SHOCKING: 5min ago! Breakthrough in Lilly & Jack Sullivan Case | RCMP FINAL UPDATE Reveals a Horror!

I feel so happy that I’m getting my little Lily back. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, RCMP, has released an update on missing children Lily Sullivan and Jack Sullivan in Nova Scotia. It’s not a voluntary trek into the woods. You only have one other option. If there’s no abduction, that option is a criminal investigation.

What we learned about the mother of Lily and Jack Sullivan in June 2025 has turned this entire case upside down. Information that was hidden from the public has finally come to light and revealed the true face of Melia Brooks Murray. A woman who should have been devastated by grief instead methodically destroyed all connections to her missing children.

A woman who should have been begging for help chose complete silence. A woman who should have stayed near the scene of the disappearance fled and never returned. Today, we’re going to tell the story not about missing children. We’re going to tell about a mother whose behavior became the key to solving one of Canada’s darkest mysteries.

Hey everyone, if you’ve been following the Lily and Jack Sullivan case, you know something felt wrong from the very beginning. But what we’ve discovered about their mother, Mel Hia Brooks Murray, has exceeded our wildest theories. Hit the like button if you’re ready for shocking revelations.  Write where you’re watching from. It’s interesting to know how globally this case has captured attention. In the world of criminal investigations, there’s an unspoken rule. A parents behavior in the first 48 hours after a child’s disappearance speaks louder than any evidence. And Melia Brooks Murray’s behavior during those critical hours was so abnormal that experts are still studying it as a textbook example.

Melia Brooks Murray was born in 1998 into a Mcmack family in Nova Scotia. Her mother, Cindy Murray, raised her daughter in the traditions of indigenous people. But Malia’s life was marked by instability from an early age. By 23, she already had two children by a man who, according to officials, was not involved in raising them.

Some reports suggested the children’s father was under house arrest, but even this detail remained unconfirmed. In 2023, Maleia met Daniel Mardell, a man 6 years older who worked at a local sawmill. Their relationship developed quickly and soon Male Hia moved into his isolated house on Gerallock Road in Lanstown Station.

A year later they had a daughter named Meadow. On the surface, everything looked like a typical story of a young family trying to build a life in rural Nova Scotia. But beneath this appearance of normally lurked troubling signs. Neighbors remembered strange activity at the house. Cars arriving late at night, loud voices, smells they couldn’t identify.

One neighbor later admitted to reporters, “I always thought something was going on there, but I never thought children lived there.” Malia was registered as a stay-at-home mom, but those who knew the family spoke of her frequent absences, especially in the evenings. Daniel worked only one day a week, a fact that puzzled everyone familiar with the lumber industry.

How did a family of five survive on such income? This question would become critically important when the investigation began. Miley’s relationship with the children also raised questions. School teachers described Lily and Jack as quiet children who often came to school tired. Bus driver Brian Ward remembered that the children sometimes fell asleep on the bus ride home, which is unusual for energetic six and four-year-olds.

But the most troubling aspect of family life was the children’s isolation. In a community where everyone knows everyone, Lily and Jack remained practically invisible. They had no friends in the neighborhood, didn’t participate in community events, and were rarely seen playing in the yard. This isolation would become a key factor in how long their absence went unnoticed.

The last week of April 2025 became a turning point in the Sullivan family’s life. From April 29th, the children no longer appeared at school. Melia explained their absence as Lily’s illness, but no medical records of this illness were found. What was happening in the house during those days remains one of the case’s main mysteries.

On May 1st, an event occurred that completely changed understanding of the case. According to RCMP data published on May 28th, 2025, the children were observed in public with family members in New Glasgow. This information was shocking. If the children were alive and healthy on the afternoon of May 1st, what happened in the next 18 hours? On May 2nd at 10:00 a.m.

, Male Hia Brooks Murray made a call that changed everything. Her voice on the 911 recording was surprisingly calm for a mother reporting the disappearance of two small children. The dispatcher later noted that Malia spoke mechanically without the emotions that usually accompany such calls. “My children are missing,” she said in a simple almost business-like tone.

When the dispatcher asked for details, Maleia gave brief laconic answers without the panic or despair characteristic of parents in such situations. This call would become the first red flag in a long series of suspicious behavior. In the first hours after the call, Mileia’s behavior continued to puzzle rescue services.

Instead of participating in organizing searches, she remained in the house, speaking with officials in the same monotonous voice. Search and rescue coordinators expected to see a griefstricken mother begging for more resources. Instead, they met a woman who seemed detached from what was happening. The first and only television interview Malia gave was on May 3rd, less than 24 hours after the disappearance.

This interview became the subject of intensive analysis by body language experts around the world. Her posture was closed, her eyes avoided direct contact with a camera, and her speech lacked the emotional coloring expected from a mother of missing children. I just want to stay as hopeful as possible, she said.

But her face expressed no hope. I want them home, she added. But her voice sounded like she was ordering coffee. But the most troubling was her explanation. We always make sure we’re out there with them watching them and they just got out that sliding door and we can’t hear it when it opens. This statement contained a glaring contradiction.

If they always watch the children, how could they sleep through their departure? The absence of tears, trembling in her voice, or any other signs of emotional stress was so striking that the interview was analyzed by FBI specialists as an example of abnormal behavior. But even before this interview, Melia had taken an action that many perceived as an attempt to control the narrative.

She published a Facebook post demanding police issue an Amber Alert. “I want my babies home. My children are not shy to strangers and will go with anyone. They don’t understand stranger danger,” she wrote. This post became one of the most disturbing aspects of her behavior. Malhian not only insisted on the abduction theory, but herself described how easily her children could be taken.

Any mother knows such information isn’t published on social media. It can be used against the children. But Malhia seemed to be giving instructions to potential kidnappers. But the most shocking was what happened immediately after this interview. Malehia didn’t return to the search coordination center.

Instead, she went to a search and rescue briefing on Landown Station Road. According to witnesses, she appeared there with Daniel. But her behavior was strange from the very beginning. In the middle of a presentation about search progress, male he suddenly got up and left. Witnesses described her movements as purposeful, not panicked.

She got into an ambulance which initially caused concern among those present who thought she had become ill. But this wasn’t a medical problem. This was a panic attack. What could have caused such a reaction in a woman who had seemed surprisingly calm before? Perhaps the information at the briefing contradicted what she knew about the children’s final hours.

Perhaps she realized the searches were moving in a direction that could expose her lies. When her mother, Cindy Murray, arrived, Melia took 16-month-old Meadow and left the area. She didn’t say goodbye to Daniel, didn’t leave contact information for search coordinators, didn’t give any explanations.

She simply disappeared, leaving behind only questions and growing suspicions. This moment became a turning point in the Sullivan case. Within hours of Malia’s departure, the atmosphere at the coordination center changed. Volunteers began whispering. Officials exchanged puzzled looks. The mother’s behavior was so unprecedented that many didn’t know how to react.

That same evening, Melia committed an act that shocked even the most cynical observers. She went on Facebook and changed her relationship status from in a relationship to single. She also changed her profile photo. These actions were recorded by several social media users who couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

Changing family status on social media less than 36 hours after children’s disappearance was an act without precedent in criminal history. Family psychology experts described this as behavior of someone who didn’t expect family reunification. This wasn’t an act of despair or confusion. This was a cold calculated move.

From this moment, Melia Brooks Murray effectively disappeared from the case of her own children’s disappearance. She blocked Daniel on all social media, refused to answer journalists calls, and didn’t appear at any public events related to searching for Lily and Jack. Her disappearance created a vacuum in the investigation. Police were forced to rely on Daniel’s testimony and other family members.

But the mother’s voice, the most important witness, was lost. This silence began speaking louder than any words. When journalists tried to contact Melia in subsequent weeks, her response was always the same. RCMP advised me not to talk to media, but criminal behavior experts knew such advice is usually given to suspects, not victims.

Police encourage parents of missing children to actively interact with the press, as this helps maintain public attention and can attract witnesses. The advice for Mileyia to remain silent indicated she was not a victim but a potential suspect. Her status in the investigation changed from victim mother to person of interest.

