This is breaking news my little girl better return her now this is ridiculous Whoever has her just bring her home safe she’s ours not yours and we have breaking news tonight the parents of a missing toddler are pleading for answers and for their daughter’s safe return police from all over are searching the area saying they will not go home until they find 14-month-old shayon woke up that morning today and went to go see if jayen was there and she was G they have no idea where I’m thinking somebody that has a big grudge over my
family I don’t know what kind of Grudge would have against my family I mean my family is the most peaceful people in the world police officers along with dogs are out searching right now for a 15-month-old girl who has been missing from her father’s home in Spain answer the grandmother of shayon ammerman says she put the little girl to bed on Tuesday night and the girl was gone by Wednesday morning we’re moms we’re dads and this type of case is something that’s incredibly important to us that we find this little girl it’s
going to speak plain and clearly whoever did this needs to burn in hell there’s no need for something like this to happen in the quiet town of Spencer Indiana a little girl was born with blue eyes and blonde hair she loved to dance whenever music played on TV everyone called her the happiest baby in the world and her laughter filled the home with joy no one could have imagined that an ordinary night in March of 2016 would turn into a nightmare this tragedy shocked not just this small town of 2300 people but the entire country shayon

on December 31st 2014 in Bloomington Indiana Jessica Stewart and Justin ammerman became parents to a beautiful baby girl shayen ammerman she was Justin’s first child but she already had two older brothers Gage and blae from her mom’s previous relationships from day one she became the joy and pride of her family especially for her father father and grandmother shayen was a happy vibrant child her uncle said she had the most adorable smile on Earth she was always laughing and giggling loved to play patty cake and peekaboo but more than
anything shayen loved to dance her grandma remembered when even the slightest tune of music comes on she starts dancing her mom agreed she’s a happy baby anytime any kind of music comes on the TV she’s bobbing her head stomping around dancing at 14 months old shayin was just learning to walk and still unsteady on her little feet her great grandmother said she could take a few steps but would Teeter and then fall to the floor she could hardly walk steadily without falling down [Music] [Music] Justin and Jessica broke up soon after
shayon was born and they shared custody of their baby she spent half her time with her mom Jessica and the other half with her dad Justin he lived with his mother brother and stepfather in a small White House in Spencer Indiana Spencer is a Tiny Town only about 2,300 people lived there in 2016 the house sat on a quiet lot on West Jefferson Street near Riverside Cemetery and the Assembly of God church tomorrow Morgan Justin’s mom grew up in Spencer and always thought it was safe I’ve lived in Spencer all my life and we
don’t lock doors here she said when shayen stayed with her dad Tamara was her main caretaker Tamara adored her first granddaughter and said she was the easiest and happiest baby to take care of Tamara had a full house besides Justin and shayon her husband Danny Morgan and one of her other grown sons Adam ammerman shared her home another woman named Kelly Rogers was also staying with the family with all the bedrooms being full shaylen’s crib was set up in the living room with her toys and clothes stored nearby this made it
easy for Justin and Tamara to take care of the baby but it also meant everyone in the house could easily access her Adam sometimes had friends visit the home one friend Kyle Parker had visited at least a dozen times according to Tamara she thought Kyle seemed like a nice guy and trusted him he talked so kindly and he played with shayen she recalled at least once when the baby woke up fussy Tamara watched Kyle Rock her back to sleep Kyle had been living with Tina Wagner and her husband in gosport an even smaller town about 10
miles from Spencer he had moved out but still did odd jobs for the couple they hired him to paint their garage and he hadn’t finished yet from how often Kyle visited Adam Tamara thought he was her son’s friend however Adam described him more as an acquaintance or a friend of a friend on March 23rd 2016 the night a air was unusually still almost as if the world was holding its breath Adam was still slightly hung over from drinking the night before but decided to invite Kyle over to watch TV and drink whiskey
since the baby was in the living room they went into Adam’s bedroom his stepfather Dany joined them the men’s laughter occasionally drifted out into the hallway their voices lowered as the night grew deeper around 10:00 Tamara dressed jayen in her owl ony for bed the fabric was soft perfect for the Cool Spring night she carefully tucked the purple pacifier in beside the baby’s cheek and wrapped her favorite Winnie the Pooh blanket around her tiny body Tamara couldn’t know that these familiar bedtime rituals would be the last she’d
