when John Allen Rubio and Angela Camacho of Brownsville Texas met in 2001 it began a chain of events that ended with an event that would rock not only the city of Brownsville but the entire state of Texas this is the most sickening story I have ever told you trust me Angela Camacho was born in Mexico and illegally immigrated to the United States she settled in Brownsville and had a child with one man and then became pregnant again by another when she was about one month along in her second pregnancy she met John Allen
Rubio according to Rubio’s confession he did not care that she had children with different men he accepted them as his own referring to Julissa Angela quesada as his daughter and when Angela Camacho gave birth to her son he named the boy after himself less than a year later Angela Camacho became pregnant again and gave birth to daughter Mary Jane the blended family moved into a ramshackle apartment which had once been a cement block grocery store in Brownsville John Allen Rubio grew up in Brownsville surrounded by Superstition dysfunction
drug abuse and alcoholism according to Rubio both his mother and grandmother were practitioners of Witchcraft as well as a long-term drug users alcoholics and prostitutes he told investigators that his mother began pimping him out at a young age so he followed in the family tradition of being a prostitute as his mother suggested to him a beat flipping burgers at McDonald’s John Rubio had a few run-ins with the law of a minor drug charges and was diagnosed with some emotional problems but according to friends and Associates John had a nasty
habit he would inhale the fumes from spray paint solvents or other common household chemicals in order to get a quick but often lethal High long-term uses of inhalants often suffer from severe depression mood changes weight loss lack of coordination irritability and in some case permanent brain damage and death Angela Camacho was not known to use drugs or inhalants but she was also not considered to be the sharpest knife in the drawer she was a follower who usually went along with whatever someone told her to
do the one thing they both shared was being born into and raised in abject poverty now I’m gonna get to what actually happened a prostitute by the name of Jose Hernandez testified that on the morning of March the 11th 2003 he stopped by the apartment that he shared with Rubio and Angela Camacho when Rubio opened the door he became concerned because it was obvious to him that Rubio had been hitting the spray paint hard and heavy when he tried to enter the apartment John stopped him and he said right now we are going to kill everyone he told
the corps that he became concerned and he scolded Rubio telling him that he shouldn’t talk like that around the kids Rubio pushed him out of the door and slammed the door Hernandez pounded on the door and demanded to be let in but Rubio refused he recalled that he was frightened of Jon because he was under the influence and he was often volatile Hernandez left the apartment fearing that rubia might attack him then around 7 PM that night officer Efrain Cervantes was responding to a domestic disturbance call at another address when a terrified
young man and woman flagged his Patrol down the couple Marie Elena Alvarez and Jose Luis Rubio were hysterical officer Cervantes stated that Maria started screaming the babies are dead they have no heads no heads what the is going on officer Cervantes asked the young couple to get into his patrol car and take him to the scene so he could try and figure out what the hell was going on the couple directed officer Cervantes to a rundown apartment building where the young man took the officer to the door of the Rubio
apartment when Rubio answered the door the officer asked him what’s going on Rubio invited him into the apartment and just kept muttering the kids the kids the kids Cervantes observed that the apartment was filthy with dirty clothes and garbage strewn throughout the front room he saw Angela Camacho sitting on what appeared to be a futon and staring at the floor Rubio went to the futon and sat next to Angela when Rubio’s brother yelled at him tell him tell the officer tell him Rubio looked at the officer and
said the kids are in the back room Savannah has made his way through the garbage and to the back room he said that the hallway had a very strong odor of bleach when he looked into the bedroom at first he thought that a doll had been thrown on the bed until he realized that it was the nude body of a small child and indeed this child he said I just saw the jagged marks around the neck and then I realized that this couldn’t be a doll or anything Savant has reported the murder and requested immediate assistance Cervantes stormed back into the front
room of the apartment and yelled at Rubio what happened Rubio just sighed deeply stood up put his hands together and said arrest me what investigators found inside the Rubio apartment defied even the most horror slasher film Hollywood has ever produced they lived in very poor conditions there was clothes trash all sorts of things thrown all over garbage littered the apartment bags stories shopping carts empty water bottles and clothes were piled into every nook and cranny leaving little room for police to navigate the crime
scene baby John’s body was lying at the foot of the bed devoid of blood Cervantes said we go back to where the baby boy was found and at that point the house was in disarray it was was dirty everything was dirty and dingy but there was a plastic bag that I had not seen the first time I walked in it was at the entry of the doorway towards the foot of the bed and the bag was like a shiny black trash bag it looked like a Brand New Bag like he had been placed there it felt round this has got to be the baby’s head and I kind
of reached over there and I was able to get to the bag and it opened I mean I opened the bag and I could see that there were two other bodies in there as well the bodies of three-year-old Julissa and two-month-old Mary Jane were found stuffed inside a garbage bag hidden behind the crib the children’s heads were found inside of a separate garbage bag investigators described the bloody scene as horrific there were numerous blood pools and stains in the kitchen and on the floors a bucket full of bloody water bloody knives in the