This change happened surprisingly quickly, suggesting police had strong grounds for suspicion. Meanwhile, Malia settled with her mother in Wentworth, Nova Scotia, about an hour’s drive from the disappearance scene. She not only left the house where she last saw her children, but moved to another jurisdiction, complicating police procedures.

This move also meant she was physically removed from any potential discoveries or new search operations. Maleha’s decision to leave the search area was particularly striking in the context of Mcmack culture to which the children belonged. In indigenous traditions, family and community stay together during difficult times, supporting each other.

Melheia’s departure contradicted not only maternal instincts, but the cultural norms of her own people. Chief Michelle Glasgow from Cypnikatic First Nation made several public statements about the case, calling for unity and support, but notably upset was any personal support or mention of Melheia. This silence in the tightly connected indigenous community was eloquent.

It suggested even her own community had questions about her behavior. In Mcmack traditions, family and community remain together during difficult times, supporting each other. Melia’s departure contradicted not only maternal instincts, but the cultural norms of her own people. The fact that her tribe made official statements about the children but nowhere mentioned support for their mother spoke louder than any words.

As the investigation continued, the strangenesses in Mileia’s behavior only accumulated. On June 2nd, 2025, a public prayer was held in Stellarin for Lily and Jack. Hundreds of people gathered to honor the children’s memory and support the searches. Strangers came whose hearts were touched by the children’s story.

Participants prayed, cried, and shared memories of children they had never seen. Tonight is about saying a prayer, and we’re going to light the way home for them. A paper lantern for four-year-old Jack. Another for six-year-old Lily, released into the twilight sky as a beacon of hope. Illuminate the path for Lily and Jack. Guide their footsteps home.

One by one, people placed candles, teddy bears, and angels outside the Stellarton RCMP detachment, a growing memorial as many questions are still unanswered. Investigators remain committed to exploring all possibilities surrounding the children’s disappearance. We want to thank all those who provided tips and information.

Please know that we’re fully engaged in finding out what happened to Lily and Jack. Some family members of the two children looked on as dozens of community members showed they care. It’s like every parent’s worst nightmare. You don’t ever want to have to ever go through something like this. And I think it’s good to show them that their community is here for support if they need it.

[Music] torch. There we go. That one’s going to rip. So, we got to get the other one. There we go. There she’s away now. Up there. There it’s going. There it’s going. There. It’s going. It’s going. Don’t hit the wire. It’s going. But Malhia didn’t appear. The mother’s

absence from an event dedicated to her own children was so shocking that organizers were forced to give explanations to the press. Seeing strangers crying for Lily and Jack while their own mother stayed home was unbearable for many present. This absence became a symbol of her complete alienation from the tragedy she herself had created.

This absence was particularly painful because even strangers attended who were deeply moved by the children’s story. Seeing unknown people crying for Lily and Jack while their own mother remained at home was unbearable for many attendees. Some participants openly expressed their anger and confusion about her absence. Analysis of Miley’s social media for the period before the disappearance also revealed troubling patterns.

Her last posts before May 2nd were unusually dark with hints at difficult times and need for changes. Even more troubling was that within 48 hours of the disappearance, she began calling the children angels, a word parents usually avoid at all costs unless they’ve reached an unthinkable conclusion. For most, this word is reserved for memorials, spoken in whispers months, sometimes years after getting final answers.

But for Melia, it came immediately, almost rehearsed, as if grief had skipped denial entirely and landed somewhere much more practiced. Digital forensics experts also noted that Maleia’s social media activity drastically changed after May 2nd. She stopped making typical parental posts, deleted many family photos, and changed privacy settings.

These actions suggested a conscious attempt to distance herself from her role as Lily and Jack’s mother. When RCMP published information that the children were seen on May 1st in New Glasgow, Malha’s behavior took on an even more sinister tone. She knew about this video recording from the very beginning, but never used this information constructively.

Any innocent mother would have used these frames to appeal to witnesses, clarify timelines, show that the children were healthy and happy. Instead, Malhia kept silent about this critically important information. Her silence suggested she knew drawing attention to the children’s final hours was dangerous for her.

This silence was perhaps the most incriminating aspect of her behavior. By June 2025, the picture was clear to all objective observers. Male Habrooks Murray demonstrated behavior that completely contradicted that of an innocent mother of missing children. Every action from the mechanical interview to changing social media status, from leaving the briefing to complete disappearance, pointed to knowledge of a terrible truth.

Her behavior became a textbook example for law enforcement agencies worldwide. Courses on investigating child disappearances now include analysis of the Sullivan case as an example of how parental behavior can reveal truth even before discovering physical evidence. The story of Malia Brooks Murray is the story of a woman who chose to keep secrets instead of searching for her children.

It’s the story of a mother who preferred self-preservation over maternal love. And perhaps most terrifyingly, it’s the story of a woman who knew her children didn’t need rescue because there was no one left to rescue. The Lily and Jack Sullivan case continues. But one thing has become crystal clear. Their mother knows the truth.

And this truth is so horrible that she’s ready to carry it in silence, even if it means justice for her children may never prevail. The story of Melia Brooks Murray showed us only one side of this horrifying tragedy. But what we learned about her behavior was only the beginning. Because when we start analyzing Daniel Mardell’s behavior, the children’s stepfather, the picture becomes even more shocking.

If you thought the mother’s coldness was horrifying, wait until you hear about how the man who was supposed to protect these children behaved, his contradictory testimony, his theatrical emotions before cameras, and most importantly, his knowledge of details he shouldn’t have known. Don’t leave. Now, I’m going to show you the complete picture of this case.

What you’ll learn about Daniel Mardell and what really happened in that house will exceed all your worst assumptions. Hit like if you’re ready to learn the whole truth. And get ready for the continuation of an investigation that will completely change your understanding of the Sullivan case. Because the story I’m about to tell will prove once and for all this wasn’t a search for missing children.

This was an attempt to cover up a crime. Liam, come sing. [Music] Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Liy [Applause] Liy Lily stop honey [Music] everybody. Happy birthday. Say happy birthday. Happy birthday. Members here on Glock Road. We just had

a 911 call. Can I go ahead with the details? Two kids. Um the sixyear-old is the girl, I believe, and she’s wearing pink. The four-year-old is wearing some blue dinosaur boots. Warning, this video contains information that official media won’t show you. What you’re about to learn will forever change how you see this case, and the devastating reality behind the parents behavior will become impossible to ignore.

A mother reports missing children without tears. The stepfather knows exactly what clothes the child was wearing that he didn’t see. The family falls apart instead of coming together. Relatives accuse the stepfather on the very first day. By evening, the mother changes her relationship status on social media. 24 hours.

That’s exactly how long it took to understand. This wasn’t a search for missing children. This was an attempt to cover up a crime. You felt something wasn’t right. You were right. Lily and Jack deserve to have the truth heard, no matter how heartbreaking it might be. On the morning of May 2nd, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., police received a call about two missing children from rural Nova Scotia.

6-year-old Lily and 4-year-old Jack Sullivan disappeared from their home on Gearlock Road in Landown Station. From the very first moment, this case caused alarming feelings in everyone who followed it. The case didn’t feel right from the very beginning. Too many red flags appeared simultaneously. Lily was a bright girl with chestnut hair who loved to draw.

On the kitchen walls hung her drawings, including a touching message. My mom bakes cupcakes, plays with toys, and watches movies. I love my mom. Four-year-old Jack loved bugs and dinosaurs. Could spend hours digging in the dirt looking for insects. The children were best friends, inseparable companions, a fact that made their simultaneous disappearance even more suspicious.

What are the odds that two children would simultaneously decide to go into a dense forest? Male Hugh Brooks Murray, a 27-year-old mother from the Mcmack people, moved in with Daniel Martell 2 years ago. Daniel, a 33-year-old sawmill worker, received only one shift per week, a detail that immediately alarmed anyone familiar with the lumber industry.

