A day after her birthday, a girl named Pihu wakes up next to her mom, Puja, on the bed. Puja appears to still be sleeping, and even though Pihu tries to wake her up, the woman doesn’t answer her. Pihu eventually gets tired of trying to wake her mom, so she heads out of the room with her doll and walks down the stairs to the living room, which still looks scattered due to the birthday celebration from the previous day. As Pihu gets to the living room, she calls her dad, Gaurav, to see if he’s around, but no one answers her.

After walking around for a while, Pihu walks near the door and tries to open it, but her hand can’t reach the handle, so she gives up. She eventually picks up the newspaper under the door and slowly climbs the stairs back up to give it to Puja. On the way, she hears the sound of water running out of the tap, so she shouts for Puja to come over and check it out. When Puja doesn’t answer, Pihu carries a stool and climbs on it to try to close the tap. Unfortunately, her hands don’t reach the handle, and she’s left with no choice but to leave it like that.

Shortly after, Pihu heads up and watches the TV just outside her mom’s room. She then controls the remote and tries to change the channel to anything but the news. She eventually changes it to an entertainment channel where some people are dancing. Pihu seems to like this, and she dances around for a while before going inside to call her mom to join her. Puja still doesn’t wake up, but Pihu taps her and says she wants to use the swing outside the house. She also begs Puja to answer her, but her mom appears to be in a really deep sleep.

Pihu then heads out of the room again and changes the TV channel to a movie station. As she sees Puja’s favorite soap opera playing, Pihu runs to the room to inform her mom again, but she’s left ignored. Pihu then increases the TV volume so that her mom can hear it, but as she enters the room, Puja still doesn’t wake up. Pihu is forced to tap her mom repeatedly to wake her up, and as she also cries, she suddenly hears Puja’s phone ringing. Pihu looks around for it and eventually sees it on top of a shelf, so she heads down to pick up a stool and carry it to the room.

On the way, the phone stops ringing, and Pihu abandons the stool on the stairs. As she enters the room again, she tries to wake Puja because she suddenly feels like using the toilet. When Puja doesn’t answer her, Pihu realizes that she’ll have to go to the toilet on her own, and she does just that. After she’s done, she comes over to wake Puja again, but her mom appears to still be sleeping. The girl doesn’t seem to understand this, and as she looks confused about what to do, the phone rings again. Pihu then heads to the stairs to bring the stool to the room. When she finally gets there, she climbs the stool and tries to reach for the phone, but she’s unable to get it. She then tries to tell Puja what she’s doing to see if her mom will wake up, but she still gets no answer.

After the phone stops ringing again, Puja heads into the bathroom and starts playing with the tap. She eventually pours water on Gaurav’s slippers to get Puja’s attention because she knows her mom doesn’t like it. However, this doesn’t help her wake up. Pihu then brushes her teeth with different toothbrushes, but as she eventually gets tired of the entire situation, she goes to meet Puja again to wake her up.

As she climbs on her mom and tries to get her to say something, a bottle of pills falls out of Puja’s hand, and Pihu wonders what it is. After climbing back down and looking at the pills, she sees that it’s likely her mom’s medicine. As she packs it back into the bottle, Pihu asks her mom if she can eat one of the pills. Since she doesn’t get any response, Pihu eventually decides against it and puts only a few of the pills inside the bottle while the rest remain on the floor.

Suddenly, the phone starts ringing again, so Pihu climbs the stool and seems bent on grabbing it this time around. After taking a huge leap, Pihu finally grabs the phone, but as she looks at the caller and tries to answer the call, it falls out of her hand and slips under the shelf. She appears to have already tapped the right button to answer the call, and as she tries to pull out the phone from where it is, she hears her dad’s voice.

Gaurav seems pissed about an argument he had with Puja before he left the house. He says he’s tired of her behavior and doesn’t want to talk to her. He also blames her for missing his flight to Kolkata because she wouldn’t stop trying to fight him. He adds that she’s a big problem for him and he can’t believe she didn’t pack his bags and other things he needed for his trip. As he continues complaining about her behavior, Gaurav eventually mentions that he only called to inform her that he forgot to turn off the pressing iron before he left the house. He blames her for this and says he doesn’t care if she dies, but that he just wants her to turn off the iron because Pihu is at home.

As she still struggles to reach the phone, Gaurav hears Pihu groaning, so he asks Puja if his daughter is fine. He assumes that his wife is still ignoring him, but as Pihu calls him, he sounds happy and tells her to take care of herself because he’s already on his way to a meeting in Kolkata. Pihu tries to tell him that Puja hasn’t been answering her, but he doesn’t understand her. He eventually tells her goodbye, and Pihu just leaves the phone and walks away.

