WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY WEDDING… But behind Kelly Ripa’s stunning Italian photos lies an untold story of silent sacrifice and an exhausting behind-the-scenes race against time. One family member completely vanished from the album, while Mark Consuelos made a shocking, desperate decision that left everyone stunned.
“KELLY RIPA COULDN’T STOP SMILING.” — Inside the Emotional Italian Wedding Weekend That Brought the Entire Consuelos Family Together
After another busy week in front of the cameras on Live With Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos traded the bright lights of New York for the rolling hills of Tuscany — and what followed became one of the couple’s most emotional family weekends in recent memory.

During the Monday, May 18 episode of Live, Ripa revealed that the Consuelos family had just celebrated a major milestone: the first wedding of the next generation of the family.
“We had a beautiful family event this weekend,” Ripa shared excitedly with viewers. “The first in the next generation of Consueloses has gotten married. Our nephew, Alec, got married to his beautiful fiancée, Deanna.”
The stunning ceremony took place in Tuscany, Italy, surrounded by close family, breathtaking countryside views, and what Ripa described as an unforgettable atmosphere filled with love and emotion.
But according to Ripa, one family member especially earned praise for making the celebration happen — her husband.
“Mark, I have to say, you win the Uncle of the Year Award,” she joked. “Because you spent more hours on the plane than you actually did at the wedding.”

Consuelos, who is currently starring in the Broadway production Fallen Angels, revealed just how intense his travel schedule had been. After finishing a performance Thursday night in New York City, he immediately boarded a flight to Italy, landed Friday morning, attended the wedding festivities, and then quickly flew back to the United States less than 24 hours later.
“I flew after my show Thursday night, landed Friday morning, went to the wedding, and then Saturday morning, I was back on a plane,” he explained. “I missed a couple shows, but I was back on stage Saturday night.”
Despite the exhausting trip, both hosts made it clear the celebration was more than worth it.
Throughout the show, Ripa shared several personal photos from the wedding weekend, giving viewers a rare glimpse inside the intimate family gathering.
One of the sweetest images showed the bride and groom kissing during their rehearsal dinner. Ripa laughed while explaining that it was nearly impossible to get a clear shot because everyone was trying to capture the emotional moment at the same time.
“It’s the one picture I got of them that’s actually clear,” she joked. “And that’s Lola’s hand taking the exact same picture.”
Their daughter Lola also attended the wedding alongside her boyfriend, Cassius Kidston. Another family photo showed Ripa and Consuelos sitting together at the ceremony with Lola and several relatives, including Mark’s cousin Roxanne.
Viewers also got a look at the newlyweds posing proudly beside their elegant wedding cake as the family celebrated late into the evening.

Meanwhile, the couple’s eldest son, Michael Consuelos, played a major role in the ceremony as one of the groomsmen. But according to Ripa, Michael accidentally created one hilarious behind-the-scenes disaster before the photos were taken.
As a picture of the family appeared onscreen, Ripa pointed out her noticeably flat hairstyle and blamed her son.
“If you look at my hair and think, ‘Kelly, what happened?’” she laughed. “Well, Michael borrowed my hairspray because he promised he’d give it back. He never gave it back.”
One especially emotional photo showed Mark standing beside his brother Mike while their sons, Michael and Alec, stood together nearby — a moment many viewers online later described as a touching symbol of the family’s close bond across generations.
“It was a great wedding,” Ripa said warmly. “Beautiful.”
Noticeably absent from the family photos, however, was the couple’s youngest son, Joaquin. Fans quickly wondered why he had missed such an important event.
While the hosts did not directly explain his absence during the show, Joaquin is currently starring in Death of a Salesman on Broadway, making it likely that his demanding theater schedule prevented him from traveling to Italy.
Ironically, Joaquin had recently become the unexpected star of another family story after organizing one of Ripa’s most unusual Mother’s Day celebrations ever.
Earlier this month, Ripa shared that her son surprised her by suggesting the family celebrate with McDonald’s instead of a fancy dinner.
“He said, ‘I thought it’d be fun if we had McDonald’s for your birthday,’” Ripa recalled, laughing. “And I said, ‘It’s not my birthday.’ And he said, ‘I mean Mother’s Day.’”
The family ended up enjoying Big Macs and fries together at home — and Ripa insisted it became one of her favorite celebrations in years.
“It was delicious,” she admitted. “The cleanup was just throwing away trash. Done. It was great.”
Between Tuscany weddings, Broadway schedules, and fast-food Mother’s Day dinners, fans say Kelly and Mark continue proving why viewers feel so connected to their family: even surrounded by fame and television success, they still somehow manage to feel completely real.
