GOOD Morning America host Janai Norman’s former co-hosts are sending a powerful message to ABC in the wake of her firing.
Janai was unexpectedly pulled off her GMA weekend slot earlier this month.
GMA co-hosts Whit Johnson and Gio Benitez showed their support for Janai at a joint dinner with the rest of the ABC morning show’s crew.
Janai had been an anchor on GMA’s weekend show since 2022 before her abrupt departure.
Whit, who was a fixture on GMA during the weekdays, took over Janai’s weekend anchor slot.
Despite the shakeup, Whit is standing by Janai in a new snap shared to Instagram.
“A night of laughter and love with this crew! Always a blast!” Whit captioned the post.
Also pictured was Gio, Janai’s former co-host, and his husband Tommy DiDario.
ABC News correspondent Andrea Fujii and GMA correspondent Will Ganss were at the dinner, along with Ariel Miller, the showrunner of GMA weekend, and her husband, Blaine Lewis-Thompson.
Janai was all smiles in the sweet photo as she wrapped her arm around her husband, Eli.
The former host was also sure to snag a pic with her GMA crew – Whit, Ariel, Will, and Gio.
Janai took to social media earlier this month to announce that ABC had decided not to renew her contract.
“I’d hoped that we’d have more time. It’s been hard on me that our time was cut short. I have loved my job,” the TV star said.
“It has been a joy to connect with my coworkers and with viewers to help keep you informed and entertained and to create this community.
“So, it really breaks my heart that I don’t get to say goodbye. I’m so sorry that I don’t get to say goodbye. It would have been fun.”
Janai thanked fans for their support and apologized for her abrupt exit from the show.
“So, stay tuned! I’m sorry. I feel you,” she said.
