Seth kho was born October 10th 2006 in Iowa his favorite things were Elmos blanky his pacifier and fire trucks he loved playing with his brother sha their mother was Michelle kho now on Sunday October 26th 2008 Michelle drove her two sons at the time Seth was two and his brother sha was seven she drove them to Jessup Iowa at approximately 12:30 she stopped at a convenience store and asked where a park was located so her children could play the store clerk named a couple of local parks Michelle took the children to a different Park she

purposefully dropped her cell phone and left next she took the children to a secluded spot that she had previously found near Littleton Iowa a location just a few miles from the park in the early afternoon she parked her vehicle near a pond and told the children she needed to get out of the van kho opened the back of the hatch she used duct tape that she already had opened to cover the children’s eyes and then slit both of their necks using a hunting knife she then doctored the scene making it look like someone had attempted to perform

First Aid on the children and setting out a note detailing how a strange male had done this she then did the same to herself and she lost Consciousness for some time but then the next day she woke up and walked to a nearby home for help there she told the woman who came to the door that she and her children had been attacked by a man the woman in the home called for help immediately on October 27th now once medical personnel and police came to the house Michelle was airlifted to the University of Iowa hospital where police located the van

next to the pond the youngest child Seth had died from the wounds to his neck the older child sha was alive and in the van he told the First Responders that his mother had taken him out of the van into the woods and cut him with something he said he began pushing her away and she left him alone he relayed that his mother went to his brother next and that he passed out after he heard his brother needing help according to sha he woke up later and then got back in the van and hid he also told the Medics that his

mother had covered his eyes with duct tape Agents from the Iowa Department of Criminal investigations first made contact with Michelle at 10:00 a.m. on October 27th this is before she went into surgery Michelle was intubated and unable to speak the agents asked her if she could answer their questions and she indicated with her hands that she would need to write she wrote a note detailing that a man attacked them indicating a man hid in the back of the van in Jessup she could see him in her RAR view mirror after they left the playground this man

indicated to her she should turn East she decided to use pepper spray she had with her to get away from him but he overpowered her taped her up and then injured the boys she regained Consciousness and tried to help the children with the first aid kit but the man came back and injured her with a knife then she lost Consciousness again she also told police that she had tried to write a note explaining the incident and that it was on a yellow paper in the van according to police the interaction with her took approximately 3 minutes

and then she went into surgery the police next met with Michelle at approximately 11:30 a.m. the next day and according to agent Chris Callaway he and his other agent spoke with Michelle while she was in the hospital room she was laying in a bed somewhat upright she was hooked up to some machines and other various equipment the agents asked medical staff if she was able to communicate with them or whether the medication she was taking or her injury would prevent it the medical staff believed there was no indication there

would be any problems she was still unable to speak however so the agents asked her again write your responses on paper agent Callaway began by telling Michelle to let him know if at any time she did not want to talk anymore Michelle then asked how her children were and the agent did not respond he then asked her what happened Michelle again described the same allegation about a man who did this including details about his weight glasses hair color age High clothing smell and the tone of his voice and scars during the

interview a nurse came into check and provided care for Melle the agents left the hospital room for 10 minutes and then came back now agent Cala testified that when they returned Michelle immediately resumed writing answers without further prompting or questions from the agents as she continued to provide an account of what claim took place Michelle wrote when a Cen was here yesterday sha said I was trying to hurt him trying to stop the bleeding turning head applying pressure over theft already purple lips cradle both of them

agent Callaway understood this statement to be an explanation of why the oldest child had reported his mother who was the one who did this this is when agent Callaway initiated a second break which he used to speak with the other agent and investigators outside of K’s hospital room in order to get a plan together to go back in and confront her on some of the things they knew not to be true now when the agents returned again Callaway told Michelle comparing her responses to what investigators found at the scene he still had more

questions Michelle responded okay how can I help while Callaway asked specific questions about her previous statements Callaway told her that her oldest son was alive and he was doing okay he then told her a story about a traffic incident he experienced when he was a State Trooper involving a father who had fallen asleep while driving and whose son died as a result after some more back and forth caway told Michelle her story did not make sense and did not match what the oldest son was reporting Michelle then confessed to her actions