As she goes close to Puja again, she sees some scars on her mom’s face and says she needs a cream. Pihu then walks into the closet to find a cream, but she gets distracted and picks up a lipstick instead. As she paints her lips and looks at herself in the mirror, it turns out that there’s a message on it, but the girl doesn’t seem bothered because she can’t read it. In the message, Puja tells Gaurav that she can’t believe he would treat her so badly after she had to run away from her family just to get married to him. She also mentions that since he told her that he won’t return home while she’s alive, she is already going away. She adds that she wanted to take Pihu with her but didn’t eventually have the courage to do so. The message ends with a goodbye, and it turns out that Puja has actually taken her own life over an argument she had with Gaurav that morning.

But Pihu has no idea what’s going on. After painting her lips, she heads out to show her mom, but she still doesn’t get any response. She then looks around for her body cream, and when she finds it, she takes some of it and rubs it on Puja’s face. It appears to be too much, but Pihu can’t seem to tell the difference, and she just keeps rubbing it on Puja’s face and on the floor, too.

Shortly after, the iron gets so hot that smoke starts to come out of it. Pihu sees the smoke, but she doesn’t know where it’s coming from. When she eventually realizes that it might be from the iron, she touches the cloth near it and notices that it’s very hot. However, this doesn’t stop her from trying to pinpoint where the smoke is coming from. After walking around for a while, Pihu tries to confirm that it’s the pressing iron, but as she touches the hot surface, it burns her hand, and she cries for Puja to wake up. She still gets no answer, and as she lies down on her mom, she sleeps off.

After a while, Pihu wakes up and hears the phone ringing, but she ignores it this time around. She then starts to get hungry, so she asks Puja for milk. When she doesn’t get any response, she walks to the shelf to pick up the leftover milk in the bottle, but it eventually pours on the floor. Pihu doesn’t leave it like that, though, and she immediately picks up a napkin and cleans the floor. She then heads to the kitchen and finds leftover flour wraps inside a cooler. After she takes it out, she tries to turn on the microwave but turns on the water heater instead. She doesn’t seem to know this, and instead of turning it off, she just turns on the second switch for the microwave. As it comes on, she puts one of the flour wraps inside and closes the microwave. However, she sets it to warm for a really long time, and even though she seems to enjoy watching the microwave plate moving around, the flour wrap eventually gets burnt. Pihu is disappointed by this, but since she has one more, she turns on the gas cooker and plays with the controls for a while before throwing a flour wrap on one of the burners. It eventually gets burnt again, and she realizes that her hand might get hurt if she touches it, so she abandons the cooker even though it’s still working.

She then goes to the fridge and tries to open it. After struggling with it for a while, it eventually opens, and she picks out some food items. She eventually gets bored and removes the fridge’s bottom compartment so she can try to fit herself inside. Luckily, the spot doesn’t fit her, but Pihu still clears the fridge to make it easier to sit inside without any problems. After she eventually sits inside, she forces the door to close, and it actually does. However, Pihu doesn’t seem to have enough strength to push the door open from inside the fridge. After a while, she eventually forces it open, but the things on the fridge fall on the floor.

Pihu then sits down and spreads some jam on a slice of bread. While she’s eating, someone from the trash company knocks on the door to ask if there’s any trash available for pickup. Pihu ignores him and says she’s eating, but the man doesn’t even hear her. When she finally stands up to get close to the door, the man walks away to another apartment. Pihu looks at his legs through the hole under the door and tries to call him, but the man doesn’t hear her. Pihu then gives up and heads up to give Puja a slice of bread to eat.

When her mom doesn’t answer her, Pihu eventually takes the bread away and starts playing around in the room. As she bats some balloons around the room, she ends up going too close to the iron stand, and the iron nearly falls. Pihu doesn’t see this, and she just keeps throwing the balloons around the iron stand until the iron bursts one of them. As it makes a loud sound, Pihu looks scared and stands back while calling it a bomb. Almost immediately, Puja’s phone starts ringing again, and Pihu finally uses a ruler to drag the phone from under the shelf.

After she answers the call, Gaurav sounds surprised that Puja’s phone is with Pihu. As he asks where Puja is, Pihu says she’s in the room and she’ll hand over the phone to her. Pihu then places the phone near Puja, and Gaurav mentions that he’s already on the plane and can’t talk for long. He adds that he only called to ask if she had turned off the iron because the automatic function is no longer working. When Puja doesn’t respond, Gaurav says he doesn’t understand why she’s so stubborn. He also mentions that it’s what he doesn’t like about her. He then admits that he knows he was wrong to have come home late and missed Pihu’s birthday party the previous night. However, he says he didn’t think it was much of a big deal until she made them argue about it all through the night. He also mentions that he doesn’t get why she likes bringing up a lady named Meera in their conversations, even though she’s just his colleague. He adds that Meera is Puja’s friend and he has no business with her aside from work. As he continues to explain himself, he suddenly has to end the call after one of the plane’s staff stops him from using his phone because the plane is about to take off.