Anyone who worked in this industry knows workers aren’t hired for one day a week. It’s either full employment or unemployment. How did a family of five survive on income from one day of work? The couple had a shared 16-month-old daughter, Meadow. Strangely, the biological father of the two older children wasn’t even mentioned in police reports, an extremely unusual situation for such investigations.

The family lived in a dilapidated trailer in an isolated area. The condition of their yard shocked everyone who saw the photos. Toys mixed with auto parts, junk everywhere. Daniel’s mother lived right there in a semi-destroyed van with cats and a dog. But the most disturbing thing, 4-year-old Jack still wore diapers.

For most observers, this was a clear sign of neglect or developmental delay. According to Daniel’s version, on the morning of May 2nd, he and Malia were dozing in the bedroom with the baby when Lily came and went several times, and Jack could be heard in the kitchen. Around 8:20 a.m., silence fell. But here, an obvious question arose.

What parents of small children stay in bed when the children are already awake and wandering around the house? Most parents would get up to feed the children breakfast, change Jack’s diaper, give Lily cough medicine. Daniel claims the children silently went out through the sliding door. But anyone who saw this decrepit trailer understood no door there could be silent.

The first thing that shocked everyone was the mother’s unnatural calmness. In a CTV News interview, Mileia spoke like someone reading a script. I’m just staying as hopeful as possible. I want them home. I want to hold them and I want them home. What happened was we woke up. I heard them playing in the next room beside us.

And I was drifting in and out of sleep. And they’re not the type of kids that we tell them not to go outside on their own. We always make sure that we’re out there with them watching them. And they happen to just get out that sliding door and we can’t hear it when it opens. and they were outside playing, but we weren’t aware of it at the time.

And the next thing we knew, the room, like it was quiet. And we get up and I tell him, my partner Daniel, I tell him, “Do you hear the kids?” And he says, “No.” And we get up instantly. We’re we’re looking outside. We’re looking everywhere, yelling for them. And I instantly just call 911 as just I just had the instinct I needed to call.

They’re both really go-lucky children. They’re so sweet. They talk to anyone. They’ll talk your ear off. They um they will speak to anyone in a store. They everyone. They’re just extremely sweet kids. I appreciate the huge surf search effort going on right now, but we’ve been pushing for an Amber Alert, which hasn’t been issued.

Not just that they could possibly be abducted, which it is a possibility that they could have been, but just an alert to let everyone know that they are missing. We had people text me saying that they weren’t aware. someone else let them know that they were missing and it would be just be nice if everyone could be alerted.

We thought maybe that we found tracks, but it’s still uncertain. It’s been raining and they’re probably soaking wet, but with the sun today, I’m hopeful that they are feeling warm. We’re all filled with pain and sorrow because we just want them found. We want them home. Everyone loves them. They are definitely verbal and they do have possible autism, but it’s not extreme autism.

It’s just they have um issues with um school and uh they don’t catch up with the other kids. I’m just I just want to remain hopeful. But there’s always in a mother’s mind, you’re always thinking the worst. Last night was one of the worst nights because I didn’t have them in their beds and I don’t want to go through that another night without them.

Most mothers in such a situation would be hysterical, sobbing, begging for help. Male heel looked like she was discussing the weather. There wasn’t a single tear, not a sign of real despair. Daniel also demonstrated strangely controlled behavior. He knew exactly that Lily was wearing a pink shirt, heard Jack in the kitchen, but then added, “I did not see Jack that morning while somehow knowing exactly that the boy was wearing blue dinosaur boots.

” How can you know a child’s shoes if you didn’t see them? I know they took their boots. That’s pink boots for Lily, blue boots for Jack with dinosaurs on them. Lily had her backpack with white and it was white strawberries on it. I imagine now if they’re in the woods that it’ be probably brown, but I don’t see them carrying their backpack.

I don’t see them keeping a pull-up on for that long after it got soaked from the very first day. We only found the two boot tracks outside of the house. Whereabouts? Uh right beside the house probably 10 ft away from backyard. In the backyard. Okay. Nothing new other than the helicopters are still in the air and they had dogs.

They took around the dogs today and they as of last night they had eight more drones going on with infrared. I urge the public to come out as f if you have anything, come out as fast as possible and get it to any detachment or any police service that you have available to get to talk to. And the Jack just absolutely loves bugs, dinosaurs, and anything like that.

But Lily, Lily loves girly things, but she also love doing everything with Jack Bugs. They’re like best friends, not just brother and sister. We’ve heard a lot about how the impact that this is having uh on the community at large and the family and uh it’s really important that we we locate these children and get the information uh from the scene here and and from anyone who might have uh information about the kids and their habits.

So, it’s been really important to uh to have engagement from from anyone who uh knows these kids. We’re operating uh on a search right now um to to locate them um from having wandered. So um that’s the goal that we’re all working towards here. I know that all of the information that has been collected is is being looked at carefully by GASAR and by uh the investigators and the police on scene to ensure that our our best practices are followed uh in order to establish where where the searches need to be concentrated and focused.

But even more disturbing was his constant use of the past tense. Jack just loved bugs. Lily loved girly things. Even unprepared viewers noticed. He spoke about the children as if they were already dead. By the end of the first day, something unprecedented in the history of missing children’s searches occurred.

An open fight broke out between families in the houseyard. while he has relatives, people who had known the children their entire lives, directly accused Daniel of involvement in the disappearance. Such accusations don’t arise from nothing. My mother had to kick people off the property because they were saying I did it.

Daniel later recounted, “My mother had to kick kick uh kick some people off the property cuz they were saying that I did it. I had something to do with it and I’m the only one here fighting for them, which is sad.” No idea. I had no idea. I’m still searching every day. Still searching every day. I’m waiting for information.

I have to let them do a lot of their a lot of their stuff with the aircrafts and everything else and dogs and searchers. There’s a lot of stuff that needs to be coordinated and I can’t just go run into the woods. I want to, but I just can’t right now cuz the searchers are so far out. While his family saw something that made them immediately suspect the stepfather.

But the most incredible turn happened the next day on May 3rd. Melheia and Daniel went to a search and rescue briefing. According to Daniel’s testimony, Melhia suddenly left the briefing in the middle of the presentation, got into an ambulance and then left with her mother, taking 16-month-old Meadow.

She blocked Daniel on all social media, and stopped all communication with him. Imagine your children disappeared less than 24 hours ago. There’s a briefing about the search and you just leave in the middle of the presentation. Any real mother would stay until the end, ask questions, demand more resources.

Even more shocking was that male hea found time to go on Facebook, change her relationship status to single, and change her profile photo. The family completely fell apart in 24 hours at a time when normal parents unite in the face of tragedy. This reminded many viewers of the Chris Watts case. Just try not to too much. Okay. So, you can give your personal last name. Uh Chris Watts, WATS.

Wow. What’s going on right now around your house? Right now, it’s got K9 units, the sheriff’s department. Everybody’s like they’re they’re doing their best right now to figure out like if they can get a scent and see where they went. If they went on foot, they went in a car, they went somewhere. The same cold, calculating behavior, the same concern with personal image instead of searching for children.

Disturbing details emerged. The children didn’t attend school all week, allegedly because of Lily’s cough. But there were no doctor visits, prescriptions, or medical certificates. School bus driver Brian Ward confirmed he last saw the children on Tuesday, April 29th. So those critical days before the disappearance, the children spent exclusively with their parents.

What happened in these lost 72 hours? Were the children even alive by Friday? Rumors appeared about a noisy party the night before the disappearance. Neighbors saw many unfamiliar cars that stayed until 2:00 in the morning. One neighbor later admitted to journalists that he always thought the house was used for drug dealing and didn’t even know children lived there.

Such activity in a house with small children raised obvious questions about the parents priorities. On May 3rd, just 24 hours after the disappearance, the RCMP major crime unit was already involved in the investigation. Such units deal with murders, not missing children. Their immediate involvement indicated that police suspected the worst from the first hours, and what they suspected would prove to be tragically accurate.

