed less than a three-year-old child should weigh. May 19th, 2025, a Sunday morning, became the last day of Missy’s life. Daniel, under the influence of drugs, unleashed a final wave of violence against the girl. She had bruises in various stages of healing all over her body. Proof of systematic torture over months.

Ligure marks on her wrists showed regular use of ropes to bind her hands and feet. Burns on her fingers testified to the use of heated objects to cause pain. If this story has already made you shudder, please share this video. Perhaps your repost will help save another child. Write in the comments in one sentence what you’re feeling right now. But prepare yourself.

The most shocking part is still ahead. What you’ll see next will change your understanding of human cruelty. At some point in the morning, Daniel strangled the 5-year-old girl to death. But instead of immediately calling for help, he spent precious time inventing a story. When the emergency call came in at 7:44 a.m.

, Daniel told a fabricated story about the girl having a tantrum and holding her breath to manipulate her parents. He claimed he closed the door to her room and walked away. And when he returned, he found her unconscious. But police immediately noticed suspicious bruising and injury patterns on the child’s body.

When medics arrived at the scene, they were shocked by what they saw. As Godmother Jasmine Hartzfield later recalled, she had cuts on her face, bruises on her legs were so severe they had turned black. She had been tied up and suffocated. They beat her so badly that she was unrecognizable. Grandfather Robert Frabel was attempting CPR when police arrived.

The girl was rushed to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, but at 8:34 a.m. doctors pronounced her dead. Medical staff with 25 years of experience said they had never seen anything like it. Extensive bruising, cuts on her face, liature marks on wrists, burns on fingers. Daniel at the scene showed all signs of drug intoxication.

He was fidgeting, sweating profusely in an airond conditioned environment. Pupils were constricted. Khloe coldly told police details of the beatings as if discussing the weather. She reported that Daniel had recently become addicted to drugs and that he hit Melissa with a belt on her buttocks and legs twice a day. Both began blaming each other.

Daniel claimed that all the blame lay with Khloe, while Khloe denied his accusations, but could not explain her daughter’s extensive injuries. Police seized the SD card with torture videos, bloodied clothing, and pillows, instruments of abuse. DNA analysis later confirmed Missy’s blood on more than 30 items in the house.

On May 27th, 2025, after the medical examiner officially determined that death resulted from murder by strangulation, Daniel and Khloe Spencer were charged with secondderee murder. The judge prohibited them from any contact with each other, with witnesses, or with minors, including their own children.

Khloe’s three younger children, aged 1 to three, were removed from the home and placed with other family members. On May 29th, 2025, more than 100 people dressed in pink and purple. Missy’s favorite colors gathered at the Southwood Community Center to honor the girl’s memory. People blew soap bubbles, drew with chalk on the pavement, remembering the little girl who loved butterflies, and called Everyday Sunny.

Ashley Chambers, a mother of two who organized the event, said she should have been playing on that playground and catching butterflies in that garden. She should have been learning to swim in that pool and riding her bike around the lake. She’s not here and it’s heartbreaking. On June 14th, a celebration of life ceremony for Missy is planned at Pioneer Baptist Church in Crawfordville.

Her grandparents, who gave her four happy years, are now planning the funeral of a granddaughter whom the system failed to protect. Prosecutor Jack Campbell stated his intentions. I don’t want him to spend a single day free, so I never have to worry about him harming another child again. Daniel Spencer awaits trial and could receive up to 20 years in prison for his previous conviction on charges of sex with a minor, plus life imprisonment for murder.

The story of Missy Mogle is not just the tragedy of one family. It is an indictment of an entire system that betrayed an innocent child four times in a row. The court returned her to an unprepared mother. A judge released a convicted pedophile. DCF ignored reports of sexual abuse. Police didn’t believe the words of a 5-year-old child.

Each of these failures brought the tragic finale closer. Please like this video. Not for me, but for Missy’s memory.  Silence kills children and your repost could become the voice of those who are no longer with us. Today, Missy would still be 5 years old. She would be preparing for her sixth birthday on New Year’s Eve, drawing butterflies in kindergarten notebooks, asking her grandfather to make maple oatmeal. Instead, we remember a girl who saw beauty in everyday but became a victim of the ugliest evil imaginable.

A petition was created in Missy’s memory, calling for reform of the child protection system. The petition demands prohibiting the placement of children in homes where there are individuals with charges for serious crimes against minors. To date, hundreds of people have signed the petition. But this is not enough to prevent new victims.

Remember Missy Mogle? Remember the girl who loved butterflies, pink and purple colors, Disney and Minnie Mouse. Remember the child who called everyday sunny, even when the darkest clouds were gathering in her own life. And never forget that sometimes your call to child protective services might be a child’s only hope for salvation.

The system failed Missy, but we must not fail other children who need our help