kitchen and bedroom other detectors found the bloody clothing that both Rubio and Angela were wearing at the time of the murders soaking in the bathroom now before I continue I have a question for you why do you think they did it evolving True Crime before but decapitation is very specific why decapitation of all methods when Rubio was interviewed by police he calmly and coherently explained the events that transpired that evening he said it began with the children’s hamsters he became convinced that the hamsters were
possessed by demons he went to the cage where they kept and he said that they were growling because evil spirits had entered them so he smashed their heads with the hammer while John Rubio was pouring bleach on the bodies three-year-old Julissa saw what he was doing and began screaming Rubio said as she started talking in like demon eyes like he was looking at me like weird he claimed that Julissa was possessed by the spirit of his grandmother Julissa began growling and screaming at him claiming that she was Grandma would come
back from limbo and stolen julius’s Soul he believed that all of the children were possessed by demons can you now say the method that they used all the drugs they’ve been taking and what they did to their heads let’s keep going John Rubio and Angela Camacho became terrified of their children and Angela began screaming for him to kill them Rubio said that he began choking Julissa but she wouldn’t die so Angela ran into the kitchen and retrieved some knives he said that Julissa was shaking and yelling at him you are killing me she
told her father Julissa kept trying to manipulate his mind with bad magic that was when he threw her on the floor and began abusing her but she kept trying to get away from him because her magic was too strong Julissa looked at Angela Camacho and said mom please make that stop Angela then held the child down with the Rubio grabbing a machete and cutting off the Lesser bled all over the place with blood gushing out of her Camacho then picked julissa’s body up and took it into the kitchen where she washed all of
the blood off she filled a bucket with cold water and placed the severed head into the bucket have you ever heard anything so profound have you ever heard a crime story as crazy as insane I can’t even find the right words who on Earth were these people julissa’s autopsy showed that she had 12 wounds on her face and neck with an additional 21 wounds across her chest Rubio then nailed the back door shut to prevent any evil spirits from coming in or leaving Rubio then turned his sights on two-month-old Mary Jane according to
Rubio she was practically foaming at the mouth growling and spitting at him Rubio said that he thought that he had murdered her in the head but he wasn’t sure she was so strong and powerful that he had no choice but to cut off he tried the first time but the knife wasn’t sharp enough he couldn’t find the machete because he believed the witches had made it disappear no you that’s all the spray paint messing with your head John Rubio grabbed her head and with his hands detached off from her body Rubio said that when he
confronted one-year-old Johnny he could just feel the evil oozing out of the child Rubio said that Johnny was the strongest of the three children and possessed the strength of Satan himself he explained that Johnny was trying to cast spells and Spoon incantations at him and Angela he said that I took him and Angela both to hold the child down Rubio tried sprinkling the baby with water but he had no effect Rubio says that he used a larger sharper kitchen knife to cut off Johnny’s head Angela ever the dutiful mother took Johnny’s
body into the kitchen washed it and dunked his head into the bucket with his sister’s heads Rubio said that he and Camacho then began trying to clean up the mess they tried soaking up the blood soaked into the copy and wiped down the Walls he placed Julissa and Mary Jane’s bodies into a plastic bag and hid it behind the crib while placing their heads in a separate bag and tossing it under the bed Rubio and Camacho were tired so they took a shower together to wash all of the blood off them they then laid in bed the rest of the night and
throughout the next day Rubio’s younger brother came to the apartment Angela said the day before the murders a woman they saw while riding the bus gave Johnny a piece of candy Rubio believed the woman had cast a spell on the children making them sick Rubio then demanded that Camacho break an egg in a glass of water and the way in which the egg yolk floated told him that someone had done something bad to Jalissa wait you’re telling me eggs over easy is a sign of demon possession huh the night before the murders Camacho
said that John’s mother came to the apartment and they all discussed using witchcraft to help the children she admitted to holding all the children down while Rubio’s decapitated them Camacho told investigators that the family had no money for rent and that their welfare and food stamp benefits were about to end because Ulysses social security number did not match the one on her birth certificate now Rubio and Angela were charged with three counts of capital murder making both of them eligible for the debt penalty Texas
spent two years trying to determine if Angela was legally competent to stand trial in a capital case and in the end the Court ruled that she was in July of 2005 Angela pled guilty to three counts of murder she was sentenced to three concurrent life prison sentences instead of the death penalty but she will be eligible for parole in 40 years Rubio however his attorneys insisted on going to trial claiming that Rubio was innocent by reason of insanity his attorneys also proposed that he was so far under the influence of spray paint