now before I continue after this story I’ve got the case of Gerald B on one of the dirtiest bastards I’ve ever come across so please stay tuned for that one she provided details including that she slit the throat of her oldest son first because he is older and the youngest child would remain contained in the vehicle until she returned for him the agents asked her about the duct tape and Michelle responded she purchased it a couple of months ago and told them where she purchased it a couple of months ago she planned this for a while eh they

asked her if she purchased the duct tape for this reason and she said yeah it’s sickening isn’t it she also told the agents the note she left in the van detailed the attack by an unknown man that note was first written a month before and then she rewrote it the morning of the incident Michelle was then charged with first-degree murder attempted murder and child endangerment resulting in serious injury she moved to have the venue of the trial changed from Buchanan County to that end on September 18th 2009 55 potential jurors was sworn

in and provided with a jury questionnaire for a mock jury in Buchanan County the court excused 14 potential jurors based on their answers a number of them were interviewed by attorneys and based on the prospective juror’s response the court concluded approximately 50% of the jurors held such a fixed opinion of the merits of the case they could not impartially decide her guilt or innocence additionally the court noted the case had received extensive pre-trial publicity in the area hence why the jurors were influenced so the court

granted Michelle motion for change of venue the trial itself took place over several days in October and November 2009 in Grundy County Michelle did not contest that she was the actor who slit her children’s throat she relied on her defense of legal Insanity Michelle did not testify in her own defense but two experts testified as to their opinion on whether she was insane both confirmed that while she understood the nature and quality of her actions she could not distinguish right from wrong at the time she did so the experts noted her stated

belief that death would save the children from having their own experiences with mental health issues and the shame of having this kind of mother additionally Michelle believed that because of the children’s ages they would get to heaven and have eternal life however the states expert opinion suggested Michelle was not legally insane at the time of her actions noting that she had taken great steps to conceal her identity as the perpetrator and her continued lie after the fact the jury eventually convicted Michelle of

a trailer his EST strange wife Jennifer had rented the Highland Village mobile home park Gerald and Jennifer had met over the internet in 2000 and then they got married in 2001 moving from Louisiana to Mississippi with Jennifer’s children including Courtney LeBlanc the victim in this case now they lived in a trailer on land owned by Gerald’s parents however the couple separated after Jennifer learned over the Christmas holidays from Courtney and other daughters that Gerald had touched them inappropriately as I said Dirty

Bastard Jennifer had immediately alerted Mississippi child protection services and Gerald was ordered to leave the residence however Gerald and Jennifer remained in contact after she moved back to l Louisiana first to Donaldsonville and then to Denim Springs where she rented the trailer in the Harland Park mobile home that I mentioned in the beginning although the trailer had appeared in good condition from the outside Jennifer described his interior as an absolute disaster so because of this Gerald began working on various

repairs in the trailer including its electrical wiring which led to the accident the electrocution I mentioned a neighbor recalled hearing a loud pop and when she looked out of of her own trailer she saw Gerald lying on the ground Courtney had been helping him out that day and after calling her mother at work in a panic she then called 911 leading to the dispatch of medical personnel to the scene they revived Gerald and took him to the hospital for additional treatment although he soon checked himself out against medical

advice and went to the home of his sister Cindy landre one week later on the morning of November 15th 2002 Courtney disappeared appeared from the trailer on Linda Road and was never seen alive again you see the previous day Courtney had gone with her mother to the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge where Jennifer’s brother had been taken in critical condition following a traffic accident Jennifer stayed overnight with her brother in the hospital but Courtney decided to return to the trailer although she had never before spent the

night alone a friend of Jennifers took Corney back to the trailer and they spoke with each other on the civer phones several times over the course of the evening as Courtney continued to insist that she could spend the night alone the following afternoon when Jennifer returned to the trailer from the hospital Courtney was gone the police were called at first with a report that Courtney may have run away from home she had done so previously with the daughter of Cindy landre with whom Jennifer had stayed for one week

following her return to Louisiana investigation into Courtney disappearance mushroomed almost immediately when FBI agents who were in The area to assist a big investigation into the serial killings that were plaguing Baton Rouge and its surrounding parishes at the time join to determine whether Courtney disappearance had any connections to the Derek Todd Lee case this was a separate case and of course a separate suspect but in the course of ensuing investigation the police interviewed Gerald several times and the