Just then, Pihu picks up Puja’s phone and presses it for a while, but she eventually drops it because she doesn’t seem to understand how to operate it well. She then picks up her toy phone and tries to take it to the living room, but it turns out that its wire has tangled with the iron stand. As she drags it away, the iron falls flat on the stand and starts burning the cloth on it. Pihu doesn’t know this, and she just walks away to watch TV. She seems to enjoy the show she’s watching, but unfortunately, the TV suddenly goes off. Pihu believes there might be an issue with the connection, so she goes to the back of the TV to see if she can turn it back on. There appear to be several live wires at the back. Pihu still walks behind the TV and tries to turn on the switch. Unfortunately, she doesn’t get it done in one attempt, so she tries again.

The TV still doesn’t come on, and as she wonders what’s wrong, she hears someone knocking on the door and tells the person that she’s coming. Before she gets there, the person leaves and knocks on the next apartment. Pihu looks through the hole under the door, and even though she doesn’t really understand what they’re saying, it turns out that the person who knocked on the door wanted to deliver some milk for Puja. The neighbor in the next apartment doesn’t seem to care about this, and she also calls on the apartment guard to ask why the power supply in the building keeps going on and off. The milkman asks if she can give the milk to Puja when they see each other later, but the woman says she can’t do that. She adds that Puja and Gaurav are not good neighbors because, aside from not inviting her and her husband to Pihu’s party, they also kept playing loud music to disturb the entire building. The milkman still tries to convince her to take the milk for Puja, but the woman maintains her stance. After the man leaves, Pihu falls asleep on the floor.

When she eventually wakes up, she picks up her doll and climbs the stairs back up to meet her mom. On the way, she suddenly hears a beeping sound, which leads to the water heater exploding and getting completely destroyed. Pihu gets scared and cries for Puja to help, but she doesn’t get an answer. Meanwhile, the next-door neighbor hears the explosion and continues to talk about how Puja and Gaurav are bad neighbors. She also calls the apartment guard to come over and check what’s happening inside their house, but the man says he’ll check it later. After a while, Pihu stops crying but still looks very scared. She then picks up her doll again and heads to the room. When she gets there, the lights go off and the fan stops working. Luckily, the iron also goes off and stops burning the cloth on the stand. It then turns out that the power in the building is currently bad, but the technicians are already fixing it. Pihu doesn’t understand why the lights went off, but she just tells her mom that she wants to go out to play.

Suddenly, she opens the door to the balcony and starts calling her friends who live in the same building. Quite interestingly, it turns out that Pihu and her family live on the top floor, but the girl still stays close to the railings to call her friends. None of them seem to hear her, and Pihu even throws one of her dolls away and pours water through the balcony to get the attention of her friends. When no one still answers her, Pihu tries to display her big doll through the balcony so that her friends will know she’s the one calling them. Unfortunately, the doll falls from her hand and lands on an iron bar just close to the balcony. Pihu immediately tries to get it back by reaching for it with her legs when her hands can’t get to it. This doesn’t work out for her, but before she tries anything else, she goes to meet Puja to come and help her pick up the doll.

Puja remains silent, so Pihu heads outside and decides to climb the railings to try to see if she can grab her doll. As she holds on to the railings and tries to go over, she keeps missing her steps, but luckily, she’s able to hang on. She eventually gets tired of just standing on the railings, so she climbs higher and tries to go over it to get down to pick up the doll. Before she makes this audacious attempt, a resident from an opposite building shouts at Pihu to get down and return inside the house. She also shouts for anyone around to help the girl, but no one seems to hear her. Pihu also doesn’t understand what the woman is saying, but since she’s shouting, the girl climbs back down.

Before she climbs the railings again, she hears Puja’s phone ringing and goes inside to answer the call. As she does so, it turns out to be Meera, who says she doesn’t understand why her friend thinks she wants to ruin her marriage. She also says she’s coming over to see Puja in a few hours. Pihu hears Meera’s voice and interrupts her before she says anything else. Meera then assumes that Pihu snatched her mom’s phone, so she says hello to the girl and says she’ll see her soon.

After the call ends, the lights in the room start blinking, and as Pihu looks scared, she suddenly hears a neighbor asking the guard what’s wrong with the light. The man says that the generators are not working, but the technicians are still trying to fix the light issue. After the lights stop blinking, Pihu walks around the house and plays with Puja’s phone. While she’s at it, she hears a car honking near the apartment building, so she goes out to the balcony to check if it’s Gaurav. Unfortunately, it’s not him, so Pihu heads back inside and hears the phone ringing. As she answers the call, it turns out to be Gaurav, and Pihu says hello to him.