But the biggest mystery remained the other people on the property. Daniel’s mother and brother lived on the same territory, but somehow didn’t figure in the stories about that morning. Where were they? What did they see? Why weren’t their voices heard in interviews? Their silence seemed as suspicious as the parents behavior.

The parents behavior in the first 24 hours created a pattern that shocked all observers. Instead of unity and grief, the family demonstrated division, secrecy, and cold calculation. This wasn’t just strange, it looked like an attempt to control the narrative when the truth could prove destructive. What became increasingly clear was that the devastating reality behind their actions would soon make every suspicion seem justified.

Everyone who followed the case from the first day felt the parents were hiding something and this something was connected to Lily and Jack’s fate. The family falls apart in 24 hours. The mother changes her status to single during such a critical time. If you also get chills from these details, hit the like button.

Subscribe so you don’t miss new investigations of such shocking stories. On May 9th, a week after the disappearance, Daniel Martell made a statement that many perceived as a sign of innocence.

I asked to take a lie detector test. I asked for this early on, and since there aren’t many places in Canada where this can be done, they’re flying someone in. You said they’re flying in someone to do a polygraph test. Is that on you? Uh, that’s not just on me, but on everyone. And that’s what I asked for. I asked for that so early on and there’s not many places that do it in Canada.

So, they’re flying somebody in. Why do you think you need to do that? Do you think they don’t believe you? Uh, I think their side of the family doesn’t believe me. And I just want to clear clear it up for everybody. Clear it up for everyone, not just the people online making crazy accusations and everything else. But experienced observers of criminal cases knew.

Often it’s the guilty who demand polygraphs. Knowing the results aren’t admissible in court. Daniel didn’t just agree to a lie detector. He publicly insisted on it, creating pressure on police. I want to clear things up for everyone, not just the people online making crazy accusations. His words revealed the true motivation. He was more concerned with public opinion than finding the children.

An innocent stepfather would focus on the search, not his reputation on social media. Even more suspicious was his demand for an external expert. The RCMP is one of the most equipped law enforcement agencies in the world. They have their own polygraph specialists. Why create delays? In a case where every hour could decide the children’s fate, Daniel was creating unnecessary obstacles.

This looked like an attempt to buy time. time for evidence to disappear or witnesses memories to cloud. On May 7th, Daniel spent 4 hours with the RCMP major crime unit in Stellartan. This wasn’t a friendly conversation. This was an interrogation by murder specialists. The fact that the major crime unit took the case on the third day spoke for itself.

Police suspected criminality from the very beginning. In interviews, Daniel repeatedly emphasized his cooperation. They searched every rock, every route, everything. I gave them every detail from bank statements to Google Maps data. But attentive viewers noticed. He spoke about cooperation as proof of innocence, not as a natural reaction of a desperate stepfather.

A real stepfather would do everything silently without self-praise. It was in the details of his story that disturbing contradictions appeared about Lily’s white backpack with strawberries. He said, “I think now in the forest, it’s probably brown.” This phrase struck everyone who heard it. Why did he speak about the backpack as something that was definitely in the forest and had changed color? A normal parent would hope children took the backpack with food.

Daniel spoke as if he had already seen the backpack in a certain condition. In another interview, he made a statement that made experts shudder. I really hope they find something. Not them, but something. Parents look for children. Investigators look for something. This distinction revealed his subconscious knowledge that living children wouldn’t be found.

I’m absolutely exhausted at this point after going through six six days of virtual hell. It’s absolutely crazy. I’m still holding on hope. I don’t know why they didn’t find anything. Anything from Jack’s pull-up to her to her backpack or any of her belongings at all. They they just haven’t found anything. Daniel’s behavior before cameras reminded many of bad acting.

He demonstrated theatrical emotions, periodically breaking down and starting to cry, but then almost instantly returning to calm speech. Real grief doesn’t turn on and off on command. When he spoke about technical aspects of the search or his cooperation with police, he was absolutely calm and composed. His stories about his own search efforts also didn’t stand up to scrutiny.

I ran through waste deep water, screamed until my throat hurt, outran helicopters and drones. We were searching. We covered every everywhere possible. Even in the first day, we did. Even with me running through the woods, I was ahead of the helicopters and ahead of the drones and stuff like that. Screaming, screaming loud as I can and just until my throat hurt, running through water that was up to my waist.

And as soon as I got back, I wasn’t allowed back in the woods until a man in dressed in military outfit said I could go back into the woods. I hate being wet and cold. So they immediately came right back into the house. The only two prince are right beside the house facing the road and then that’s it.

post any officers they can get at the New Brunswick border and PI PI border and get them at every every airport possible. Anybody who has any information or you think you’ve seen something or hear something or any any messages from friends about hearing something, just contact your local local police services.

Any anything, guys, anything. It sounded heroic, but when he appeared on cameras, he looked clean and rested. No scratches, dirt, or signs of exhaustion from hours of searching in dense forest. His clothes were clean, his hair neat. Daniel’s financial situation raised more and more questions. Working one day a week while supporting five people simply didn’t add up mathematically.

When asked about this, he gave evasive answers about seasonality and work slowdown. But people familiar with the lumber industry knew such schedules don’t exist. Where did the money for living come from? What paid for drugs for parties? On May 12th, an event occurred that definitively changed his status in the investigation.

The RCMP stopped providing him daily search reports. Police usually keep families informed, especially cooperative parents. The decision to cut Daniel off from information indicated he was no longer considered a victim. Police are pursuing all of all investigative avenues and there’s a variety of teams involved who are applying the the tools and the skills and the expertise needed to locate and and bring Lily and Jack home.

When somebody goes missing and we become engaged as any police officer, not just major crime, we will look at all the details and make considerations on the information we have. Right. uh when it comes to a missing person, we have to automatically consider uh uh those uh are there people that are have different charter implications and things like that.

So we will automatically start to consider what evidence is pointing us towards a suspicious in nature. Again, I can’t comment more than that. But every missing person case, we would approach it from the same process, a methodical uh collection and review of information with decisions based on that. On May 15th, it became known that police seized his phone and demanded full access to bank accounts and geoloccation data.

They want to know my every movement for the last month, he complained. Such a level of scrutiny is applied to suspects, not witnesses. Police were clearly looking for evidence of where he might have disposed of bodies. The most disturbing detail remained the complete absence of his family’s support. Daniel’s mother and brother lived on the same property but never appeared beside him during interviews.

Where was their support? What did they know that made them keep their distance? Their silence spoke louder than any words. By miday, it became obvious Daniel’s public campaign for a polygraph was a carefully planned strategy. He understood the psychology of public perception. People think only the innocent ask for lie detectors.

But criminologists know the opposite. Some of the most dangerous criminals masterfully use tools designed to expose them. Daniel tried to control the narrative, presenting himself as a cooperative victim of circumstances. His public statements were rehearsed, emotions fake, and details too precise for someone in shock.

He cared more about his image than the fate of the missing children. And with each day, this became increasingly obvious to everyone who closely observed his behavior. After her single mechanical interview on May 3rd, Male Hia Brooks Murray simply evaporated. When journalists tried to contact her, she claimed the RCMP advised her not to talk to media.

For everyone who understands how such investigations work, this was a huge red flag. Police usually encourage parents to give emotional appeals. This helps find witnesses and maintains public attention. Police advice for a mother to remain silent could only mean one thing. She was being considered as a suspect or witness whose further statements could harm the investigation.

Real parents of missing children literally live in media begging for help, recording video appeals, organizing press conferences. Maleia chose complete isolation behavior more suited to the guilty than the victim. On May 4th, Melheia left Piktu County, taking 16-month-old Meadow and never returned to the property where her children disappeared.

This decision shocked even skeptics. What mother voluntarily leaves the place where she last saw her children? Any real mother would either stay hoping for their return or personally search every bush? Maleia chose flight as if she knew the children no longer needed a home to return to. when her mother Cindy Murray was forced to speak to press instead of her.

This became final proof that Melia was avoiding any attention. “We’re just hoping and praying for the best,” the grandmother said. “But where was the children’s mother? Why did the grandmother become their only voice? Normal mothers fight for their children themselves, not hide behind relatives.” On May 13th, the RCMP revealed the scale of investigation that spoke to the seriousness of suspicions.