FBI agent sent a questionnaire he had filled out to the bureau’s behavior analysis unit now the results of the analysis led the agents to focus their investigation on Gerald and on November 22nd 2002 they placed him under surveillance following him that night into Mississippi where he visited a graveyard close to his parents’ property but then they lost contact with him in the darkness Gerald was on Parole at the time that he traveled to Mississippi and the officers knew that he had violated the terms of his parole by paying a

visit the graveyard however they did not take him into custody to avoid jeopardizing the ongoing investigation into courtne disappearance so on November 2006 FBI agent Glenn methven asked Gerald to come to their Police Department he arrived in his own car which was later impounded and searched after his arrest later that afternoon the agents also requested that Jennifer and Gerald’s sister Cindy come to the Station House to confront Gerald according to a script prepared by the FBI you see Gerald it was a setup the

woman followed the script and individually informed Gerald that if if he wanted to have anything to do with his family ever again then he should disclose whatever he knew about Courtney’s disappearance after the woman left the station Gerald met with FBI agents Gerald informed the agents that he wanted to speak with his sister Cindy once more and that afterwards he would take them where they needed to go the agents placed Gerald under arrest for the parole violation and then transported him to the home of Cindy

where he spoke to his sister from the back of a petroleum unit while she stood at the opened window outside of the vehicle finally after approximately 20 minutes Cindy leaned inside the vehicle and hugged her brother goodbye and then directed the agents to where the body of Courtney was in the thick under Bush along the banks of the Amite River only minutes from my sister’s house to reach the location they crossed the Amite River and then looped back to its West Bank inside East Baton route Parish when the officers found her body the 12 old

Courtney had only a pair of shorts and a single tennis shoe nearby the police found a t-shirt partially buried in a tire truck cut into the muddy Access Road leading to the river bank and further away some 400 ft from her body a pair of red panties clinging to a clump of Weeds now they didn’t find this at the scene but later they were given a large knife with the green handle this was given by Michael Cinelli he had found found it when he went fishing in the area 2 days later he had picked the knife up because it looked useful for

cutting bait but when he learned that the police had found a young girl’s body on the River Bank he returned to the area where he gave it to the police officers investigating the crime scene a few days later he went back with the police and retraced his steps to show exactly where he had found the knife in one of the water filled pot holes cut into Access Road leading into the riverbank the pot hole was only 50 ft away from where the police had discovered Courtney’s body but Cinelli never saw it in the thick under Bush

Jennifer did identify the knife Cinelli found as one that had been in a block of knives she kept in the kitchen of the trailer she had discovered the knife missing after The Disappearance of Courtney now the circumstances of when and how Courtney came to lie on the banks of the Amat River were sharply disputed at trial Gerald gave a videotaped statement on the night of November 26th where he had been taken because the victim’s body had been found in his statement Gerald related that he had called his employer Delta concrete

at 6:00 a.m. on November 15th and learned that he would be on standby for the day he decided to drive over to the Highland Village trailer park to spend a few hours in Jennifer’s trailer and when he walked inside through the back door he was surprised to find Courtney alone and asleep on the couch Gerald went back outside drove out of the trailer park and left his car on a side road and then walked back through the woods to to Jennifer’s trailer he woke Courtney and told her to come with him Gerald took a large butcher knife from the kitchen

when they left the trailer and informed Courtney that he would take her life if she screamed or tried to run he then drove with the victim into Mississippi where he turned into the woods off a Gravel Road near Gloucester he got Courtney out of the car and told her to take her clothes off Gerald then had the naked girl kneel in front of him and perform oral X finishing in her mouth you dirty dirty sod he had left the knife behind in the car and did not hold it to Courtney or threaten her during the ordeal when he was finished Courtney

put back on her t-shirt and shorts but carried her underwear back to the car Gerald then drove back to Louisiana where he got out of the car walked her toward the riverbank pushed her down straddled her chest and throttled her to death in the struggle Courtney’s t-shirt came off and the knife which Gerald had put in his back pocket when he got his stepdaughter out of his car fell to the ground where Michael chinelli later found it when he left the scene Gerald discarded Courtney’s underwear which had been lying on the floorboard of his car