ever perform for her granddaughter Justin came to kiss his daughter good night leaning down over the crib rails I bent down and said Daddy loves you and gave gave her a kiss and hug good night he would later recall his voice breaking at the memory the house gradually grew quieter as the night wore on Tamara checked on shayin several times throughout the evening the last time around 1:30 in the morning before going to bed herself by then Adam had fallen asleep in his room I fell asleep because I was a bit hung over tired and had a
little too much to drink went to bed passed out he later admitted his stepfather Dany tried to go to bed around 1:30 with Tamara but the couple liked falling asleep to music and their bedroom TV wasn’t working Dany woke Adam to help fix it after the TV was working again Tamara checked on the baby one final time the little girl was sleeping peacefully her chest rising and falling in the soft glow of the NightLight Tamara had no way of knowing this would be the last time she would see her granddaughter alive Adam returned to his bedroom where Kyle
was still awake drinking alone the house fell silent except for the occasional creaking of the old floors outside the trees stood motionless no wind to stir their branches the darkness felt heavier than usual as if something sinister was gathering in the shadows sometime later Adam briefly woke to the sound of the front door opening through his window he glimpsed Kyle walking across the yard to his his car Adam would later recall calling out Kyle where are you going but receiving no answer Kyle simply got into
his car and drove away into the night what Adam didn’t mention to reporters but later told police was that he might have seen something dangling from Kyle’s arms as he walked away something that looked like a small foot the hours crept by Kelly another Resident of the house returned from work after 2: in the morning left some newspaper on the kitchen counter and departed early for her next shift without interacting with anyone meanwhile Kyle arrived at his friend’s house in gosport around 3:40 in the morning an unusually early hour that
surprised the couple who were getting ready for work even more strange Kyle immediately showered and washed his clothes odd behavior for someone who was supposedly coming to paint a garage his friends noticed something different about him he was quiet distant not his usual self when the ammerman family woke around 8:00 that morning their world shattered tomorrow was still sleeping when her son shook her awake with a desperate cry mom do you have shayen Panic seized her as she rushed to the baby’s crib it was empty the Winnie the
Pooh blanket the purple pacifier gone only the teddy bear remained A Silent Witness to whatever had happened in the dark hours of the night the family searched frantically throughout the house but they knew shayin couldn’t have climbed out of her crib she could barely walk a few steps without falling she couldn’t have opened the front door which was notoriously difficult to operate nothing else was missing not Tamara’s new laptop sitting just feet from the crib not any valuables only shayen had vanished into the night with
no signs of forced entry but the door unlocked as usual Tamara was convinced a stranger had taken her granddaughter somebody came in and took her is what I’m thinking it it’s the only logical explanation that could happen there’s only one way in our house and one way out right now unless they break a window all I know is their door is loud and hard to open and shut and they have dogs that bark someone would have heard I think they know more than they’re letting on the family called 911 reporting the baby missing 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning
police got the call that 15-month-old shayon ammerman was missing shayon was staying at her father and grandmother’s house the grandma told police she put Shay to bed around midnight and went to check on her around 8:30 the next morning um and the um the child was not in her crib we had pounding on the door police rushed down the street to shaylen’s Mom’s house they hoped the child was there but she wasn’t after a few minutes it sunk in and I was crying while Jessica says she’s been wrestling with the shock and fear of the unknown investigators
have been searching high and low for any sign of the girl police say the girl’s grandmother and at least three men were in and out of the house last night they’ve questioned them all they’ve also served several search warrants on various vehicles and houses in and around Spencer right now we have made no arrests um there has been no clear motive that has has been established strangely they didn’t call Jessica shayan’s mother she only learned her daughter was missing when police knocked on her door looking for the baby as the