Police received more than 180 tips from the public and conducted 35 formal interviews. Such a number of interrogations is characteristic of murder investigations, not searches for lost children. On May 8th through 9th, an underwater team searched water bodies in the area. Another sign they were looking for bodies, not living children.

The most devastating blow to the official version came from search dog results. Dogs lost the children’s trail at the end of the driveway where it met the road. This could only mean two options. Children were picked up by a passing car or their bodies were transported by vehicle. Given the area’s isolation and absence of witnesses to random pickup, the second option seemed much more likely.

Go ahead. Families uh brought us to a location there uh not far away that uh there’s a part piece of of a blanket which the mother says she believes it belongs to her daughter. It’s just off the road here. And if you look DPU status, you’ll see where Bravo 3 and Bravo 8 are. Yeah, it’ll be just off the Landown Road off of 289.

Did we say we found an article? Possibly. There’s a couple other pieces of old clothing here. Pieces just torn like pieces of rag. But there is a a I’m guessing that’s one you’re referring to. Yeah, I can. I’m on it now. So, yeah, this is perfect. 355. I’m going to request the field communications unit to be sent out here.

this four comms if uh if this gets extended for a long period of time. Members here on Glock Road, we just had a 911 call. Can I go ahead with the details? Yeah, go ahead. We got a call via 911 from a Karen Ponaco about 5 minutes. She reporting just driving past a black Honda CRV Nova Scotia marker golf mic fox 320 that left the outdoor recreational park close to the residence. It is permanently closed.

Is unsure if related but it felt a bit strange to her. Driver with a white male around 50 years old bald with a mustache and it left 1480 Parallock Road. I can send that around here MWS if it’s easier. Got a copy of Bravo 3. Deactivate and reactivate me to this one. 10 just came as an update there. Do you want me to send it to your MWS? I think you probably sent it to all of us there.

Uh looks like the address is 1480 Glock Road. Yeah, Dan. Uh I um I’m not sure. you know, there’s certainly a possibility this one will uh roll into tomorrow and I think uh Josh Reese is, you know, on call. So, uh you know, I wouldn’t necessarily cancel any uh big plans that you have.

So, optimistic maybe both the files we have right now get wrapped up. Copy that. Yeah, I’m just trying to uh figure out if I should cancel my plans or not, but yeah, just keep me posted and keep it in mind. We’ll do uh negative at the moment here. We’re just uh overhead the park and uh just still on the the search uh pattern here.

But we were just curious to know if if you wanted us to kind of get eyes on that uh that vehicle right away. Well, quickly there just give her a call see if um I can get a direction of travel from her and that way if we do need to we’ll know which way they went. Okay. Yeah. Thanks. Looks like it’s gated um from our vantage point.

Uh stand by one 355 KOA. Uh follow checkers. 345. Do you want to send that name and number from that for that vehicle down the corporate wall short? We’ll look after that here. Thank you. Short. I emailed that there to you. and 53 alpha 3 35. Yeah, turn around. Come the other way. I’m up here up this road here. Right here. Sorry. Clear.

So, should be contacted. A PSS truck is requested for comm issues will be sent to the staging area. Delta 3, did you copy that? Go ahead. We talked to Shi there. The PSSV truck is going to be sent to the staging area for the comm’s issue. And all stations just ordering a black SUV just north of the residence and on the left side of the road.

Um does not appear to be a CRV, but it is a black SUV. if uh anybody wants to come up and have a look at that. Just another under the helicopter. You guys have visual. Uh Bravo 3 drove by that on my way in. That’s a Kia Sportage. Um Delta Papa uniform 468. I didn’t run it, but there was nobody in it. I’m right here. I’ll check.

Yeah, we copy that. There are two uh looks like two individuals walking down towards the lake um ahead of the vehicle and there’s a there’s a cabin at the end of the lake. That vehicle comes back to a Gregory Gifin from 805. Go ahead. Yeah. Are we okay to uh cross the highway here and uh work the wooded area uh behind the residents? 10 actually coming down for battery swap right now.

Okay. Uh just let us know when uh you want to come back here. Just advising everyone on the talk group. Public safety field communications are on route to that uh search you have there. And uh our ETA is about 1 105 p.m. 135. Garlock road. if you uh can copy this there. Corporal Short contacted that complaintant from that suspicious vehicle call and uh everything was done for nothing suspicious about it.

Just make sure mom stays close to house there in case they happen to sneak out and get back into the house. Search with the road of our building here. We’ve got all of our equipment on the go and 22 members should land on site about 1:30, a little before hopefully. Well, that’s great. Thank you. There is a field kind of an open area behind the the residence there.

I’ll I’ll just stay west of that. So, I won’t come any closer to the backyard for that. Just let me know if you need to move in closer. I’ll get out of the way. Yeah. No, you guys do your thing. And we’re just going to work all these uh heavily wooded areas out here where you uh where you guys can’t reach. [Music] Large 360 hair now onion bag.

That’s not nothing to play with or anything, is it? Uh, it’s packing truck giving the dog a break. Uh, we’re going to do the residence and property over again while we wait. I just want to let you know from last night’s search we having problems with our TMR communications through our command trailer. I think we’ve got a connector or wire with a problem.

Something you might want to consider activating public fields to come aid us in communications if that’s going to be a need. All right, D. They’re on route. Excellent. Appreciate it. Thank you. Yeah. Kilo 6 here. Two missing children. Uh one wearing pink. Uh not sure what the other one was wearing. Uh possibly a backpack with them.

Four years old and 8 years old. Global news here. Looking to speak to somebody in their bedroom this morning. They haven’t been seen since then. I need to uh get a good statement and figure stuff out. Can you copy there? I think your portable uh spotting. Was that you I heard on here that was going to do a search of the residence again? Yeah, that’s what he was saying.

Uh they were going to do the property and the residence again. Copy that. meters northeast of the house about the way I came in. Paul from McInness, uh, when you started your search from your vehicle, did you go past the residence? Uh, yeah. Did you go down to the bottom of that long walkway with the marked signage on it? the the reflection poles.

Did you go down that long driveway that’s gated off and has all the reflective post signs marked on the trees going now? Broke down on the other side down to the Florida campground. You can come up through the other side if you need it. Hey, copy that, Joe. I’m going down there from the uh gated off side. Hey Joe, can you swing back to the house? Should I drop off hot first or you got something? Yeah, I drop off first. Let’s come back.

Yeah, I just want to chat with you. We just got a call from a Justin Smith who lives close by to where you guys are now. He has said he can talk to members about any vehicles that passed on Highway 289. If you guys need to get a hold of him, I can always send this number down to you guys if needed. Yeah, Kilo 6 here. Two missing children.

Uh, one wearing pink. Uh, not sure what the other one was wearing. Uh, possibly a backpack with them. Four years old and 8 years old. Global news here. Looking to speak to somebody. Can I get an idea of what we’re looking at, where we’re looking? So, the family is convinced that these children didn’t cross the road uh from their residence.

Uh, of course, we’re skeptical that the we know where these roots would go. Uh, but it’s been a substantial amount of time. So, we’re looking at uh recently it’s a 6 km, but now we’re looking further out. Uh, anyway, that’s that’s what we’ve got now. So 6 out. I see that you have two locations here.

Which location are we talking about? Starting point at 73. So uh I see two two locations where there’s a lot of cars. Which of the two locations is the starting point for the missing? 1407 Grove is the last point known as residence. Uh so we’ve been concentrating on the area behind the residence. So I see two locations in north and itself.

Uh which one would it be? Uh station 83 and control 4. Uh I’m just facing the uh the residence here now. So between uh just off my nose, you can see uh the fire vehicle there with the uh lights on. That’s the residence. Okay, 104. Yeah, big red truck. We got it. And from there, they’re looking out uh I guess they they would depart from there.