in this statement Gerald repeatedly denied that he had assaulted his stepdaughter although he eventually admitted that in the ride to Mississippi he claimed he had rubbed Courtney in both places but never penetrated her the state corroborated Gerald’s confession with the results of the autopsy on Courtney which found that the thid bone in her neck had been broken a Telltale sign of throttling the state also introduced climatological data for the middle of November collected from an automated weather station in Baton rad

and testimony from Genie tesma a forensic entomologist working for the Livingston Parish mosquito who had examined fly lvi collected from the girl’s body tesma testified that given the relatively cold and wet conditions that prevailed at the time of Courtney disappearance and the stage of development of the insect lvi the postmortem interval from the time of the body came to lie on the banks of the Amat River until it was discovered by the police was somewhere between 8 to 13 days so it took her around 2 weeks to

find the body the conclusion was November 16th 2002 as the highest probability for the date of death the timeline corresponds to the circumstances described by Gerald in his confession in addition the state presented DNA evidence from Natasha po a criminal with the Louisiana State Police crime lab who had examined various samples taken from Courtney and from Gerald’s car after the police impounded the vehicle po did not find Gerald’s DNA inside his step-daughter but she did find evidence of seminal fluid in the

girl’s cervix po found that a sample removed from a large stain found on the transmission hump of the vehicle contained a high concentration of Gerald’s DNA a lot of sperm according to her at the highest level on her measurements scale in closing arguments she suggested that Gerald had not been entirely forthcoming about the circumstances under which he abducted Courtney the criminalist claimed that a second assault had occurred in the car either penetration accounting for the presence of seminal fluid in the girl’s

cervix or a second act in which he finished into her mouth and she then spat out the fluid onto the transmission hump of the vehicle the defense disagreed with the timeline provided by Gerald in his statement on the premise that if you were wrong about the dat on which Courtney’s body was deposited into the river then jurors could not find any part of his confession worthy of belief called by the defense call ketzner a former Lieutenant at the Sheriff’s Office acknowledged that information the police had received from the pathologist

who performed the autopsy indicated that the postmortem interval had been only 3 to 5 days placing the victim’s death well after the date provided by Gerald creter himself interviewed Gerald to account specifically for the two weeks Courtney had been missing in an attempt to confirm the timeline provided by his statement ketzner satisfied himself that Gerald’s timeline not the coroners represented an accurate accounting of Courtney’s murder however he could not account for the red panties found at the scene given the cold wet and windy

conditions which prevailed at the time ketzer testified that the panties could have been there a day or two but he would not have thought any longer than that in fact when Jim Churchman from the police crime lab attempted to photograph the panties as part of of the crime scene the underwear fell off the clump of weeds creter speculated that Gerald who had stayed at the Budget Inn on the night of November 23rd only a quarter of a mile from the victim’s body may have Revisited the scene and dropped the panties at the time now the defense

themselves called witnesses to establish that Jennifer had appeared hysterical after the electrical accident which nearly claimed Gerald’s life but seemed unnaturally calm during The Disappearance of her daughter that Courtney had often acted as if she had been afraid of her mother and that one witness Gerald’s niece had observed Jennifer on one occasion grab her daughter by the throat and choke her in a dispute overd doing laundry in addition the autopsy results indicated that acetone was present in the victim’s

blood which defense suggested may have been caused by salvation she experienced in the unaccounted for days after she disappeared the defense theory was that Jennifer took her daughter’s life and that Gerald had confessed to the crime to spare his estrange wife whom he still loved what the  she had given him the details of the crime to relate to the police in his confession the reason why Council suggested Gerald referred to the underwear found on the scene as boxes nor panties a mistake that no man would make unless he was merely relying

information given to him from another source such as Jennifer she testified at trial that her daughter occasionally slept in blue or burgundy boxes the crime scene was stage Council theorized in such a way that Gerald could find it after Jennifer gave him directions to the location marked by the red panties which served as a red flag pointing the way but with all this halalu the jury didn’t buy the defense’s argument Gerald was sentenced to death he was executed January 7th 2010 I’ve heard that um in a few cases before Oh I love her so much