and that he didn’t know what he was doing or appreciate the seriousness of the situation Sorry boss uh I didn’t realize your honor is not an excuse during his first trial John Rubio testified that he used an array of drugs including marijuana spray paint and roaches or flonetrazepam a butcher that name a medication commonly referred to as the date drug which induces memory impairment drowsiness visual disturbances dizziness confusion among other effects Rubio testified that from the moment he first saw Angela he would
do anything to make her happy until the last moment of his life the jury however did not buy his excuses and they convicted him and sentenced him down but there was a Twist there was a slight procedural error committed during his trial you see Angelo refused to testify against Rubio so prosecutors admitted into evidence her video taped and written confessions but according to the Texas Supreme Court this was a big No-No because the accused has the right to confront all Witnesses in their trial and since Angela would not testify Texas
had to start the whole thing over now a forensic psychologist Jolie Brams stated that Rubio suffers from a delusional disorder she testified that Rubio also suffers from a learning disability ADHD and of low intelligence the low intelligence I believe she said this could impact his ability to consult with his attorneys while Rubio had been in prison he had become the go-to guy in filling our forms and requests from fellow inmates in the end the court determined that Rubio was okay and the trial crew proceed this time Camacho
would be testifying against him and Texas was again seeking the death penalty Rubio and Angela then started pointing the finger at each other saying that it was the other’s idea to take the children’s lives neither of them accepted responsibility Angelo you you already pled guilty shut the up Rubio and Angela had previously been referred to the State Child Protective agency because the children were found to be malnourished and needed medical attention but the parents who weren’t accused of physical abuse the CPS said
it had canceled the couple before concluding three months before the deaths that the couple was making progress in providing a home Camacho told the truth when she said they killed them because they were destitute and she would have done or said anything that rubia wanted Rubio epitomized the need for capital punishment Dr Michael wellner a forensic psychiatrist testified as an expert witness for the state he testified that he interviewed Rubio for 14 hours on June the 23rd and 24th of 2010 about a month before the retrial he also
interviewed many people who knew Rubio additionally he reviewed witness statements transcripts of testimony Rubio’s statements mental health evaluations and institutional records vulner identified several instances in which Rubio’s professed Illusions were contradicted by other things that Rubio had said undone for example Rubio’s first statement following his arrest he did not claim that he committed the murders because he was the chosen one he actually believed he was something special God chose me to do this Muppet
instead he asserted that he killed the children after Camacho instructed him to do it Rubio also told officers that he had considered calling the police right after the defense reasoning that everyone makes mistakes yeah making a mistake is accidentally kicking your foot on the sofa we’ve all done it the edge of the sofa right making mistakes is when you order Chick-fil-A and you forget to get the Chick-fil-A sauce not chopping a kid’s head off well I testified that Rubio’s deflection of responsibility onto Camacho and his
description of the offense as a mistake were indications that rubia was aware that his conduct was wrong in addition Rubio’s actions immediately after the offense further indicated that he knew his conduct was wrong for example he cleaned up the crime scene concealed the children’s bodies put them all in trash bags and then he had sexual intercourse with Camacho after telling her that they were going to jail and they’d never see each other again while enough further noted that Rubios told investigators that while he was committing the offense
Julissa asked her mother to tell him to stop Wellness suggested that Rubio’s statement indicated that he recognized Julissa when he killed her so he was fully aware of what he was doing it was not consistent with his professed delusion that he his deceased Grandmother Had possessed Julissa and was speaking to him through her body Rubio also admitted that when he took Mary Jane’s life Camacho cried and said please not my daughter this was inconsistent with his statement that Camacho had instructed him to take the
children’s life valana also pointed out that although Rubio stated to investigate is that he believed that Jose and the responding officer were possessed Rubio did not act aggressively toward them wellner went on to say that if Rubio’s Act of taking the children’s lives really were driven by a psychotic delusion that prevented him from knowing that his contact was wrong then Rubio would have been similarly driven to act when confronted by adults who were possessed he would not have modified his conduct based on the possessed persons
relative size and strength wellner concluded arubio did not suffer from a severe mental disease so when it was all said and done Angelo was sentenced to three life terms and Rubio in 2010 was sentenced to death and I go back to what I said earlier have you heard anything like it have you ever heard anything like it what the is this I can’t help but curse I’m actually like flabbergasted I have no words what Earth are you doing like I’m I’m trying to picture the scene what the were you thinking spray paint if we break it down
it seems you’ve been taking drugs his whole life his brain’s obviously been rewired he knows ramble wrong but he cannot comprehend his reality to a sense it’s like his sense perception has just become Twisted hallucinations or whatever you want to call it that’s how you can explain uh the demon possessions or whatever he was seeing I believe in demons I believe in another dimension we have all these other uh life forms if you like well not in this story this was two crackheads acting like crack pots just so demented so sad thank you for