Yeah, that’s affirmative. So, I’m essentially uh in the backyard here now and uh sounds like they did not cross the road, but that’s yet to be determined. And uh so, yeah, we’ve been just pounding these hills back here. Okay, T. Thanks for the heads up. And uh do we know if there’s a drone up in the air at all or not? Negative on the drones.

Uh it sounds like there’s four drones on the ground. Um but uh none of the drones are in the air at the moment and they’re all uh monitoring neutral six as well and broadcasting their attentions when they’re ready. Okay. Yeah. Right on. And yeah, I’m just going to work this area for the next little bit.

just uh let me know if you guys want me out of your way. And uh we’re just going to be landing uh once we do. There’s a looks like an old park there uh kind of to the the south kind of southeast there on the other side of the road. That’s where I’m in the stage of and then there’s also a field. You’ll see the comm’s truck up by the train tracks with this red and white strobe on in the boom.

I would land in that field as well in the back room. Okay. Go for it. Thanks for the approach. What are the details? Have they been gone a long time? Uh 0800 gear lock road and landown. Copy that. Okay. their own vehicle. Community hall, anything near the area that uh some trucks can park at and work their way out. Sorry. Um it’s it’s very rural.

I don’t think there’s any community nearby. Um we’re not super familiar with the area. We don’t come out here a whole lot. Um, but we’ll have a look. Go ahead. [Applause] Just wondering where they’re set up with the uh search command today. Is that the scene on McLaren Road? Center is Eden Church Loop. Yeah, see that’s where ours is.

I’m just wondering where the ground search one is. over there for the uh children. 6012. [Music] [Applause] It would be Garden of Eden Church Loop is where the command center is. Yeah, it’s just there. There’s no one there. All right. McLaren Road. Bravo 3. Go ahead. All right. So, there is no portable reception down here.

Uh, however, the cars do work. So, uh, Constable Mason’s vehicle now, she’s got a radio on the loud hand, so she’ll be able to hear us. She has no phone recession, but she does have photo of the two kids. Um, the six-year-old is the girl, I believe, and she’s wearing pink. The four-year-old is wearing some blue dinosaur boots.

Um, so yeah, I think that’s all we kind of have right now. 10 more since radio service is not bad. Do you guys want an extended timer there? A 106 timer and I can give you a monitor. Yeah, definitely. Give us two hours and then ask the risk manager if you want console Mason to depart there to go get some phone service to send those images or not.

Um, the drone operator is still on scene with the mom. So 10 service and get those photos to them. Sir, you want her to go get service to send the photos? Yeah, go somewhere and get service and get those photos sent off. Amazing copies. Both kilo dogs on scene there. Y’all can hear me there. You guys on scene? Kilo 6 is on scene.

Kilo 9 till 17. Thank you. Okay. Uh, are we okay to drop down on the looks like the east side of the road there? There’s a gully system there. Um, we just want to get down out of uh do some low passes there. Or are you uh doing orbits and crossing the road as well? Um, yeah, I can stay to the uh I can stay out of your area there. I’m at uh 270.

How how low you looking to go? I can take it down too if you need. So, just for deconliction, I I’ll just stay on uh the east side of the road. If you’re going to stay on the west side of the road and work the backyards and over top of the residence, if you’re not going to cross the road, we’ll just drop down. There’s a gully on the east side.

We want to just kind of cruise the forest there. Yeah, we can do that. Okay, we’ll uh stay on the east side for now and we’ll keep you advised when we uh switch back over. Or you want me to check the other issue on mutual aid six? Just leaving the rest matcher. Um just confirming if you need the drone that we just freed up here in Colchester.

Um we can send it to your way your way if you wish. This thermal. Yeah, that’d be great. Uh a lot of area covers here. You’re very familiar. The risk manager, you still monitoring that? Yeah, there’s a dirt road just past uh the address the uh the last point known. We can put vehicles on this dirt road.

There’s lots of big driveways and stuff. Uh they’re fine. If there’s any other calls for you for updates, that’ll be our station area. Whatever road this is. Okay, looks like the map is in West Road. I’m guessing that’s one you’re referring to. Yeah, four. I’m on it now. So, yeah, this is perfect. 355. I’m going to request the SEO communications unit to be sent out here.

There’s four comms if uh if this gets extended for a long period of time. Members here on Glock Road, we just had a 911 call. Can I go ahead with the details? So we got a call via 911 from a Karen Ponaco. Uh time about 5 minutes. She reporting just driving past the black Honda CRV Nova Scotia Marker Golf Mike Fox 320 that left the outdoor recreational park close to the residence. It is permanently closed.

Is unsure it’s related, but it felt a bit strange to her. Driver with a white male around 50 years old bald with a mustache and it left 1480 Parallock Road. I can send that around to your MWS if it’s easier. Got a copy of Bravo 3. Deactivate and reactivate me to this one. Just see an update there.

Do you want me to send JMWs? I think you probably sent it to all of us, sir. On May 7th, after just 5 days of searching, police made a statement that essentially moved the case into murder investigation category. Sergeant Robert McCammon spoke words that froze blood in veins. The likelihood they’re alive right now is very low.

Such statements aren’t made lightly. Police knew what they weren’t saying publicly. Good afternoon. I am Corporal Carly McCann, provincial public information officer for the Nova Scotia RCMP. Thank you all for being here today. First, I acknowledge that we are in Migmagi, the traditional and unseated ancestral territory of the Migma people.

I also recognize that African Nova Scotians are a distinct people whose histories, legacies, and contributions have enriched that part of MCMagi, known as Nova Scotia, for over 400 years. At this time, I invite the following officers uh to the podium with me. Inspector Mike Engles, District Policing Officer for Northeast Nova District RCMP.

Staff Sergeant Curtis McKinnon, Picto County District Commander. Staff Sergeant Rob McCammon, acting officer in charge of Major Crimes and Behavioral Sciences Group, and Amy Hansen, search manager with Colchester Ground Search and Rescue. Uh, Staff Sergeant, uh, Curtis McKinnon will provide you with an overview of the efforts to find Lily and Jack.

He will review the search and investigation that began on Friday morning and provide the current status and next steps. We will take uh questions from media present. Following that, I invite Staff Sergeant McKinnon to the podium. Jane Vetina Mckinn Merci. Thank you all for being here today. First of all, our thoughts go out to the family and loved ones of Lily and Jack Sullivan, to their communities, and to everyone who’s worked day and night in effort to find the children and bring them home. Since the first 911 call was

received by the RCMP, reporting that 6-year-old Lily and four-year-old Jack had wandered away from their home on Garlic Road in Landdale Station, a multi- agency search has been underway. Teams have been working around the clock. This search has included many agencies including volunteer ground search and rescue teams from across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

The Civil Air Search and Rescue Association known as CASera, Department of Natural Resources Air Services, Nova Scotia Public Safety and Few Field Communications, Nova Scotia Guard, Joint Rescue Coordination Center, Salvation Army, the the Canada Heavy Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 5, and several RCP units including police, dog services, and drone operators.

Since Saturday, because we treat all missing person files as suspicious until our investigation leads us to determine otherwise, our major’s crimes unit has been engaged. It’s been an an all hands-on deck effort using every available resource and tool since the search began on May 2nd. It has been concentrated in the Garlic Road area and has covered four square kilometers of heavy wooded rural terrain.

Up to 160 trained volunteer searchers along with many others have been involved in the search each day. Tens of thousands of search hours have been dedicated to scouring the area and GSAR has confirmed that over 100 tracks has been laid using GPS and grid searches. Efforts to locate Lily and Jack have also included two vulnerable missing person alerts, posting their children’s photos and information on Nova Scotia RCMP website and social media accounts.

Our social accounts have more than 300,000 followers and releasing information to local media as well as reporters across the country. Lily and Jack have made headlines from coast to coast. While the search has been ongoing, RCMP officers continued with the missing person investigation, speaking with family and community members to gather tips and other information that could help locate the children.

We have not received any confirmed reports of sightings. Lily and Jack’s family has been provided with regular updates on the search and on the missing person investigation. They’ve also been afforded supports. As of today, May 7th, the active search efforts to locate Lily and Jack will be scaled back.