Gaurav sounds shocked and asks why she’s with her mom’s phone, but Pihu says that Puja is sleeping. She also asks her dad where he is, and he says he’s in Kolkata for a meeting. Since he can’t talk to Puja yet, Gaurav tells Pihu to inform her mom when she wakes up that he’ll call her back in an hour. After the call ends, Puja’s phone shows a battery sign, but this doesn’t stop Pihu from playing games with it. She eventually drops it and starts picking up the pills on the floor, but as she climbs her mom again, she falls asleep.

When she wakes up, the lights are already back on, and the iron is already burning the cloth again and getting really hot. Someone then calls the phone and asks to speak to Puja to advertise a product, but Pihu just answers the call and says nothing. The person eventually gets pissed and ends the call, but Pihu still tries to wake her mom to get her to speak to the person. Since Puja won’t answer her, Pihu walks outside the room and picks up a floor cleaner to ask her mom if she can drink it since it looks like milk. As she gets no response, Pihu heads out to pour the floor cleaner into her drinking bottle. After filling it up, she mistakenly knocks down both bottles, and the floor cleaner pours on the floor. Pihu looks disappointed by this, so she heads back into the room and begs her mom to wake up to feed her. Puja remains silent on the bed, and as Pihu continues to push her to wake up, Meera sends a text saying she can no longer visit her friend because something urgent has come up. Pihu then heads to the living room to find something to eat.

The place looks quite dirty with water also on the floor because of the running tap water. Pihu doesn’t know what to do initially, but she eventually steps on the water and goes under the dining table to eat a plate of leftover food under there. While she’s at it, someone knocks on the door to ask if anyone is inside the apartment, but Pihu ignores him. The man assumes that no one is inside, so he insults Gaurav and Puja for leaving the house without closing the tap. He also says he’ll complain to the guards because he’s tired of so many things happening in the building. As he walks away, Pihu abandons her food and tells him to wait so she can open the door, but the man can’t hear her.

When she returns to the room, she sees Gaurav calling again, so she answers the call. As he hears her talking again, he starts to get worried because it’s unusual for Puja to leave her phone with their daughter. He asks Pihu about her mom, but the girl says she wants her dad to tell her a story first. Gaurav does just this, but after the story, he tells Pihu to give the phone to Puja. The girl says Puja is still sleeping, but Gaurav finds this odd as he tells her to wake Puja up and give her the phone. Pihu says she won’t answer. Gaurav sounds worried and tells Pihu to remain on the line while he calls Meera with his other phone. As he does this, Meera’s number goes to voicemail, but Gaurav leaves her a message begging her to check his house to see if Puja is okay.

He then tells the driver of the taxi he’s in to head back to the airport so he can return home immediately. He sounds quite impatient and tells the driver to move faster, but they soon encounter serious traffic which forces them to move very slowly. Gaurav is pissed by this, and as he tells Pihu that he’s already on his way home, the call suddenly gets disconnected.

Pihu then heads back into the room to continue eating her food. She also tries to feed her mom, but since Puja can’t eat, she takes the food away. After a while, Pihu suddenly picks up one of the pills on the floor and asks Puja if she can eat it. Puja doesn’t respond, so Pihu swallows the pill. It tastes bitter in her mouth, but she picks up more pills and asks Puja if she can eat more. Since there’s still no response, Pihu assumes that her mom is fine with it, so she continues swallowing more pills. After a while, she gets bored and lies down on the floor. The effects of the pills then start to kick in, and Pihu feels really dizzy. She tries to stay awake and keep her eyes open, but she suddenly closes them and passes out.

Later that night, the lights in the room are off, and the walls are already dark because the iron kept working until the heat and smoke from it filled the house. Puja remains on the bed, but Pihu is nowhere to be found. As some neighbors notice that something is going on inside, they try to break in, but they sound scared because they don’t know what they’ll find inside. After a while, Gaurav finally arrives home, and as he goes inside, he sees smoke everywhere and realizes that Puja didn’t turn off the iron. He then enters the room and sees Puja already dead on the bed. This leaves him shocked, but as he looks around, he doesn’t find Pihu. He starts to fear the worst and goes around to keep calling her name. Suddenly, Gaurav hears Pihu calling him, and as he follows her voice, it turns out that she’s under the bed. As Pihu sees him, she says she has just built a beautiful house with her toy and that he needs to wake Puja up. Gaurav is left short of words as he hears this, and he just starts crying.