family prayed for shayan’s safe return officers launched search and rescue teams using adiv they combed through the underbrush and surrounding areas special Crews used sonar to check the nearby White River the search continued through the night the whole Community holding its breath hoping against hope Jessica pleaded with the public to bring her baby girl home news reports spread the word we’ve been following this story since The Disappearance and hours later shayen ammerman is still missing State Police tell us there are several Persons
of Interest and they won’t stop until shayon is found police interviewed everyone who had been at the home on West Jefferson Street that night several men including Justin took polygraph tests cell phones and computers were seized as evidence and a search warrant was obtained for the Facebook records of everyone involved Tamara told reporters she was terrified and begged for help finding shayen I’m scared I’m angry I’m frustrated I’m scared to death for her she said her voice trembling find my granddaughter get it out there get it
everywhere when detectives questioned Kyle they noticed fresh scratches all over his arms which claimed came from a cat during his first interview he said he’d left the ammerman house before 1:15 him waving goodby to Adam as he left he claimed he had no idea what happened to the toddler during the interview police allowed Kyle to take a smoke break with his stepfather Mike Patton this decision would prove crucial during this break Kyle made a chilling comment that shook his stepfather to the core he told Mike
that police would know the truth once they found shayan’s body and the DNA with it hearing these words Mike was certain Kyle was responsible for the little girl’s disappearance police asked The Stepfather to talk to Kyle and encourage him to cooperate in a second interview Kyle changed his story he drew a map showing police where he had left the toddler claiming he and Adam had found shayon unresponsive in the family home and had taken her to gosport to dispose of her body police police informed him that Adam had passed his polygraph test
and they had reason to believe he wasn’t involved Kyle was arrested and a search team was dispatched to the location he had indicated following Kyle’s map officers made their way through downtown gosport out of town and down a long Winding Road toward the river 36 hours after she was reported missing baby shayon was found near a Fallen Tree on a remote patch of land between the White River and Indian Creek nearby investigators discovered a pile of Ashes where they believed her clothes and blanket had been burned Justin and his
family learned about Sharon’s death from the news they weren’t notified before the news report aired We are following breaking news out of Owen County Indiana that’s where State Police say they found a body matching the description of shayon ammerman she is the 15-month-old little girl who was reported missing from Spencer Indiana today at noon hearts are breaking after hooers learn that a little girl with bright blue eyes and this sweet smile won’t be coming home everybody now wondering why would anyone want to harm shayon ammerman it’s
horrible and it’s very very horrible we’re slowly trying to get over this and you know we can just only take it one day at a time and I understand how Jess feels because I mean you know I keep putting myself in her shoes and I can’t even begin to grasp what she’s really going through but as a mother you know I can I I understand it makes it very personal because when I hug my one-year-old daughter I start crying because I know the mother isn’t going to be able to hug her baby anymore honestly lost some sleep at night because it’s it bothers
me so much I have two grandbabies the same age as her I just couldn’t imagine I just can’t believe someone that’s sick that and I don’t think it’s excusable I don’t think the death penalty is good enough for him at all I just hugged the mom and told her I was sorry for her loss we put out in the in the news release already a body of a female infant has been discovered um near gosport um that uh that body um did match the description of shayon ammerman um that body was located in a remote area just Northeast of gosport
along the White River um actually where Indian Creek meets the White River to say this but Kyle or whoever is have and he’s in custody the cause of it I hope the wrath of God comes on him an arrest has been made in connection with this case Kyle Parker age 2 2 of Spencer speak plain and clearly whoever did this needs to burn in hell Justin was devastated saying he wished he could turn back time and save her but both Justin and Adam insisted that Kyle must have had an accomplice and were certain no one in their family
had anything to do with shayan’s death just just because we want to be accurate if you could what’s your first and last name exp it’s uh Adam a d a m emmerman a m m e r m a n Jus um Justin j s t i n ammerman a m m e r m a n Justin I first want to ask you first my condolences to you obviously um how how are you holding up and what’s keeping you going right now I’m I don’t even know I’m I’m so stressed that I wish I could take back time what and save her what was shayen like I know she’s young 15 months but I know we were
