Today Host Sheinelle Jones Uncovers a Haunting Secret Stashed in Her $2.3 Million Estate as She Erases the Remnants of Her Late Husband!

Sheinelle Jones Faces Bittersweet Move a Year After Husband’s Death — Nearly Tossed Her Wedding Dress in the Process

Sheinelle Jones, 48, the beloved “Today” co-host, is embarking on a deeply emotional chapter of her life—a year after the tragic passing of her husband, Uche Ojeh. The TV star revealed this week that she is moving out of the New York home she shared with Ojeh, a process that has brought both heartache and unexpected treasures from her past.

In an intimate conversation with co-host Jenna Bush Hager on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle, Jones opened up about the daunting task of packing up their longtime Livingston Manor home. “I’m moving. The kids are going to a new school, so we’re moving. I have been going through boxes and boxes and boxes in our basement,” she said, reflecting on the years of memories tucked away in storage.

Some of the items Jones uncovered had been packed away for more than a decade, dating back to her family’s move from Philadelphia to New York when she first joined NBC. The sheer volume of forgotten belongings left Jones contemplating a drastic approach. “I started, after a while, not even wanting to look through boxes. I’m like, ‘Just throw it out. If I haven’t seen it in five years, just throw it out,’” she admitted.

Thankfully, a timely intervention from her babysitter prevented a sentimental catastrophe. Jones revealed she nearly discarded her wedding dress, safely stored in an old suitcase, before her helper insisted they go through every box. The moment of rediscovery was poignant. “Look what happened. I found this old suitcase and I unzipped it, and it was my wedding dress,” she said, laughing through tears.

Jones shared a lighthearted video of herself pulling the strapless white gown from the bag, noting its imperfect condition from past photoshoots around Philadelphia. “Everybody told me to preserve it, but I didn’t. The bottom is all dirty. Uche and I took pictures all over the streets,” she recalled with a wistful smile. She confessed that her perspective on the dress has changed in the wake of her husband’s death. “I immediately thought, ‘Oh my goodness, I never had it preserved. Is it too late?’”

The wedding gown was far from the only sentimental item uncovered during the move. Jones laughed as she admitted she even found the bumpers from her children’s cribs, prompting a playful scolding from Hager: “Well, those you need to get rid of. Tell me you didn’t keep the bumpers!”

While the family’s next home has yet to be revealed, Jones has left fans reflecting on the delicate balance of moving forward while honoring the past. She and Ojeh had purchased their 10-bedroom Livingston Manor property for $725,000 in 2017, which is now valued at approximately $2.3 million. Though still registered under both their names, the house is yet to hit the market.

This move comes on the heels of another milestone—Jones’ 48th birthday on April 19. She spent the day on a book tour away from home, sharing her experiences and reflections with fans, marking the occasion as a “perfect moment” to process her grief and update followers on how she has been coping since Ojeh’s passing.

Through all of this, Jones has been candid about the challenges of navigating grief while supporting her three children, Kayin, 16, and twins Clara and Uche, 13. In previous interviews, she has opened up about helping them manage the profound loss of their father while also trying to reclaim a sense of normalcy in their lives.

Her moving journey is more than just a change of address—it is a step toward healing, a careful sorting of memories, and a reminder that some treasures, like her wedding dress, are worth holding onto, no matter how dusty or worn.
