Clark, 37, married former Big Brother contestant and ex-police officer Neal in 2015 after a two-year romance. The couple announced their separation in 2021 and finalized their divorce later that year. In his 2022 memoir Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, Clark admitted that his own infidelity played a role in the breakup.

During a heartfelt interview on ITV’s The Assembly—where celebrities are quizzed by autistic, neurodivergent, and learning-disabled journalists—Clark reflected on the challenges and revelations that came with the split.

I never think about him,” Clark said of Neal. “I miss feeling like I’ve got it all. I thought I had life sorted—you know, the job, the  family, the marriage, the car, the house. I thought I had it sussed. I didn’t. I didn’t know what a real relationship was.”EXC Rylan Clark-Neal's desire for a family and husband Dan's hunt for TV career led to split | Daily Mail Online

He added, with surprising honesty: “It made me so ill… and it sounds terrible to say, but I’m glad it happened. I can look back now and know I don’t regret anything.”

Clark has previously spoken about the toll the divorce took on his health, revealing that his body “completely shut down,” leading to two heart failures. At one point, he couldn’t eat or even speak properly, dropping to just nine stone at six-foot-four.

He described the emotional devastation as “someone pulled the rug from under me… I fell over and I just couldn’t get back up, like I’d broken both my arms and legs.” To escape painful memories in the home he shared with Neal, Clark returned to live with his mother during that period.Rylan regrets not getting a pre-nup before marrying Dan Neal

In other news, Clark recently missed out on a return to Strictly Come Dancing, with the 2026 presenting line-up confirmed as Johannes Radebe, Josh Widdicome, and Emma Willis replacing Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly. Clark took the news with good humour, posting a 2012 X Factor clip of himself crying on Instagram and congratulating the new hosts.

This wasn’t my time sadly, but I’m extremely grateful to have even been considered. I’m taking the news really well and genuinely looking forward to the new series,” he wrote.

Clark’s episode of The Assembly airs Sunday, 24 May, at 10pm on ITV1 and ITVX, offering fans an intimate look at the highs and lows behind his public persona.