talking about there she was joyful playful she was a happy baby she she never once comp you know she was just a happy baby she climbed everywhere she ran everywhere well tried to run anyway she you told me she her hands what yeah she did this with her hands and it was just it brought tears to my eyes every time when when was the last time you saw shayon and and what was the last thing you said to her um I solar the last time I saw shum was in her bed and I leaned down and I said Daddy loved you and gave her a kiss and
hug good night it Tuesday night Adam let me ask you um you live at that house too you were to stay there that night I I live at that house too and uh I just I just want to remember her as a lovable bouncy baby girl that laughed giggled and played everywhere climbed on everything walked and she’s she everywhere in that room everywhere in that uh house she has been she walks everywhere she she she loves to go like this to be picked up she she giggles she she has the most adorable smile on Earth I just did she how much joy did she
bring to all you guys she she brought she was my grand my mom’s first granddaughter and that was she is the love of our life she is the most precious adorable baby girl that brought enormous enormous joy to our family when when you found out yesterday um not only of shanon’s passing but of Kyle’s arrest how do you process all that wow I trusted that man we we we trusted that man our family trusted that man to the point where we invited him into our house every time and he his family has we’ve been nothing kind nothing but kind to his
family and we’ve done no wrong to him he’s I don’t know why he would do this I trusted him enough to the point where I went to bed my own I I went to sleep when he him when he was still awake and what run me through what was my understanding was you and him were hanging out or uh was going on it it was three of us it was me my stepdad Danny and Kyle we were all in my bedroom we were sitting now sitting down watching TV and yeah we had a few drinks but nothing to the extent of what they are saying as a party you’re just hanging out yes we’re
just hanging out having a good old time laughing talking about random stuff I was nowhere near Justin Justin was never in the room what happened though did did did you guys fall asleep did Kyle leave I I uh I fell asleep once cuz I was a little hung over and I was tired and I had a just a little much over my limit and I went to bed passed out I got woken up because my stepdad ended up screwing up our TV package on Dish and uh I had to fix that that was at uh 1 2:00 in the morning I fixed that went to bed about 2:30 was Kyle still there yes
he was still there awake awake what was he doing he was still drinking with himself or yeah with himself was anyone still awake that was your stepdad still awake was he just there he was in his room awake trying to fix his TV and I was trying to fix the TV where was Kyle he was just Kyle was in my room sitting in uh the chair drinking and talking to people on his phone I guess cuz I heard the tick tick tick to texting and uh at uh roughly 3 4:00 in the morning morning I heard the front door open and I look out my window and
Kyle’s walking down the uh yard to his car I opened my window I yell out to him Kyle where are you going he never answered me back he just got in his car and took off did you see shayin at all no I I didn’t see shayin at all I but then of course I was sleepy I had sleepy eyes I was I had alcohol in me and my Vision was all messed up what do you I know we don’t like to speculate the aops is not even done do you guys have any idea what his role was in this or what he did no no we have no idea what his role was we just we want to find out we want
answers I want to know why this man come in my house and took my daughter and did what he did with her I really want to know this is he was he was a friend right I mean family friend he he was he was he was more of an acquaintance and then you just had hung out with a couple of times we just hung out a couple times he he he was he was a very nice guy not up tight just a real decent nice guy just hanging out just hanging out Justin what I know he’s in jail what would you say to him right now if you had an opportunity to speak with
him why why did you take my daughter and kill her and hopefully not hurt him that do you think anybody else was involved I don’t know I honestly don’t think he acted alone he had to have somebody somebody accomplice pitting him up to it or something I honestly don’t think he would act alone and do this alone and Justus forgive me for asking this but you know everyone’s asking I mean did you or your family have anything to do with with her disappearance no no none of my family had nothing to do with this why why would