We’re transitioning from a full-scale search to searches and more specific spaces. Spaces have already been searched by our teams. We want to circle back to increase the probability that all clues have been found. And when transitioning from an active search to a scaleback search, the probability of survival is taken into consideration.

I want to assure you that our missing person’s investigation continues. We’re not packing up and we’re not giving up. Our investigation is broad and it won’t end till we know where Lily and Jack are and can bring them home. We’ll continue to investigate and chase leads for as long as and as hard as we have to.

We have the best investigators working every aspect of the file. We continue to appeal to anyone who have information related to our investigation and who has not yet spoken to us to contact the Picto County District RCMP at 9024854333 or Crimestoppers. Before I close, I want to reiterate that our hearts go out to Lily and Jack’s family.

to the community and the people who’ve worked so incredibly hard to date. Many of us have children of our own and have want nothing more than to reunite Lily and Jack with their loved ones. Thank you. Thank you, Staff Sergeant McKinnon. I’ll now provide his remarks in French. Jack Landown station. Fore Salvation Army.

Come suspect garlic. They designed GPS. Yes. Lil Jacket.

aspect. A district compe. depict a conquote liku. We will now proceed with the question and answer period. For the benefit of all participants, please provide your name, the outlet you represent, and to whom your question is directed. We will be limiting the question and answer period to one question and one followup.

participant. So, we’ll start on my left over here if someone has question on this side. Yeah. You said you’re going over areas that you’ve already seen. What’s the purpose of that? When before that you were telling us you were extending the search and if you could say it in French and English.

If you’d like to start in English, I’ll sure in French. What we’ll be doing is we’ll be continue on just because today the scale the search is being scaled back. We still will continue on and we will go back to areas that we feel that we may need to re relook at um and we may expand out if if there’s any type of information that leads us to believe that we need to do that.

So, if you’d like to follow up. Oh, sorry. I’ll like why like how would that help you to specifically go to places that have been searched by hundreds of people like you’re saying like how could that help you find? Yeah, there because of the the terrain there could be um different types of things that we may want to try and get back in if if if we are able to locate anything um that may come up that we that the searchers uh didn’t go uh catch the first time.

But um we will do everything we can to try and find Jack and Lily. Yeah. And uh based on the weather, the season changes, we we’ll we will we don’t want to leave and we won’t we’re not leaving. Um just that this part of this this search is being scaled back. So um for shows label. Yes.

I guess you know you’ve done an incredibly exhaustive search in the area and major crime is also here and having not found these children having done an you know very thorough search. Uh can you tell us like the role of major crime in this and what you can tell us about that investigation? Uh Rob McCammon, Robert. And uh MCCA M is the last name.

Um so Major Crime became involved very early in the investigation. Uh we’re able to bring in some specialized knowledge and skill sets and we help with the information management and uh decision- making. Um, as we scale back, as we’ve identified, there are certain areas that uh are going to be relooked at uh that could contain a confined area perhaps and maybe need some more specialized search areas.

But I’ll leave that to the search crews to uh to expand on. And we’re going to continue um uh pursuing any leads or information that comes in and the stuff that we do have. Uh we have uh engaged all areas of the RCMP. all tools that are available to us are being considered and uh engaged when appropriate.

Do you have a follow-up? Yeah, as a followup that I guess the general population looks you know looks at and says you’ve searched very thoroughly this area. You would have found them if they were there which then makes people you know certainly on social media people are assuming uh rightly or wrongly that there’s a criminal element to this. Sure.

And can you I I mean I know what what can you tell me about that your work on that potentially? Well, I I can’t really speculate on the investigation. Obviously, that wouldn’t be fair to the process, but um we are constantly reviewing everything that’s been done, looking at all different facets of available information, and we’ll make decisions on that.

I can’t really comment on the details of that, but we will pursue every lead that becomes available and uh take it to where it needs to go. Thank you. So, is there a question? Yeah. Uh, sorry. Go ahead. Okay. Nicholas with CBC National News. Um, you you’ve first said it wasn’t suspicious. You think the kids just wandered off.

Now you’re saying every missing person’s uh investigation is considered suspicious. Is it still suspicious? Are there any suspects here? Uh again I’m not going to comment on the details of the investigation but I will comment when somebody goes missing and we become engaged as any police officer not just major crime we will look at all the details and make considerations on the information we have right uh when it comes to a missing person we have to automatically consider uh uh those uh are there people that are have different charter implications and things like

that so we will automatically start to consider what evidence is pointing us towards a suspicious in nature again I can’t comment more than that. But every missing person case, we would approach it from the same process, a methodical uh collection and review of information with decisions based on that.

And the family has said they believe it’s an abduction or they suspect it’s an abduction. Are there now any clues or anything leading you to think that that might be possible? Uh if we had any information that led that way and we felt that we could provide anything with the public, we would have done that. Uh we would have got that information out.

We’re working very closely with the family and we will pursue every avenue but again I I’m not going to make any specific comments but anything that would point towards that we would immediately take steps to to address uh things that need to be addressed. Uh my road CC uh I think this question is most appropriate to staff sergeant.

You talked about survivability. I was wondering if you could address that specifically given the ages of the two missing children and the weather conditions we’ve experienced this week. Yeah. So uh the incident command um person that with the RCP along with the search manager at some point have to make decision how when would they scale back this search and a number of factors would have to take consideration and they would uh based upon uh scientific information that they have to deem uh when is that time is has to come and

that is now and those a lot of those factors uh come into play would be the age of the mer miss missing persons uh the weather, how long it’s been, what area it’s been covered. So, uh at that point, they have to make a decision on that. I hate to ask this, but given their age and the conditions, if they were still in the woods, do you think they would still be alive? I guess it goes back to all those factors have to come into play, right? So, um we are scaling back because, um it’s time to move to a different part of

the search. Staff Paul Hings for CCTV. Scaled back versus active search. I know yesterday there’s a number at or around 140 searchers on the ground in four square. You said can you quantify what scaled back is like fewer searchers, smaller area, larger area. How does that look going forward? Yeah.

So, um just to go to the first point, there’s a lot been a lot of searchers here and uh we can’t thank them enough for being here. uh they’ve given up mo a lot of them have been here since day one and they have given up some have uh taken time off work some have left their families behind and we are very grateful for that saying that we will look in on them and their senior managers to give us some recommendations of what else we can do but we will take that and we will explore whatever we have and whatever we can do to check in spots that uh need to

be checked or whatever. But at this point in time, um after today, we just won’t see uh all these searches here. Sure. Amy, if you’re comfortable with that. Thank you. I saw a person yesterday who was dressed like you Olympic being carried out. People were hot and sweaty to the South Point. A lot of hard work.

Can you talk about how rocket was in the woods? Like it looks almost impossible. What did you see? What did your people and your team see and went into those? Well, in these woods that they are very thick. There’s a lot of the hurricane damage from Fiona a couple years ago and we’ve had teams struggling to get through areas and I can’t say anything more about the searchers.

They’re pushing through all of these areas, going through all of these dead falls, going through waterways and anything possible just to cover their search areas. though we know that everything has been so thoroughly searched that there’s it’s time to as they say scale back and we are exhausting people. We’re starting to see more injuries coming back the last couple of days and uh it’s just it’s hard terrain.

Amy Hansen and and he and uh I will note as well having had the opportunity to uh participate yesterday in a a helicopter search as well. It is immensely clear uh looking from above uh based on the the orange tags on the trees how thoroughly uh and meticulously the area has been searched based on uh the indications you can see even from up in the air of how thorough the searches are.

So I I also um give a hats off to the the many many searchers who have have participated here um in support of finding Lily and Jack. Uh yeah, if you like to go ahead Um just with the search still continuing in the forest, is there evidence that uh the children are in the forest? Yeah, train. Very slowly. Good. Are our radios able to pick up uh stats here with this train? That’s it.

