100 Days Since Nancy Guthrie Disappeared: Investigation Moves Forward as Family Steps Back from Direct Contact

It has been more than 100 days since 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of TODAY host Savannah Guthrie, went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona — and the case remains unresolved.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that he is no longer in “personal” contact with Nancy’s family. All communication now flows through local detectives and FBI agents handling the investigation. “If they need the family for anything, they get in touch, and the family responds. It works both ways,” Nanos said.

Earlier in the investigation, Nanos frequently spoke directly with Savannah, her sister Annie, and brother Camron — texting, calling, and updating them on developments. Those direct conversations have since stopped, marking a shift in how authorities are managing the case.

Despite the lack of direct contact, officials insist the investigation remains active. Speaking to KOLD News 13, Sheriff Nanos said, “I think every day they get closer to solving this. With the physical evidence we have, there’s far too much work to give up after 100 days.”Sheriff Leading Nancy Guthrie Investigation Says Focus Is on Digital Evidence (Exclusive)

Locals and friends are increasingly concerned as public attention wanes. Lauren Serpa, who has known Nancy for over 12 years, told Page Six: “Even in Tucson, where it happened, people aren’t thinking about it as much. They haven’t forgotten, but it doesn’t affect their lives directly… that’s just human nature.”

Nancy was last seen in the early hours of January 31, 2026, at her Catalina Foothills residence. Sheriff Nanos remains hopeful that justice will be served. “At some point, I believe we will make an arrest. And whoever that individual is will have a fair and impartial trial,” he stated.

As investigators continue to sift through evidence and follow leads, the community keeps watch, holding onto hope for answers and closure for Nancy Guthrie.