we our family is a peaceful family seems like you guys have as many questions as all of us do you really don’t don’t know what what his role was or why how she ended up where she did no we don’t we don’t we don’t have no question we we have no answers we can’t get no answers from the police cuz they won’t they they won’t inform us and I don’t know why why they informed the mother before they they they never informed the father but they informed the mother justtin how did you find out I found this out on the news and on
Facebook what is that like to find out your one-year-old passed away and having to find out that way it’s heartbreaking it it Beyond I can’t do it more quickly what what can our viewers do how how can they help um what do you need we can have get donations for when we have the when we plan the funeral for her I’m not sure when that’s going to be but if you guys can help out any way you can while Kyle never confessed to police over the weekend his stepfather visited him in jail according to Mike Kyle made a full confession during this visit
revealing horrific details that would haunt everyone involved in the case for years to come Kyle admitted he had taken shayon from the house while she was still alive and drove toward gosport along the way he pulled over to the side of the road there in the front seat of his car he brutally assaulted the innocent 14-month-old girl before smothering her with a cloth he had in the vehicle the baby struggled making gurgling sounds as life slipped away from her tiny body after the unthinkable crime Kyle told his stepfather that he
attempted to cover his tracks by wiping down both his body and shalin with bleach he even poured bleach inside her body in a desperate attempt to destroy any DNA evidence he then burned her owl pajamas her purple pacifier and beloved Winnie the Pooh blanket reducing these symbols of childhood innocence to ashes Kyle claimed he had acted alone and told Mike he had no intention of spending the rest of his life in prison instead he planned to remove himself from the earth a suicide threat that prompted jail officials to place him under constant
video surveillance in a padded cell with guards checking on him every 15 minutes on March 28th Kyle was charged with murder rep strangulation kidnapping aggravated battery and additional charges Donald Vander Moore the Owen County prosecutor acknowledged the difficulty of such a disturbing case involving a young and innocent victim the types of things that are alleged to have happened are just they’re just atrocious uh We’ve made arrangements uh for my law enforcement officers and the First Responders to have counseling uh I
think it would be appropriate that everybody take time this is the first time in in my tenure uh that I’ve seen Grown law enforcement officers uh just went in pain at this point we’re not going to make an emotional determination regarding the death penalty or life without parole request uh we have a meeting scheduled next week with my law enforcement officers and my Deputy prosecutor that will try this case with me I will’ll make a decision uh hopefully within the next month or two regarding that aspect of the case the
true extent of the atrocity became clear when the results of shayan’s autopsy were released the examination had to be conducted across state lines in Louisville Kentucky by Donna Stewart a specialist in pediatric cases involving sexual assault and battery she described it as the worst case of sexual trauma she had ever seen the charging documents detailed the violent rape of one-year-old shayen amberman causing the coroner to call this the worst case of sexual trauma she had seen in her career shayan’s body was bruised with what she
termed numerous very apparent injuries sustained in a sexual assault the cause and manner of death was homicide by asphixiation shayan’s Family struggled with her loss made so much worse by the trauma she had endured grandmother Tamara said there are so many emotions that you can’t even pinpoint what emotion you’re feeling one minute you’re disgusted then you’re angry we didn’t want to hear that she was hurt you have to be a really demented psychopath to hurt a baby you know you did it and then be so straight and calm and
cool and just lie for a day a whole 24 hours when you knew where that baby was no person should ever have to go through that especially an innocent baby an innocent baby should never ever have to be tortured that way it was just pure total evil torture Jessica the mother was haunted by thoughts of her daughter’s final moments every day I have images in my head of what that night was like for her she said there’s nothing he could say or do to ever make me forgive him in her impact statement directed at Kyle she
said you took my loving sweet and beautiful daughter away from me her brothers her dad and everyone who loves her I hope you live with your guilt and it torments you for the rest of your life father Justin said that shayin was his only child and the light of his life when I heard all the horrible things he did to my precious girl I wanted to die too he admitted I have really no words for him only to for him to just die we would have liked him got a whole lot more too but we know he’s in prison he’s not going to get out alive I wish he