Okay, we’ll wait. We’ll wait for the side effect. We had to slow it down. [Music] [Music] Is that any Is that any better at this point with the bell passed? I’ll um longer. I’ll I’ll note as well the the reason that the train is passing by slowly uh is out of respect for the fact that Lily and Jack are are missing here.

So, it’s it’s passing slow in order to have their staff be aware um and and note the the missing the ongoing missing person investigation happening in the area here. Uh so that just does again speak to the number of people involved and aware of this search and everything that’s that’s happening in this area and the awareness uh uh and the way that the information has spread so widely uh through Nova Scotia and Canada.

So uh I think we were with your your question. Yeah. So it was just about you guys still investigate children forest. Have you found any evidence that they are in the forest? Okay. Have we found any evidence that they are? Yeah. So, at one point there was a possible boot uh impression found and I can tell you that they uh search and rescues then performed grid searches of that area and expanded out from that area in a meticulous fashion.

They’re focused and tight searches and nothing else was found. And you believe that the evidence was it appeared it was a possible bootprint of a a smaller bootprint. So when we have a possibility like that, that’s when we exhausted that area as well to make make sure that that wasn’t a clue that we were missing. Lindsay Armstrong with I’m wondering I understand have been involved.

Have cadaavver dogs been involved at this point? I don’t believe cadaavver drives have been involved at this point yet. Will they become involved? And I’d also like to circle back to Blair’s question on survivability. If you could give a little bit more detail there about how you’re making the equation bringing in and assessing survivability.

So, uh, cadaavver golf could be the next step in terms of part when we talked about scaling back that could be another option that we now look at using. And getting back to that point, I mean that decision was made based on a lot of factors and if we thought they were alive right now, we’d still be out there. Could be does that mean that no plans yet? Um, not that I’m worried I speak to of cadaavver dogs are coming or not? I can’t speak to it.

Is there a question here? So, do you have do you two have something global? Okay. I do. Hi, I’m Lindsay Jones with the Globe and Mail. Wondering if you can clarify. We heard major crime has been involved since Sunday. Is that correct? Saturday morning. Since Saturday. Okay. So, is do you believe the children have met foul play? Do you want to talk? Again, I’m not going to comment on specifics of the investigation.

We’re going to continue on and when we get to a point that we’ve got information that we’re able to make any decisions that are able to be public, we’ll we’ll let you know at that time. right now. Uh I’m not going to comment on specifics. So Okay. So, but you don’t believe the children are alive any anymore? No.

That based on the experts and the review of the facts, the inclement weather, the time frames, and their age, the the likelihood that they’re alive right now is very low. Okay. And can I just ask one more question about this the scaling back of the search? Are you reducing the number of searchers out there or is it being concentrated just with RCP now or what what’s how how is that looking differently on the ground? Yeah, absolutely.

So the searchers will be finishing at the end of the operational period today and now it’ll come back to the Picto district RCMP and we’ll make decisions and uh put in plans of how we move forward. So, so rather than having the large uh presence here, the the the massive number of searchers on scene every day, um searches will be based on information that comes in and and specifics uh in order to make things uh pointed and specific to areas that uh that that are pinpointed or or specific to a a a search need.

So, um I believe we’ve gone through the the the group for for questions at this point. So, out of respect for uh the police officers here and the the many searchers who are still there, uh I’d like to conclude our media availability today. Oh, sorry. Is there one person with Sorry, my apologies. Sorry. Alex Dero, Stingray Radio.

Um you mentioned you’re circling back to find clues. You talked about the blueprints. Are there anything you’re looking to find, expecting to find, or usually find in these situations? We’re looking for any type of clue, any information to help us out and then we’ll take that information and u work forward from that. Second followup.

Is the blueprint still involved in the search process or was that deemed to me not relevant? I can’t say they’re not relevant, but it was exa the search was exhausted in that area and we were not able to um find any more clues or evidence of that that area. So, thank you very much. Sorry, can you just uh you just said to the previous question that the ground search and rescue is being called like the volunteers are being called off after today? Yes, at the end of the operational period today they will be done. Can you see that in

French? So again, out of respect for the search and rescue teams that continue to be on scene here and uh the the police uh as well, uh we conclude this media availability uh today u and our thoughts do remain with Lily and Jack loves Lily and Jack’s loved ones at this difficult time. Physical search conditions completely refuted the theory of children’s independent departure.

Professional searchers struggled to move through forest felled by Hurricane Fiona. Fallen trees, dense thicket, swampy soil. If adults with equipment barely managed, how could four and sixyear-old children pass this way? The version that toddlers simply got lost became increasingly absurd. On May 17th through 18th, searches resumed with 115 volunteers participating, but were finally terminated on May 19th without results.

Amy Hansen, one of the search managers, admitted, “We’re not expecting to continue tomorrow. These woods that they are very thick. There’s a lot of the hurricane damage from Fiona a couple years ago and we’ve had teams struggling to get through areas and I can’t say anything more about the searchers. They’re pushing through all of these areas, going through all of these dead falls, going through waterways and anything possible just to cover their search areas.

So, we know that everything has been so thoroughly searched that there’s it’s time to, as they say, scale back and we are exhausting people. We’re starting to see more injuries coming back the last couple of days and uh it’s just it’s hard terrain and uh I will note as well having had the opportunity to uh participate yesterday in a a helicopter search as well, it is immensely clear uh looking from above uh based on the the orange tags on the trees how thoroughly uh and meticulously the area has been searched based on uh the indications you

can see even from up in the air of how thorough the searches are. So, I I also um give a hats off to the the many many searchers who have have participated here um in support of finding Lily and Jack. Even experienced rescuers understood there was nothing more to search for. By May 20th, the case’s mysterious circumstances attracted attention from leading missing children experts.

Michael Arnfield, a criminologist from Western University, gave an assessment that sounded like a verdict. It just it doesn’t add up at many levels based on appearances. Um, this went in the wrong direction early on and key momentum and leads were lost when they were out in the fields looking for kids that uh maybe were never there.

Former homicide investigator Steve Ryan pointed to the main problem. The parents story leaves a very large hole in the investigation. So given that there is no u witnesses to what had happened that leaves a very very big gaping hole in this investigation. Parallels with other high-profile cases became increasingly obvious.

Many viewers compared the situation to the Summer Wells case. The same isolated location, the same suspicious parents, the same sudden disappearance without trace. Like with summer, children disappeared from a home where drugs were used, where chaos reigned, where parents cared more about themselves than children’s safety. Viewers were particularly troubled by details about the party before the disappearance.

Who were these people coming to the house in the middle of the night? What did they see? Why wasn’t any party participant publicly questioned? Silence about these people suggested parents were hiding not only circumstances of the children’s disappearance but also their involvement in drug dealing. Extended family behavior also spoke volumes.

Melia’s family immediately suspected Daniel. People who knew the children their entire lives immediately understood something was wrong with him. Their immediate hostility didn’t arise from nothing. They saw something in his behavior that made them believe in his guilt even before the investigation began.

Public opinion has formed definitively about this case. Parents behavior from the first minute indicated their involvement in the tragedy. Daniel’s contradictory testimony, his theatrical emotions, strange comments about the backpack already brown from dirt. All this created a portrait of someone who knew more than he was saying.

Malia’s silence and flight looked not like grief, but like an attempt to avoid further questions. Her decision to change her relationship status on Facebook during the search shocked everyone with its heartlessness. This was behavior of someone who already knew the family no longer existed. The most tragic thing in this story was that Lily and Jack trusted adults who should have protected them.

Instead, they became victims of people for whom personal welfare proved more important than children’s lives. Their drawings still hung on kitchen walls. Their seats on the school bus remained empty. But the children themselves would never return to the house that should have been their refuge. The story of Lily and Jack Sullivan became another dark reminder that the greatest danger to children often comes not from strangers, but from those who swore to love and protect them.

While we analyze the overwhelming evidence of parental involvement, the tragic reality of what happened to these innocent children becomes increasingly undeniable, forever changing this case from a missing person’s investigation to something far more sinister. The story of Lily and Jack shows how crucial it is to trust your instincts when something feels wrong.