would have got that penalty be honest with you even that wouldn’t have been enough cuz I don’t know how anybody could do something that gruesome to a little baby I mean that’s just not even comprehendable that he did that prosecutor Vander Moore worked for a year to build a case that would end in the death penalty or at least life imprisonment for Kyle but unfortunately the case fell apart on February 28th 2017 he stood before Owen circuit court judge Lori Thatcher quillin pleading with her to accept the plea deal he had
negotiated this plea deal covered only the murder and kidnapping charges all the sexual assault and other charges were dropped the prosecutor told the judge he had virtually no evidence linking Kyle to the crime shayan’s clothes had been burned leaving nothing but ashes despite Kyle’s alleged statements to his stepfather none of his DNA was found on any of the more than 100 items tested by the lab the lab also found no evidence of bleach even though he claimed to have used it to cover up his crime prosecutor Vander Moore stated
that the only piece of evidence that came back conclusively was related to a third party not Kyle Parker none of that helps our case he admitted police had administered three polygraph tests and two people failed the prosecutor didn’t name the other person who failed but it was clearly someone other than Kyle Parker polygraph results are admissible in Indiana courts and the defense could use the other positive result to shift blame away from Kyle the lack of evidence was enough to put the case on Shaky Ground but the prosecutor also had
serious problems with the witnesses they had committed in his words a large number of impeachable offenses this meant there was plenty of room for a jury to find Reasonable Doubt and suspect other people who had been in the home that night at least one of the witnesses had previously been charged with sexual assault of a young girl the prosecutor didn’t name the accused person but the Herald Times a local Indiana newspaper reported that Justin had been accused of sexually assaulting a girl younger than 13 years old this
alleged incident occurred in Illinois in 2003 but Justin wasn’t charged until 2009 he wasn’t arrested until 2012 he was never convicted and never faced trial the case was dismissed because his right to a speedy trial had been violated the police investigation also found evidence that someone in the house had been searching for violent pornography on electronic devices that multiple people had access to they couldn’t determine who had been making these searches and the Search terms were disturbing including white female bound
with rope and gagged girls wanted punishment from strangers and even more horrific phrases like girls eaten alive girls hanged and girls snuffed judge quillin accepted the plea deal she said the facts of this case were the most gut-wrenching I have ever heard your actions were pure evil on that evening many in this community rightfully wanted you to receive the death penalty or life without parole for this crime what I can legally do as a judge versus what I would like as a parent and member of this community are totally in Conflict
it’s clear to me based upon the gruesome facts of this case that you Mr Parker have no moral compass and no decency Kyle Parker was sentenced to 60 years for murder and 16 years for kidnapping to be served concurrently according to Indiana Law he must complete about 75% of his sentence before being eligible for parole by that time he will be 67 years old if he ever gets out he will have to register only as a violent offender since the sexual assault was not part of his plea deal he is currently serving his time at Indiana
State Prison he will complete his time served for kidnapping in 2028 he will not be eligible for parole on the murder charge until March of 2061 I could I mean I would ask him why why he did what he did I’m Miss happy he got what he got it may not been what I wanted but he won’t he’s not going to make it out alive we’ve got pretty much little BS going around our apartment complex if you makes it past 6 months there it’ll be lucky shayan’s funeral was held on March 30th 2016 at the Christian Life Center in Spencer before the public
visitation there was a private viewing for the officers who had searched for the toddler she was buried in a white dress with a purple jacket and attendees were encouraged to wear her favorite colors pink and purple businesses all over Spencer put up signs in her memory and hundreds in the small community showed up to remember shayin for those who couldn’t come the family asked members of the community to place a pink or purple light bulb in their porch light in her honor small beacons of light remembering a little girl who
loved to dance [Music] for being a dad for my first ever being a dad it’s hard right now I I Wish I Could Turn Back Time [Music] pray for one another pray for the family pray for comfort Pray For [Music] answers it just seems so surreal it just feels like a dream right now [Music]
